I stayed here for less than two weeks in February, which felt far too short. I already miss them so much! Mika and Muko were so kind and made me feel at home from the very first night I arrived. I worked with two other volunteers, and we also spent a lot of wonderful time together. We did the housework together every morning, and it didn’t take too much time or effort. I really enjoyed walking the three cute dogs by the river and playing with them. We had plenty of free time to explore the cities, too. Every day, Mika made us delicious dinners. She’s such a talented cook who can prepare so many different dishes! Muko also made us tasty noodles for breakfast and brought us cake when we were leaving. They are such lovely people with so many colourful life experiences. I loved talking with them. Mika’s stories always made me laugh. She’s so caring and is always helping rescue other dogs, which is truly admirable. This is definitely a warm and wonderful home to stay in.

This was my first workaway and it was great! Helen and Gabriel made me feel incredibly welcome and comfortable. The work was always different and enjoyable (nothing strenuous). There's also a lot of stuff to do when not working such as ping pong, chess or walking through all of the beautiful villages in the area. 10/10 experience 💫💯

We had the chance to stay with Jens for around 5 weeks, and it was an all-around great experience. Jens is very open-minded, generous, and has a lot of knowledge that he’s happy to share. He creates an environment where you feel comfortable and valued from the start. The work was very versatile. We did some general garden maintenance, insulated a bamboo house with clay, and started to build a clay/sand house from scratch. And one of the things we really appreciated was that even if you don’t have experience in everything, you’re encouraged to try new things and learn along the way. The people living there also make the experience special: everyone is very welcoming, warm, and kind, which creates a strong sense of community. Overall, we can highly recommend this place. It was a really positive experience, and we would definitely come back anytime.

Ayesha and Elia are open, funny and nice people. I had a great time at their place and learned much about nature, espacially plants and dogs. I felt very comfortable and welcomed. We had some nice conversations and although some work was hard I had a relaxing and funny time. As long as you communicate what you want, you will get along with Elia and Ayesha :) I am excited for the next time

My Workaway experience exceeded all my expectations. I really enjoyed every part of it. Kwan’s little farm is located in a very calm and peaceful area, which made it easy to relax and feel at home right away. Waking up to the sounds of nature and starting the day with yoga on the terrace was the perfect way to begin each morning. The work itself was a lot of fun. Kwan is very organized and always made sure there was something meaningful to do. At the same time, he gives you a lot of trust and freedom in your tasks, which I really appreciated. Kwan is an incredibly kind and welcoming person, even with his dad jokes :D He truly cares about his volunteers, takes the time to show you around, and shares both his culture and his extensive knowledge. I learned so much from him and feel really inspired by how much passion he has for his farm and for the amazing projects he does with the local community.

Suzanne spent three weeks with us, and we truly appreciated the time she dedicated to the project. Her communication skills are excellent, and we enjoyed our many conversations on a wide range of topics. She is very open-minded, easy to talk to, and we had a lot of fun together. She followed all the rules perfectly and carried out every task with care. Her horse-handling skills are outstanding, and she quickly bonded with Brownie, our “pony-minded” rescue. She was able to care for several horses, work in the garden, and clean both the house and the paddocks. She is independent, responsible, and we appreciated that she always asked whenever she had a doubt. We were also pleasantly surprised when she brought vegan cakes she found during her free days, a very kind gesture. We saw her opening up to our animals. It can be overwhelming at the beginning to live with so many furry friends, and we are certain that she learned to enjoy their company. You are welcome here any time, Suzanne! Thanks for everything!

This was my first experience staying as a volunteer, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better one. I can’t appreciate Manish and Deepak enough for their hospitality, kindness, and the way they made me feel so welcome from the very beginning. I truly felt like part of the family. The place itself is magical — quiet, very clean, and filled with such peaceful energy. It felt like a real home. For any solo female traveler, this is a place where you will feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Everything was well-organized and fair, and I always felt respected and appreciated. They provide food, and there’s also a beautiful rooftop kitchen if you feel like cooking on your own. My tasks were mainly helping with cleaning — vacuuming, dusting, and mopping — and it all felt very manageable and balanced. What made this experience truly special wasn’t just the place or the work, but the people and the feeling of genuine connection. I’m leaving with a full heart, gratitude, and beautiful memories. I truly enjoyed my stay here. My only regret is that it was just one week — next time, I will definitely come for longer. Thank you so much for this opportunity 🤍

I spend a lovely time at Deina's place, mainly helping with the olive trees. Its very quiet work and allows for a lot of time thinking, solitude and introspection. When Deina was home, we had a great time. She taught me sicilian card games (ask about Scopa, its so much fun) and we had wonderful talks in the evening about - well, just about everything. Catania is not far and there were multiple opportunities to visit the city and on one weekend I even did a daytrip to Siracusa, which I also loved. Also, it has to be mentioned that Deina's olive oil is the best I have ever had. Absolutely amazing. You should definitely visit if you like working outside in peace and unhurried and enjoy good conversations and food.

I had an amazing with Ben, two other volunteers and the 4 dogs! Highly recommend you to stay there. I could definitely calm my mind down and reconnect to the nature. That was exactly what I was looking for. The place is around 40min from San Carlos, peaceful, huuuge and beautiful and you can help quite flexibly with all different kind of tasks. I enjoyed working in this amazing scenery and sometimes only the darkness coming with the night was stopping me from keep up the work. 🤭 Mostly one of us cooked and we used some of the greens freshly from the garden (the salads are soo tasty and I'll definitely miss them). Thanks to Ben and to the other to volunteers! 🧡 I had an amazing time with you!

During my last Workaway, I had a truly wonderful experience. Frank welcomed me from the very beginning with great kindness and generosity, making me feel at home right away. The place is enchanting, surrounded by nature, with the chance to enjoy beautiful sunset walks. I shared this experience with two other volunteers, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. The tasks were varied: from harvesting plants to preparing herbal teas, taking care of honey jars, and many other interesting activities. Frank was always very respectful of working hours and also helped me a lot with my English, which I’m not very confident with, and that really made a difference for me. We shared great conversations and cooked many different dishes, each bringing a piece of our own culture. It was a very enriching experience both personally and culturally. I am more than happy with this experience and would like to sincerely thank Frank and his family for this wonderful opportunity!!🌀 See you soon, ciaaao☺️

Most other reviews have already mentioned how great it is here, but I would also like to add that Mário is a very accommodating and interesting person (in the best sense). You can always ask him questions, and he takes the time to explain things. The place is even better in real life than in the pictures, and on top of that the dogs are just lovable. I can truly recommend Mário if you get the chance.

I am so grateful for my time here and totally recommend for anyone looking to learn / improve their teaching, Spanish, or just to meet and experience life with 3 generations of a beautiful, close Colombian family. I was embraced by the family from the day I arrived - spoiled even (!) - they even went out of their way to celebrate my birthday when I'd only mentioned it in passing!! You even receive a generous breakfast every morning, and volunteers have their own space with a private kitchen for cooking any other food. The work arrangements are incredibly fair - it's a maximum of 2x1.5h classes a day. By the end I was doing both the kids' and the teens' class but I still felt like I had all the time in the world to read, work, spend time with the family and other volunteers, and spend time in Guamal. From a Workaway perspective it's an amazing "exchange" - though this feels wrong to say when you feel more like part of the family. Thank you, beautiful family, for everything - I will be returning if I ever have the chance ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Nadege was a GREAT companion, she is a very dedicated young woman who enjoyed learning about the area and the natural life while focusing on her own goals and challenges. I was lucky to count with her and be able to share errands, DIY tasks (she was always willing and hard working) and conversations with her. Very easygoing and centered. Thanks for staying with me, Nadege!

I had an amazing time living with Clare, June, Jazzy and their pets! They were incredibly welcoming, kind and laid-back. The month I spent there was perfect in in every way, thanks to their hospitality. The pets are very friendly and always up to cuddle. Jazzy is a very sweet, happy child! I had an unforgettable month filled with laughs, fun and interesting chats and pet cuddles. This was my first workaway experience and I can really say it was everything I could have hoped for so if you’re thinking about staying with this amazing, sweet family, do not hesitate. Clare, June and Jazzy, Thank you for everything <3

Emilie and the kids were gone for vacation. She trusted us for taking care of the house and the two dogs. Gandalf and Drenec are sweet and energized, who love taking walks and cuddling. The house is located directly at the lake and the view is stunning. Even though we meet Emilie just for a short time, we were impressed, how she is handling life with kids, job and dogs. Wish you all the best. See you soon (in Switzerland´s most beautiful cabin ;))

I spent a wonderful month here from December to January, and it was truly an incredible experience. A huge thank you to Barbara, Georg, Sebastian, Claudia, and the girls, Gwen and Ailbhe. This was my first time experiencing a Western Christmas and seeing snow for the first time in my life—these are memories I will cherish forever! Barbara is such a gentle and wise person. She taught me so much about permaculture, and I truly cherished our afternoon tea times together.Georg definitely has a chef's DNA! I loved every single meal here. By the time I left, my pants were feeling a bit tight—a clear sign that I was fed very well and was incredibly happy.I was also glad that Sebastian was home during the Christmas holidays. We went wood gathering together, and I was so impressed by his tree-climbing skills. I really look forward to you visiting Taiwan again in the future! I enjoyed every single day here. Saying goodbye was bittersweet, and though there were tears, they were happy ones. I will definitely visit you all again next time I’m in Ireland!
