    Description

Hi I’m Clare, I live in the Irish countryside with my elderly mother, Dogs, cats and are getting hens again in the spring. Our home is less then an hour outside Dublin City centre in a quiet little country side village. Our house is on 5 acres we have an organic vegetable garden where we like to grow a variety of fruits vegetables and herbs throughout the year currently giving it a revamp this year so that’ll be a fun project. We are both foodies and love cooking home cooked meals using the produce we grow ourselves and eggs we get fresh every day from our hens. My mum is a total chatter box! and loves having the company of others around.

I am a trained chef and love to cook, I'm passionate about organic and sustainable growing also. In my professional life I work as a photographer so and some weeks are busier than others, during busy times I can leave the house very early and come back late in the evening. My mum is here most days.

For 2024 we have a DIY projects we want to finish, we are renovating a caravan into a cabin and are looking for people with building and DIY experience, if you have used power tools or built anything before.
We are excited for 2024 and have lots of plans, including gardening jobs and DIY projects, experience in this is essential.

There are other smaller DIY projects we are working away on too, from fixing items to painting, lots of variety. Clearing sheds and organising. We have a beautiful garden that can always do with an extra pair of hands to help with weeding trimming and cutting the grass. Also there is always something to do in our vegetable garden, lots of weeding. Helping prepare our hen house for our new hens, clearing and cleaning their little home. Some cooking or lending a hand in the kitchen to help prepare meals. Helping with daily chores around the house like cleaning and organising. And most important of all throwing a ball for our happy dogs and giving them a lot of affection! The cats will probably ignore you or not leave you alone, their choice!

    Accommodation

We live in a four bedroom Georgian Farm House, our comfortable spare room in the house has a double bed and is located right beside the main bathroom. We also have another spare room, larger at the front of the house so depending if we have any family staying with us at the time you you can stay in one of those rooms.

You will have access to the kitchen and there will be food there for you to prepare your own breakfast and lunches and dinners. We will have family meals together in the evenings we well but it depends on my work schedule at the time, we try to eat together at least 3 times a week and the other days. I the days we prepare food if you could help with setting the table and cleaning up that would be great.

    What else ...

It is handy if you have your own car to get around, we are happy to drop people to the local bus stop or train station whenever possible and to inform you of local attractions and nice things to do on your time off. We prefer two people, couples or friends and feel they suit us best for us. Working on your own initiative is important as I work full time so don't get a chance to work with you much and if you are a pair then you'll be able to keep each other company during the tasks. My mother will be home most days there should be always some one around to chat to. We usually take people for just 2-3wks max. A good understanding of English is helpful also. We love meeting people through this and really appreciate all the help we can get, especially as mum is older and her back problems means she can’t do as much as she would like.
