I spent six wonderful days with Melanie, Thomas, Evelena, and Patricia. From the very first moment we met, they welcomed me with warm and kind smiles. The children shared stories about their travels with me, guided me around the town they live in, and we played in the snow together at the park—all of which became unforgettable memories for me.🥰 The children are always curious and full of energy, and I truly adore them. Melanie and Thomas also made sure I had everything I needed to feel comfortable during my stay ☺️ They treated me to many delicious German dishes, and I even had the chance to join them when taking the children to and from school and their activities. Although the six days passed by so quickly, all I have are happy memories. I have never met such a warm, energetic, and joyful family before. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to all Workawayers. 🤩 Thank you so much for the best memories;) Best wishes, Chihiro

Daniel stayed with us for two weeks and was a great volunteer to have around the farm. He was reliable, easy to work with, and always open to trying different tasks. He helped with a variety of work including feeding and cooking for the dogs (and puppies), weeding, and taking the cow out for grazing, and he handled everything responsibly. He followed instructions well, worked independently when needed, and maintained a calm, positive attitude throughout his stay. Daniel also blended in nicely with the rest of the volunteers and contributed to a relaxed and friendly atmosphere on the farm. He was curious about farm life and local agriculture, asked good questions, and made the most of his free time by exploring nearby places. Overall, he was respectful, easygoing, and a pleasure to host. We would happily recommend Daniel to other hosts and wish him all the best on his travels ahead.

Anna is a lovely person.. We connected well and had many deep conversations over boiling hot Tea and kilos of Christmas Cakes. I was glad that she was genuinely curious about various aspects of Indian society and we spoke quite a lot about it... Watched some good south Indian movies together - she being a documentary fan - when it looked like some 'truths' about India had shocked and baffled her.. Anna cooked meals and also made lot of tea, Indian chai.. She is the first guest in home who made chaaya for me. This was very kind of her and we enjoyed lots and lots of tea and cake. I hope Anna would be able to remember some steps of the massage she learnt and can use it for her loved ones. I am very grateful for her kindness, charm, the food, the tea, the cake and all her time here.. Hopefully, we will meet again!

We are sharing this review to provide a professional account of the current environment at this Workaway. While we appreciated the kindness of the host’s parents, the structure of this exchange has become logistically and mentally unsustainable for volunteers. +1 The core challenge is the "on-call" nature of the role. Although physical tasks like cleaning and gardening often stayed within the 3-hour daily ask, the mental workload and digital management far exceeded this. Because the host does not live on-site, management is handled via high-volume WhatsApp communication. We frequently spent several hours—including on our days off—decoding long-form voice notes and dozens of instructional videos (up to 70 in a single evening) to navigate disorganized inventory and "scavenger hunt" style tasks. +4 The final days of our stay saw a significant disregard for agreed-upon hours, including an 11-hour day acting as personal transport and support for the host’s medical appointments. This was followed by a barrage of weekend messages demanding "extra hours" and the cleanup of personal messes, all while being pressured to prioritize the host's health over agreed-upon work limits. +4 Furthermore, we observed a consistent pattern where the host lacked accountability for the property’s disorganization, instead blaming previous volunteers for the "chaos". Having experienced the instructional creep and systemic lack of organization firsthand, we believe future volunteers will likely find themselves the next targets of this blame-shifting. +2 Prospective volunteers should be aware: Communication Volume: Expect extreme levels of digital micromanagement and the need to be highly responsive to constant messages at all hours. +2 Italian Fluency: Navigating the language barrier with the on-site family is a significant stressor; fluency is now a functional necessity for this role. Documented Proof: We have maintained a complete archive of the WhatsApp communication logs, instructional videos, and photos that illustrate these stressors. We are happy to provide this data to Workaway support or other volunteers to ensure transparency. +2 We recommend this stay only to those who can manage a high-pressure, "on-call" digital environment without clear personal boundaries.

I was with Isla and her family for ten days and had such a great time. The property is so beautifu! You can tell that Isla is passionate about building something special here and it feels awesome to be a part of that. Isla let us explore and work on what we were curious about, while creating an atmosphere that allowed us to be creative. Her dad, Villa, can make a castle out of water. I learned so much from him. Her mom, Cris's, cooking is so good it can make you cry. Such a good experience, worth every mosquito bite :)

Dear Justine Thank you for your help during your stay, it was so cool and lovely that you made pizza for us and that you wanted to teach us to make pizza your way, the way you learned from a pizza bakery in France where you worked 🙏😍🙏 The potato pizza was amazing and it was new to us that it's a good idea to put honey, goat cheese and walnuts on a pizza 😍 we've done that some times since and all guests love that 😍. And the big professional sign you made for the street you designed it so well and so cool, it's still standing and looks the same as when you left, so it's really done in a professional manner. It's also looking great with all your artistic touch, we feel very honored that you wanted to use your professional skills in helping us with that sign 😍🙏😍 And thanks for helping around with smaller tasks here and there 🙏 You're very strong and healthy which I found very cool and inspiring 😍 You also painted the movable "wall" in a very beautiful manner to match some other furniture and even though it was a quick and last minute job it turned out pretty well. 🙏 It was very cool that you came to the festival to meet us before you were coming to stay. And it was cool that you went to Viborg for the acting job in a commercial that I sent you. You're very cool 😍 We warmly recommend other hosts to have you as a workawayer guest 😍 And you're always welcome back here. Kind regards Leyilah Ps sorry for the late reply on your review, I did write one earlier but something must have gone wrong like maybe not pressing the send button 😁

Elena was an outstanding volunteer and a real pleasure to host. She cooked delicious traditional French meals and baked an amazing orange cake that everyone loved. She helped a lot around the house by cleaning and preparing rooms, and she put great effort into the garden — protecting the tomato plants and planting many seeds such as melons and pumpkins. She was very kind and comfortable with our dogs and also helped my mom when needed, which we really appreciated. She got along wonderfully with the other volunteers and brought a great energy to group activities, especially during game nights playing Dixit. We would certainly welcome her back and highly recommend her to other hosts.

Cherry came here for his first Workaway experience, and also for his first trip outside China, and everything went very well. He was always ready and willing to help with anything that needed to be done in the house, without hesitation and without watching the clock, even on Sundays. His English is improving day by day, and it was a pleasure for me to contribute to his improvement not only in terms of language communication, but also as a person experiencing life outside his home country for the first time. He proved to be open to the new cultural experiences we offered him. Highly recommended to all future hosts.

Saylik is a really nice and lovely young woman who we had the joy of having as a guest for 4 weeks, she is very kind and she has a great humor, we laughed a lot with her 😍 She also got really well along with the other workawayers we had at the time she was here, she's good at socializing and having a great time with others. And she also knows when to retrieve and take good care of herself and have some peace and quiet time 😍 She's very good with children it seems, she definitely was here in our home 🙏😍😍🙏 my daughter really loves her ❤️ Saylik helped with a lot of different things and she made the scavenger hunt for the big birthday party, and prepared it for many days in between other tasks and she really made a good job with it, and it was a hard job since it was for teenagers 😁🥰🙏 And Saylik embroidered the front of a little bag for the Enola Holmes costume, she was so great at it and it was such a big gift that she said she could do that bc if it hadn't been for her I don't think this bag would've been finished in time 🙏I don't think Saylik had done much embroidery if any before, so it was so cool and so wonderful that she wanted to embark on that big task, she spend many hours and many days on this big project and the result is so beautiful. ❤️🙏❤️ Saylik is very pleasant to be around and she's very honest about herself and her life which is so nice bc then we always could just talk straightforward about things, situations, feelings etc❤️🙏❤️ We missed Saylik after she had left and we actually would have loved for her to stay longer. She's so wonderful and cool, sweet and very kind, intelligent and have so many great views on life 😍 We warmly recommend her as a workawayer 🙏❤️🙏 And Saylik you're always welcome back here 😍

Kiki is a great volunteer - lots of gardening skills, good company, great cook, and very dedicated to her tasks. She is observant and proactive and needs almost no guidance. We had many meals with interesting conversations (she has a fascinating profession) and had some good laughs. I very much recommend Kiki as a volunteer!

We had 9 wonderful and unforgettable days in Lurah Bilut! Your family is amazing and we really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and conversations. From the very first moment, we felt incredibly welcome and at home — there were no hidden expectations or “work,” just pure time to unwind (our favorite spot was definitely the hammock in the tree house). The children are lovely and especially Sophia is always up to something and we taged along. With her and Yati we played a lot of card games such as Skyjo and Shithead. We also took the bikes for a ride through the village. In addition to a lot of fun we had the best food made by the best cook, Yati! One of our highlights was the spontaneous trip to the farm, where Zaki showed us everything he grows and also the pizza making in the self-build oven! The night market every friday is a chance to meet local people, we talked with two teenagers for 2 hours :) Overall it was the perfect end to our 5 months of traveling! Thank you very much for having us - hopefully we can come back sometime!

I stayed at the homestead of Jenna and Devid in October for three weeks. It was a fantastic experience for me to try an off-grid life in the beautiful nature. They have a cabin for guests and I stayed there. It was really cozy and comfortable. I worked for 5 hours per day, 5 days per week. There were various tasks, like digging holes, wood work (peeling, cutting), chopping, building fence for puppies, taking care of huskies, playing with kids, cooking, etc... Jenna always asked me which tasks I feel comfortable to do, so we always made sure to have the great communication between us! October was perfect for me. In the middle of October it started snow, so I enjoyed the change of the sceneries. I saw northern lights on some days. In the free time, I walked in the forest or along the river. They also taught me how to do carving so I did some carving projects. They also let us use a canoe to go down the river. On the last days, the river got frozen so we did skating together. They also taught me how to hunt and skin animals. It was such a precious experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay in the homestead. I thank Jenna and David to host me, and Celia and Juniper to play with me. I never forget the memories together with you, especially moose sushi we made together.

Fè & Sam joined us for a week here to help us begin the challenging task pruning our olive grove. Surprisingly for Sicily, the weather was pretty unstable making daily chores outside more complicated giving rise to a truer countryside experience that included mud.  Fè & Sam appeared to embrace the isolation of our location and were able to work with guidance and supervision preparing, sorting and clearing branches from the olives trees to be shredded.  We enjoyed getting to know them in more depth during shared meal times and we appreciated hearing about their life experiences and individual studies in different cities. They brought with them the energy of a nearly formed relationship making themselves more independent during non working hours.

Pi Joe and Pi Joy were always friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. They supported us with every question we had and made sure we felt comfortable at all times. We were always invited to join social activities, which made the experience even more special and inclusive. They consistently provided us with delicious meals and were very attentive to our individual needs, which we truly appreciated. Khanom is truly a hidden gem, surrounded by beautiful nature, close to lovely cafés, and near a beautiful beach. We highly recommend staying here.

Namaste Chiho Thank you so much for your kind words. You brought great enthusiasm, openness, and positive energy to the farm, and it was a pleasure hosting you here. We’re glad your first experience with permaculture and farm life felt meaningful, and that the small moments—from hands-on work to time with the cows—stayed with you. your special skills should include team work and planning and execution. Thank you, Tejal. You were very clear and forthcoming about what you wanted to learn here, and we appreciated the thought and intent you brought after stepping away from your tech career. You approached farm work with sincerity and hard work, participating wholeheartedly in daily activities while also engaging thoughtfully with the larger ideas around sustainability, livelihood, and future possibilities. Your business sense, openness to learning, and hands-on attitude made your time here meaningful for us as well. We wish you clarity and confidence as you explore your next path ahead.

Roger was a pleasure to host during his stay with us. He is an extremely polite person with fantastic manners and a very respectful attitude towards both people and the home environment. He kept his living space very clean and always showed consideration for shared areas. Roger works very well when given clear instructions. He is calm, and able to complete tasks independently once he understands what is required. He approached his work with a positive attitude and reliability. Overall, Roger was a great help and a very pleasant person to have around.
