Description
Hi!
My name is Gunn Hege. I live on a small and atmospheric farm in the countryside of Flesberg, in the Numedal valley – about 1.5 hours from Oslo, near Blefjell and Kongsberg. I’m in the middle of creating space – both literally and symbolically – for a new phase in life, with more balance, simplicity, and connection to nature.
I live here with my 15-year-old twins (a boy and a girl), while my eldest son (19) is currently in the military. I work as an advisor in the education sector and am also training to become a certified coach. Hosting Workawayers is part of my own learning journey – especially in building more confidence in using English day to day – so clear and kind communication is appreciated.
I’m not currently running a business or asking for help with any business activity. The farm is my private home and is in an early phase of personal and practical transformation. I am not offering or selling any services or products, and there is no income-generating activity connected to the help I’m asking for. The tasks involve light maintenance, tidying and organizing, and supporting a vision for future personal use — not for commercial purposes or related to paying guests.
I’m looking for one or two practical and reliable people who would like to contribute in exchange for a peaceful, nature-based stay.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
This is more than just a exchange – it’s an opportunity to experience rural life in Norway and be part of a meaningful personal transition. You’ll be immersed in nature, take part in everyday life on a small farm, and enjoy space for stillness, reflection, and simple living.
I’m also happy to offer an introductory coaching conversation if you’re going through a life shift or simply want to reflect on personal values and direction.
I’m working on becoming more confident in speaking English, so hosting Workawayers is also a learning experience for me. I truly appreciate clear and patient communication, and I look forward to growing together.Help
At the moment, our hobby farm is in an early stage of transformation, and there are many simple, hands-on tasks to be done. Your help might include:
• Organising and clearing out the barn, storage buildings and old outbuildings
• General cleaning (including windows, walls or ceilings – both inside and outside)
• Driving with me to the recycling station
• Light outdoor tasks and seasonal tasks
Please note: You will only be helping with simple and non-commercial tasks. There is no renovation, construction, or maintenance related to paying guests, and no tasks that would normally require professional tradespeople.
Other small tasks may come up depending on the season and your interests. I’m looking for people with a positive attitude, a practical mindset, and a willingness to be part of a meaningful, personal journey.Languages spoken

You’ll have a private room in the main farmhouse, suitable for one person or a couple/two close friends. We’ll share meals and daily routines, and you’ll be welcomed as part of the household.
There are also a few non-commercial extras available for your personal use, depending on availability:
• A simple and charming private cabin by a quiet lake in the Blefjell mountains (a 20-minute walk from the road)- perfect for peace, swimming, and relaxing
• A peaceful traditional mountain pasture house (seter) in the area, surrounded by nature (available when not in use)
These are part of my private life and not used for any income-generating activity. What else ...
• There is no public transport to the farm, so you’ll need your own car. This also gives you the freedom to explore the surrounding mountains, forests, small villages – and even visit cities or cultural sights in the region.
• The area is quiet and peaceful, ideal if you enjoy nature, stillness, and a slower pace of life. If you’re looking for nightlife or high activity, this probably isn’t the right setting.
• We have reliable Wi-Fi and good mobile phone coverage, so you’ll be able to stay connected while still enjoying a break from city noise.
• Life here is simple and close to nature. Some tasks may be physically active or outdoors, so bring suitable clothes and shoes.
• Meals are mostly homemade and shared, and I do my best to accommodate dietary needs with a bit of planning.
• The farm is a work in progress – not everything is perfect or finished, but it’s a warm and welcoming place full of potential.A little more information
