This was one of our favorite sits ever! Mariza is an incredible host and truly wonderful person - warm, welcoming, and so thoughtful. We met before she left and she not only let us stay in her house, she even took the time to show us around the island, which was such a lovely start to the stay. Communication was excellent throughout, and we genuinely feel like we left with a new friend. Leo is the kind of dog you fall in love with instantly - the sweetest, cutest (and funny!) companion and the perfect walking and hang-out buddy. We still talk about him and miss him, even months later. The house is wonderful and located in absolute paradise. Watching the ocean and birds from the patio was so peaceful and calming - such a special place to spend time. While we were there, we also built a platform bed for Mariza’s casita, which turned into a really fun and rewarding project. Mariza helped coordinate with locals, and the final result turned out great. We would return anytime - an unforgettable experience!

Where do I even begin, and where do I end? It was my very first Workaway experience. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Yani makes getting started so easy with her warm, open, and loving nature. You just can’t help but feel at home. Day by day, we organised the tasks and mastered them together. From eco-construction to building a fireplace, general house maintenance, and making jam. We did it all. What I liked most was the relaxed, easygoing atmosphere while working. Mate, good food, and music made the work hours fly by. We didn’t just work at Yani’s house but also helped out in her community. This allowed us to understand Yani’s values even better. Sharing is caring. I never got bored in my free time either, since there are 2 cats and 2 dogs living in the house, a river nearby, and very, very beautiful hikes in the area. During my entire stay, I was able to learn not only a lot about permaculture but also about myself, and I improved my Spanish.

We had a nice time with Sharbeen! He is super friendly, hardworking, dedicated, and respectful to others. He adapted easily to our community and brought a very positive energy. A smiling, happy guy all around. Thanks again, and we hope to welcome you again soon!

Two weeks went by way too quickly but I feel so blessed to have had this amazing opportunity here with Anna and Steve and their amazing pets. They are incredibly kind and thoughtful hosts who are flexible with the work tasks and try to mix things up to give you variety in your days. I loved spending time in their garden, soaking up the love from the dogs and cats, and getting to enjoy time relaxing in their beautiful beachfront property. I felt very well supported during my time there and wish I could have stayed longer. I hope to come back again someday.

Had a great stay here. The usual volunteer dorm was full so marie took me into his family home, gave me my own room and was very attentive and looked after me very well. The school was super fun, the kids are great and madam yacine and maudo are lovely. I felt very at home and welcomed. Overall great experience, would highly recommend. I should note that the nightly charge is actually 7 euros, not 5 euros.

Bree and Aiden stayed with us for two weeks and we had an amazing time together. From the very first moment they arrived it felt like we’d known each other since forever. They did fantastic work in the garden, yard and with and for our animals. They worked really quick with amazing outcomes. But more than work, we loved showing them our region, our culture and our familiy. It never got boring during those two weeks and evening often turned into long wonders talks. They were genuinely curious and appreciative, so it never felt like hosting duties- just spending time with friends. Bree made great Lemington (one of the best cakes ever), they showed us a fun card game and had so much stories to tell. It was an absolute amazing time we had together!!! So if you ever get the chance to host Bree and Aiden, don’t hesitate. They’re the kind of Workawayers who turned a stay into an absolute highlight. And to Bree and Aiden: you’re always welcome back -we miss you a lot. Lots of love from your German family :)

My stay with Erin, Sue, and their family in Lenggries was short, but it left a lasting impression on me. Some of my days involved helping with the kids, and I especially enjoyed sometimes taking Anouk and Aaron to school. They are sweet, energetic children and I really enjoyed their company. The experience also pushed me out of my comfort zone in a positive way. During my stay I cooked for the first time and reconnected with my Moroccan heritage by preparing a tajine for the family. Erin himself is a very talented musician, a great cook, an amazing jazz guitarist, and a wonderful singer. We had many great conversations about music, and he introduced me to artists such as Eddie Vedder, Counting Crows, Marillion, Taksim Trio, Tuck & Patti, Björk, Vicente Amigo, and many other great musicians. Beyond music, he is also a very thoughtful psychologist, and I learned a lot from our deeply insightful conversations about the human condition, psychological conditions such as schizophrenia and ADHD, and various spiritual and philosophical topics. Sue is incredibly active and inspiring. She took me skiing for the first time, which was completely outside my comfort zone. Watching the kids ski so freely was truly inspiring, i couldn't believe that such little humans can have this much hand-eye coordination😄. It's is a moment I will never forget. We also went indoor rock climbing together, which was great fun. I challenged muscles I didn’t even know existed, and it has now become one of my new favourite sports. Lenggries itself is a beautiful place. Just ten minutes away you can find incredible scenery, mountains to trek, and rivers to admire. It is truly a place for reflection and serenity...a kind of heaven on earth. But what made the experience truly special was the company of Erin and his family. Seeing Erin’s patience while raising his children left a deep mark on me and inspires me to one day become a great father like him. Thank you Erin, Sue, Amelie, Anais, Aaron, and Anouk for the experience and the memories. I wish you all the very best ❤️

I has been such a pleasure hosting Ella and Emeric and their son. We had very interesting chats and the kids got along so well with each other. Emeric knows how to use tools to help on the property as well as repairing things, such as the bikes of our kids. Ella helped a lot in the garden and with cooking while being patient with the kids and having a nice chat. Both are hard-working and so friendly. We hope to see each other again and wish them all the best!

I stayed with Weza for 40 days and it was a fantastic experience. The school project and the football training sessions are very interesting and allow you to meet and spend time with local people. The children are amazing and the atmosphere at the school is very calm and constructive. Weza is very hospitable and always willing to help if you need anything. I highly recommend this experience to everyone.

Viktor is a friendly person who finished every task very efficiently so that we could continue with a lot of projects on the property. He knows how to use a trimmer, a chain saw as well as a lot of other tools. Even though he does not speak English very well yet, he made sure with a translator to fully understand what needs to be done. He cleans up after himself without being asked for in particular and was also a good friend to any animal here. We wish him all the best and he is welcome any time again at our place.

What an amazing family, from the moment I walked into the house I felt welcomed in like I was a family member. I was able to join the family on activities like skiing and ice skating which was really fun. I also had plenty of time to do my own exploring including a weekend away to Grindelwald and day trips to Zurich, Bern and Luzern. The boys were naturally inquisitive which made it easy to engage them in activities. It was really fun playing with all of the children we especially loved the game just dance. It is a beautiful area of Switzerland with green rolling hills all around the house and plenty of walking trails. There is also a bus that can take you the the bigger towns. Markus and Danja are wonderful parents. Danja will teach you a lot about childcare and will cook you some delicious meals. Markus is very playful with the children always coming up with interesting new games. Overall I very much enjoyed my time I got to spend with the family, it was definitely hard to say goodbye I would 100% recommend this workaway and really hope to see the family again in the future

We had the chance to spend two weeks in a lovely little cabin that they let us stay in on their farm This lovely family gave us a wonderful welcome and discovering farm life alongside them was a real pleasure We were able to help them with various tasks such as : milking the sheep, making wooden fences, painting the fences, mixing concrete, dismantling structures damaged by the wind, feeding the animals, going for walks with their baby Valentin and helping with everyday chores ! Everything you need to work is provided and the conditions are really good So we learnt lots of little things thanks to them The place is magnificent with a beautiful view of the mountains ! Being surrounded by animals is really lovely, especially as we were able to interact with them Lucia and Jakob are very well organised and always looked after our comfort and well-being ! The meals were absolutely brilliant ! It was a real pleasure to share meals with them, enjoying all the lovely food We got to cook together a few times and it was a pleasure every single time We really shared in their family life, we had genuine exchanges and truly enriching and enjoyable human interactions Playing and spending time with the children was also great fun, Leon and Theo are two very independent boys and were always happy to share things with us and join us in our activities A sincere thank you to them for everything they gave us, you were so generous to us in every way !! So we truly wish you every success in your projects and all the best for the future ! We really hope to be able to come back and see you !!! J&J

I'm so grateful for workaway, otherwise, I would never meet the most wonderful people like Ash and Ellen. Both of them are just outstanding and lovely people. They took to the tasks at hand, independent, reliable, and thorough. They accomplished a good amount during their stay and helped me a great deal getting projects completed. Thank you so much for everything.

Being part of the team was a great honour for me. It is a place where you inspire and are inspired. Where you teach all kinds of students, and learn just as much from them. Where you challenge your students to grow in English, while also challenging yourself to get the most out of your classes. And where along the way, you begin to see both your own culture and Colombian culture through new eyes. During my four weeks in Zipaquirá I met so many wonderful people, each with their own stories to tell. As a volunteer you give your time, your energy, and genuine care to your students. And in return, they give you their curiosity, openness and appreciation. You notice how interested they are in your life as an international and your experiences in the world. Seeing how even in small ways you can make a positive difference in their lives is what makes working one of those experiences that stays with you.

Aaliyah is a sweet and uncomplicated girl. It was great having her as part of our family for a couple of weeks, we quickly established a routine and she's very easy to be around with. She's brilliant at organising and cleaning and very good with children and animals too.

I stayed with Pat’s daughter Leslie for one month and had an amazing experience! I had plenty of free time to explore the city, and communication about my tasks was always clear and easy. Leslie’s place in Brooklyn is clean and welcoming, and I felt comfortable there right away. Thank you for hosting me. It was truly my pleasure!

Meryl and her dog Meiko came to stay for 3 weeks, i wish it could have been longer as she was such a help for me. She would walk my dog after she returned from a long walk with hers, my dog loved her. Meryl cooked an absolutely lovely leek pie, and also an apple one, which i licked so much i made her make it again, and write down the recipe. She is a lovely girl so very helpful. I spoke to her in english and we used a translater App to communicate better. My door is open for her to return anytime, even for a few days holiday with her partner and of course Meiko.
