Description
We are a German family living in the countryside in Benajarafe, 30 minutes east of Malaga.
Gerhard (49) is an online journalist and Maren (38) is a language teacher and translator. Our son Levi was born in November 2022.
We own and manage a holiday rental finca in Benajarafe and a couple of other properties.
We have 1 dog and 1 cat.
At the moment we are looking for a Spanish speaker or someone who speaks German to help us with a variety of tasks.
We are looking for a kind, child- and animal loving person who wants to become part of our family for a while.
We need a bit of help with everything around daily life.
Playing with our son, maybe walk our dog every now and then and a little bit of cleaning like vacuuming and mopping and sweeping the terrace, but not much.
Ideally some spring cleaning and tasks and sorting out stuff that we never get around to doing.
There is also some gardening to be done if you like or if you are good at fixing things/painting there are always some things that need improving.
We usually make a to do list that our volunteers can work on independently.
Of course you must be an animal lover and it would be great if we could go away for a long weekend while you look after our animals once they know you (not a must)
We also regularly rescue animals and possibly need some help with that or help with catching some street cats for castration
You can also help us at our Finca- gardening or painting or come up with new ideas. We would also love to have a website.
Also we would love to have someone who likes to cook🙂 We like cooking too,but always tend to eat the same things.
So would really love to take turns at cooking, so one day one of us cooks for all of us and one day you.
We invite you to practice your German with us if you are not a native speaker or also English as we're both fluent in English.
We have been travelling a lot around the world ourselves, Maren has also been a volunteer, and we are looking to host likeminded people.
We love travelling, meeting other people from other cultures.
We are looking for mature (mentality, not necessarily age) and independent people who don't need our care and entertainment 24/7.
We love the company, cooking together, eating together etc, but we also like our privacy (especially in the evening when we like to retreat after Levi has gone to bed, then we reallyaren't for socializing anymore).
Also Maren has chronic migraine,so sometimes just needs some quiet time (the main reason why we need some help with Levi).
Please be aware that we are in the countryside and the beach, shops, bus stop are a 30 minute walk away (although we might sometimes be able to give you a ride).
So if you are easily bored or don't like walking this might not be the right place for you.
We can only host a single volunteer at the moment.
Ideally we're looking for someone who can stay around 4 weeks to be able to form a connection, but we can also host for just a week or so and give you a variety of small tasks (if the timing is right)

She is good company, uncomplicated, good with children and animals and always happy to help.
Highly recommend her to any host.
She fit right in and got on really well with Levi from the start.
She was so easy to be around, good company, but also giving us the space we needed.
You never had to ask her to do anything, she's very hands on and always saw what needed to be done and also had good ideas and proactively found herself… read more

We couldn't have asked for a better "big sister" for him.
