I stayed with Johannes for around three week and he was an amazing host. He was more than generous in what he provided and he was both interesting and insightful to talk to. In addition, he was helpful and willing to teach me German. The work was always fair and relaxed without too much pressure. He also played several card and board games with all the workawayers which was always great fun!

It was a pleasure hosting you both. You were very proactive, autonomous, and willing to help with a variety of tasks, which made things easy on my side. I really appreciated your independence and the fact that you could take initiative without needing much guidance. Thank you as well for the good energy you brought during your stay — it was nice to share this time together. I wish you both the best for your next adventures and future projects!

Encantadores, respetuosos, comprometidos.

Konrad and Emmeline are absolutely wonderful hosts- I spent almost 2 months here in total, a combination of house/dog sitting and working with them while they were home. They were great at teaching me the ropes and how their systems work so I was well set up to look after the house and the dogs while they were away. During their time away they were always easy to reach for questions/concerns/oh-shit-there-is-a-suprise-puppy. They also organised with other friends in the area for other help if needed- nice to have the back up while alone with the dogs. The house is lovely, and Emmelines cooking will definitely spoil you (especially after too long in hostel kitchens!). The communication was great, both before and during my stays, the dogs are full of personality and the area is lovely and peaceful in the forest 🌳 🏡 They are both very generous, helpful and understanding with my last minute changes in circumstances. I can't thank them enough for their time and I always enjoyed our varied dinner table discussions! 10/10 recommend them as hosts, as long as you are ready to jump into work, varied projects and don't mind getting dirty and covered in dog poop from time to time 🐕🐕‍🦺🐩

Being a volunteer was truly wonderful. This village offers so many activities beyond teaching English to kids. You can paint murals, do wood carving, join cooking classes, visit amazing local markets with the host and so much more. You can walk or bike nearby to find beautiful spots to enjoy a coffee, and I truly recommend hitchhiking, it’s so much fun and along the way you’ll discover stunning waterfalls. It never feels like a job, there’s plenty of free time to enjoy nature and relax. It’s beautiful to be able to support the local culture and community. I want to thank Pantila, Mae Nai, Buddy, and all the other volunteers who made this an unforgettable experience that I will carry in my heart forever.

Wow! What an amazing place/opportunity to explore and be apart of the jungle.,the trails and waterfalls were above and beyond expectations. Beautiful doesn’t do it justice. Ronnie and Val were wonderful and very accommodating and great people. Sleeping in the dorm bunks was such a great experience. The temperature at night was great while falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle wildlife. Met nothing but amazing guest and fellow volunteers. I originally planned on staying 2 weeks and ended up leaving after 4 weeks. Being nude in nature is a once in a lifetime experience and it was a very respectful and nonjudgmental atmosphere. I can only say, pack your bags and head to the hostel in dos Brazzos Costa Rica. Please, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. I am happy to share my experience.

I have stayed here for a month and I cried when leaving cause I loved my time there soooo much🥲 the owners are sweethearts and let you work with lots of trust from their side, the volunteer team was always around 6-8 people and we became like a family so fast. we went dancing together, had spontaneous movie nights, went hiking, to the beach etc. Pucon is really enchanting too especially with the Volcano at view (plus you can hike it up and tobbogan down). work was really chill, easy for everyone to learn, loved working the reception so much! the property is really cool too, lots of outside chill areas and just in front of the lake. highly recommended! thank you Marilyn and Tomas for everything, will totally return again!!!

Rohit was a great volunteer to have. He’s approachable, kind, patient, and fun to be around, and he adapted very quickly to the lodge’s dynamics. It didn’t take long for him to feel like part of the team. As an English teacher, we received only positive feedback. His students were motivated, enjoyed the classes, and learned a lot, which made the experience truly rewarding for everyone involved. As a person, Rohit is easy to get along with , outgoing while always being respectful and considerate. He connected well with everyone, was always willing to help, and adapted naturally to the environment. We were very happy to host Rohit and would gladly welcome him back anytime. We highly recommend him as a volunteer, you wont regret to have him! We wish you the best Rohit! The team.

I’ve hosted around 40 travelers through Couchsurfing, Couchers and Bewelcome, but sadly Louis is one of the two I wouldn’t really recommend. Of course, it’s great hat he’s rather knowledgeable and intellectual. Also, he is perfectly fluent in three languages (German, French, English), and I'm thankful to him that we could sometimes speak in German. However, he is as skilled at getting things for free (help, accommodation, recommendations, guided tours, food, drinks…) as ungrateful and inconsiderate to the people he gets them from. To give just a few examples: - he often didn’t say thank you when I did something for him or when I sent him detailed recommendations / advice / maps about an area he wants to explore (like he would read the message and not even reply); - he wouldn’t send a message to let me know what time he planned to come back home, even when it was after 11PM and he knew that I had to wait for him; - he never offered to pay for anything; - he didn’t apologize when doing something wrong or that could have put me in trouble (such as parking the bicycle I lent him in a prohibited place, where it almost got impounded by the police); - he never offered to help for anything, even though I didn’t request him to do any work in return for hosting him (despite the name “workaway”); - he didn’t unmake his bed (or do a bit of cleaning) when leaving; Etc. When somebody welcomes you into their home, gives much of their time to show you around, bring you to various places and provide you detailed information plus recommendations about the things and places you are interested in, you should be polite, respectful and express gratitude, not behave as if you were a customer in a hotel. I sometimes tried to make him realize in a soft way, but unfortunately nothing really changed and he kept behaving in a too self-centered way.

We had a truly excellent experience hosting Louise and Pierre. Pierre is highly responsible, proactive, and an outstanding web designer. During his three-week stay, he helped us completely refresh and restructure our website. He worked efficiently, demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, and delivered results with remarkable speed and aesthetic quality. In addition to design improvements, he successfully resolved several IT-related issues we had been struggling with. His technical competence and calm, solution-oriented mindset were extremely valuable to our team. Louise is thoughtful, detail-oriented, and gentle in personality. She contributed by writing professional articles and proactively helping improve our living space. She not only suggested practical improvements but also took initiative in implementing them. Her careful and considerate approach made a meaningful difference in both our work and shared environment. Both Louise and Pierre were highly respectful of our house rules and integrated smoothly with the team. Communication throughout their stay was clear, constructive, and very positive. We truly appreciated their maturity, reliability, and collaborative spirit. We are very grateful for their significant support and would confidently recommend them to other hosts.

I had a lovely time caring for Hugo for three weeks. The house is very comfortable and Hugo is adorable and easy to care for. Mia was great to communicate with and the neighbors are friendly. Stoneyford is a cute village, with a fantastic pub (where Hugo has many friends), cafe, and takeaway. If you are staying for a long time it might be nice to have a car in order to explore the area, but not necessary since there is a convenient bus into Kilkenny.

Tryggvi and Pauline are very trusting and hospitable hosts, they will provide you with everything you need for your stay and make sure that you're comfortable! I stayed with them for a week, which was very relaxed. I helped Tryggvi with repairing their couch and did some light household work like the dishes and taking out the trash. I also helped taking care of their dog Skruga, who was ill during the time I stayed (sweet thing!). On the final day, they took me to see the ruins in Hisarya and the art village nearby, something they do with all their workawayers. Pauline and Tryggvi have many stories, you'll become part of doing a Workaway there :)

Aden, Canadian is a carpenter who is skillful and hard-working. He has repaired dozen of beehives and painted. Not only that he made double screen board which is beekeeping tool for me. He is easygoing, a pleasure to talk to, and has a cheerful personality.

I had a great time volunteering with Victor Hugo at Bellavista. There's lots of different types of work to be done and you can choose what you like. I wanted to try my hands at different things so I did some harvesting, planting, landscaping, and a lot of odd jobs. Victor has lots of ideas about what he wants to do with the land but is also open and willing to listen to new ideas. There's plenty of food on the property you can eat when harvested Avocado, yuca, plantains, chayote, bananas, cocao, sugar cane. Alba's an amazing cook if you're lucky enough to be there when she's around you can try some delicious local meals. I would recommend having an intermediate understanding of Spanish or be very willing to learn because the language barrier can be difficult otherwise. Gracias para todo Victor y tu familia! Hasta luego legenda!

Hi Rachel, Thank you so much for your feedback, we truly appreciate it. Feedback is always important to us. Regarding our location, our city is not Boiçucanga as you mentioned, but São Sebastião, exactly as described on our profile. São Sebastião, is located on the North Coast of São Paulo, has more than 50 beaches — commonly estimated at around 53 beaches and coves — spread across more than 100 kilometers of coastline, from the border with Bertioga to Caraguatatuba. The city offers great diversity, including lively beaches, calm and preserved areas, and islands. Boiçucanga is one of the beaches (neighborhoods) within São Sebastião, which you can easily confirm on Google. It is also clearly stated in our profile that we are located about 1.5 kilometers from the beach. A valuable tip for future volunteers is to carefully read the entire profile, along with the reviews, to have a clearer understanding. If there are ever any doubts, we always suggest getting in touch via WhatsApp or scheduling a Zoom call — we are always happy to clarify everything beforehand. Regarding the suite, we clearly mention in our profile that the room is located by the pool, separate from the main house. We always try to deliver it very clean; however, it is each Workawayer’s responsibility to maintain it during their stay, as we do not enter the suite once you have checked in. The door has always had a lock — at that time, we did not have a spare key because the previous Workawayer had unfortunately lost it. Unfortunately, while some people love having a private room, others may sometimes feel lonely — and that can be part of traveling alone. We usually host two volunteers at the same time, but as mentioned, it was the end of the school year, which made that period a little different from our usual dynamic. You were here in November 2024, and it was truly a joy to host you. We are grateful for the time you spent with us and wish you all the best in your journey.

Me and my partner stayed with Allie for ten days and left with mixed feelings. Let me start by saying that Allie was very present and welcoming before we were even at her house. She responded the messages quickly and was very flexible in our arrival and departure day. This was very pleasant!! Also, her place is very beautiful and you will find incredible nature and places to just relax completely. On the other hand, we barely spoke to Allie since we had arrived on the farm. She made it clear from the beginning that she would not take upon any effort to guide us in the garden or show us around, but we had to kind of figure it out ourselves. I think we talked to her only for 30 minutes in all these 10 days and. I think it is really kind that she wants to open her house for travelers and welcome them for free, it definitely made our trip in Belize a lot more comfortable. But we did not really feel welcome besides that., ##child name redacted## her cute and funny son, was longing for some companionship and hoping to spend all his time with the volunteers of the Workaway. There might have been an underlying expectation of playing with and taking care of ##child name redacted## as a volunteer, but this was never explained or talked about. It felt kind of overwhelming. Overall, it was really nice to have a free and nature located place to stay, but we felt really awkward...

Konohana and Hazuki are really nice, comfortable, adaptable and very fun persons. Even they are unique and different persons they seem to complement each other. They are really good friends together. They were very interesting of our life, things to do . They took a part of our life: to bake and cook , to make snow moving, play games, go to the forest even the weather was cold and there was so much snow to walk to middle of nowhere. They were like survivors. They taught us more from Japanese culture and life, and we could taste their delicious food. It was pity that the time in our place was so short. We can recommend to take them to your houses! We miss you .

Cecile was one of the most responsible volunteers we have ever had. She took on the role of leading the volunteer group to follow the rules and make sure everything works smoothly. The members of our speaking club loved her energy and creative activities. Her most important quality is being proactive, about the speaking sessions, the conversation circles and cultural exchange activities. We learned a lot about the Dutch culture thanks to her. Even though she didn't have much experience with teaching before, everyone who took her sessions left the place happy and improved! We would love to host her again for a longer period of time :)
