Hi! I’m Rohit

I’m a researcher in genomics and biophysics, currently taking a break before starting my next job. I’m based in New York and have been traveling since April — visiting over 14 countries, doing a couple of Workaways, and even became a pilot doing paragliding along the way.

I really enjoy working with my hands and solving problems — whether that’s cooking, gardening, fixing things, or helping out with anything computer-related. I’m good with tech and happy to help set up devices, build websites, organize digital files, or troubleshoot when something’s not working right.

I’m easygoing, quick to learn, and always up for lending a hand wherever needed. I’ll be available for Workaways in November and December and would love to join a project where I can help out, learn something new, and share good company.

I'm keen on learning new languages and improving the ones I already know. While I have extensive experience in biomedical labs, I'd prefer to take a break from that during my travels.
I've done various hands-on tasks, including minor repairs, carpentry, and plenty of gardening—growing vegetables, herbs, and some fruits. I also have a lot of experience pet-sitting, mostly for cats and dogs, but also for bunnies, chickens, and rodents.
During university, I tutored to support myself and still enjoy teaching science and math. I get along great with kids and helped care for my 4 year old nephew.

What else ...

I’ve traveled extensively—mostly backpacking or road-tripping—and I’m always looking for the next adventure. I love being active and outdoors, and I enjoy playing sports like football and volleyball. I’m also into adventure sports and have tried skydiving, jet skiing, and white-water rafting—always up for trying something new! When I’m not on the move, I enjoy playing chess (happy to share a few tips!) and hanging out with friends over board games or card games. I’m very social and love good conversation, especially over food or drinks. Fun fact: I used to do competitive trivia—though in the age of Google, that might be becoming a lost art!
