Hello, I'm Australian currently travelling in Argentina.

I am a 32years old Social Worker/ Therapist working online. I provide counselling and therapy for work so I am great with people and developing genuine relationships. I also facilitate meditation classes and am currently completing my course in Yoga teaching and alternative-medicines for therapeutic use. I love having deep and meaningful conversations about life. I truly believe the relationships we have and experiences we go on is what life is all about.
I am a very active person. I love any outdoors activity and exercise such as: running, yoga, skydiving, riding my bike, gym, dancing.

I am a native English speaker and speak Brazilian Portuguese. I'm currently learning Spanish as I travel as my boyfriend is from Venezuela.
I would also love to meet people from other cultures and experience what other cultures have to offer including spiritual traditions, food and lifestyle. I hope to also make friendships along the way!

My work experience involves working with people providing mental health support and counselling. I provide therapy and host meditation classes in Australia.

Unfortunately we were given completely inaccurate information about this exchange.
We arrived after a long trip from Brazil and a 3 hour drive from Medellin (very expensive ride $350,000 pesos from Medellin airport which the organiser recommended us this driver despite later realising the bus was significantly cheaper). We were told we would be … read more volunteering with 5 or 6 other volunteers but when we arrived there was 15!.

There was no space for us to put our belongings as all lockers were full. Instead of being greeted by the organisers/owners, we instead had very unfriendly people at reception saying "volunteers?.. ok this way".. not exactly very welcoming given we were coming to offer our time for free. We were shown around the property which was a complete construction zone.

We were then informed we would be on a roster doing cleaning duties and helping with random construction tasks. Yet, the agreement we had made with Andrew was that we would be able to assist with photography and social media and on a flexible schedule to allow us to work as well. I also confirmed 3 times that there was private confidential spaces to work online with strong internet... which there was not.

The internet was patchy, no private spaces for volunteers and with construction definitely not appropriate for online meetings. We were then sent to the other villa in town as we were told there was more privacy which was true however, the internet there was even worse to try and work. There was also no one there to orient us so we sat there for hours waiting to eventually be taken to a room. After realising we were unable to work, we left on the last bus back to Medellin.

I was extremely excited by the sound of this opportunity and to assist with promotion of this retreat space for their social media (which looks incredible online) and after reading such wonderful reviews on here.. however, with the place under construction, it was not ready for us or any kind of promotion. We are really disappointed to spent lots of time and money to go all the way there only to find it was nothing like what we were told. I feel they are telling people inaccurate information just to have more free hands to assist with the construction. It did not seem like they care about the volunteers at all. This may be appropriate for volunteers who don't need to work online and are happy to do any random task however, the organisers should be clear to the volunteers prior to them coming to a remote destination.

I'd like to note the volunteer coordinator (another volunteer) was lovely, transparent and understanding. She was the ONLY person who checked in on us and apologised for the misinformation. We heard nothing from the original organisers after leaving. Andrew was not on-site and I believe the other owner was there but did not greet us or speak to us at all. Maybe this place is completely different when it is not under construction but sadly, it was not ready for social media promotion and not appropriate for digital nomads that need private space for working.
