After being in a calm period with no visitors, receiving the companionship of Iñaki was a pleasure. His visit, even short, was delightful with great and interesting talks. His philosophy is so into mental and spiritual well-being. He really appreciates the places where he is and deeply enjoyed the landscapes shown in the places visited, as much as he made me think that I should value them more. But the experience was not only talks and thoughts. He is really open to help in whatever is needed; at home he helps with bringing water and connecting a hose from a deposit. Also, he was up to collecting stones to continue with the kitchen's foundation. Hard work, I know, but he was not upset about it. And if there were few, he motivated me to clean an area I had been delaying for a long time. Thanks a lot, Iñaki. You know this is your home and you always will be welcome. Btw thanks for the radio; it sounds great :)

I loved my time in Villa de Leyva and ended up extending my stay. I lived with lovely people and a cat. Anaïs is very organised, responsive and understanding. The students were great and I learnt so much from them. You will have lots of opportunity to be creative in your lessons. The town is gorgeous and I felt safe. I highly recommend this experience if you want to learn Spanish (lessons included as part of the volunteering) and if you’d like to try out teaching. Thank you sooo much ❤️

Femke helped us at our hostel in Pichilemu for more than a month. She is a calm, sociable, friendly, and trustworthy person. She was always willing to help and collaborate with everything. She easily integrated into the work team and shared many joyful moments with us. We hope everything goes very well for her, and if she ever wants to come back, the doors of our hostel will always be open to her.

Even though Nora came at a time when there wasn't really that much to do, I am both glad and thankful she came. Too cold to take long walks together, almost no snow to shovel, too early for real garden work... She was my "automatic dishwasher", made dinner several times, helped me sort out a few stubborn piles of "stuff", etc. No "big" jobs, but many small... And always encouraged me to keep moving - needed for a "couch potato"!

Ulrich was a wonderful Workawayer to host. He is very proactive, dynamic, and always ready to help with a great attitude. He adapts easily to new situations and quickly understands what needs to be done, which makes working together very smooth. He is also very autonomous and reliable — once he has the instructions, you can fully trust him to organize his work independently. On top of that, he brings a lot of positive energy, humor, and good spirit to daily life, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. Ulrich clearly enjoys being active and involved, and his motivation shows in everything he does. It was a real pleasure to host him, and I would happily recommend him to any future host.

Rose was a mature, reliable, and friendly volunteer who worked extremely hard during her time with us. She completed every task asked of her without hesitation and to a high standard. She was wonderful with the cats — they clearly loved her, and she genuinely cared for each one. I could always rely on her to show up, take responsibility, and keep everything clean, organised, and running smoothly. Rose was a valued member of the team, and I would highly recommend her for any future role, especially one involving animal care or teamwork.

Morten's project is very ambitious, his vision for the place is huge, but its a bit of an uphill struggle for the time being! The bungalow is now livable, with a working shower and toilet,( when there's water! ) There are power cuts pretty much every day,( which is a bit of a problem for the fridge); and also pretty much every day, the water supply from the village stops, either due to it just being turned off for a while, or a leak in the pipe, of which we found several! The well is also finished now, but not for drinking. There is now an outdoor kitchen so you can cook for yourself, but for the moment it has no roof, so not sure how that will work in the rainy season! We made a few improvements to it, like a wind break, and a shade cover, and also some furniture out of spare planks; a table and some stools and benches. We made a BBQ pit too, and actually started on a second teepee hut, which maybe finished by now hopefully! Jambiani is a fabulous place, we loved it; the people are really friendly, everyone says hello in the street, we met some lovely people there. We also decided to contact one of the local schools, and painted some murals there in our spare time, and arranged a visio exchange with one of the classes, with a teacher friend of ours in France and her class. All in all, a very rewarding experience.

Living in the mountains in Spain was an amazing experience for me!! Pablo is very kind and hardworking. He gave us time to rest during siesta and took us to many beautiful places in the evening. Gardening was a little difficult for me because I was not used to it, but the warm sunshine felt so good, and walking around was the best part of my day. I’m happy to see Pablo’s garden becoming more beautiful little by little. I really hope to visit him again someday.

Having Luce with us for a month and a half was a wonderful experience; time flew by! She's an extraordinary girl, very respectful, hardworking, and she quickly grasps the tasks explained to her. She has a fantastic way with animals (horses, dogs, and a cat), and in just a few days, it felt like she had always been part of our family. Highly recommended for any host. I hope he comes back to visit us :-)

I had a good time at the animal rescue. I met so many amazing people from all over the world and had a great time with the other volunteers. There is always someone to talk to or spend time with. The volunteers did a lot of activities together like visiting different cities, going to the forest, watching movies and playing games. I loved getting to know everyone and learning about their cultures. The work is very physically hard and dirty but very rewarding and nice once you get used to it. You will be surrounded by horses and dogs and pigs and goats at all times, which is great if you love animals. It can take a few days to settle in, both with the work and the living situation (one bath for all volunteers and a lot of noise and dogs in the kitchen) but once you have gotten used to it, it’s fun. However, I think there is a lack of training of the volunteers. The volunteers are thrown into the work with no real introduction or training and are expected to learn from the other volunteers that have also only been there for a short time. Also, the staff and management would unfortunately often speak to us in a very harsh tone or write rude messages. I found there to be a lack of appreciation of and respect for the volunteers.

¡Muchas gracias! Con cariño :3 Maku y Capi

Tienna spent a couple of weeks with us in February, and was a fabulous person to host. We learned so much from her while she was here, and she was brilliant in helping out around the place. She is practical, smart, sees what has to be done before you even ask. We really enjoyed hosting her, and appreciated her very much. We wish Tienna all the very best in her future, and would recommend her to any host lucky enough to be messaged by her.

This was one of a kind experience for me and I am endlessly thankful to Daeli and the others for this opportunity. I got to paint the walls as a mural artist and everyone loved it, so that was sweet! While it is accurate to the description and pictures, don't romaticize sailing. It is hard and not always comfortable, but it is also challenging and fun. The boat is in a good enough condition to sail and we as volunteers were improving it every day by fixing and renovating the space. The boat does not have a bathroom, this is an important piece of information that should be included in the description. Also, sailing is popular in French community, so not knowing French will be a challenge for you while sailing. But other than that you'll get to learn so many things for free while sharing costs for food and water. You can definitely trust these people with your life and money.

My experience with Sofia was really amazing. As we met in the days that I was new in host volunteers but she was a super kind. Yes I guided her just because it was my country but she took me to Zanzibar the land in which it was my first time to be there so we were guiding each other 🤣😂 They were funny moments there, she is a super girl, full of energy and charming. She more listen and very easy to cope with new environment. You will never regret to work and stay with her. I wish her good luck in her next adventures Teacher Boaz

Jeremias was a wonderful volunteer! He was proactive and helpful. He helped with the daily classes and also did a special activity about the stars which the kids loved! It was great having him with us!
