    Description

Do you enjoy teaching languages or always wanted to try?
Do you want to improve your Spanish?
    Then come and join us!

We are an international language institute located in Villa de Leyva, Colombia, a few hours north of Bogotá, and we are looking for native speakers to teach their language, especially English, French, and German, to students of all ages: children, teenagers, and adults.

We offer private and group classes with a limit of 5 students per class. Most of our teaching activities take place at the institute, but as part of our social impact program, we also go to rural schools to teach English to children from low-income families.

We have been working with volunteers for more than 3 years now and we love it! We want to give you the opportunity to spend time in Colombia and know more about its unique culture and traditions and meet some of the friendliest and warmest people you will ever meet. Our goal is to help you have a fulfilling experience and make you feel at home.
If you join us, you will get accommodation and 5 hours of Spanish classes per week.

Are you a whizz on WordPress? Love posting on Insta? We're always keen to get a tech-savvy person here to help us with web and social, if you're a keen videographer and photographer too - that's an added bonus!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You will have lots of opportunities to learn about the Colombian culture, whether it is through conversations with your students and the local community, or during the Spanish classes you can take every week.

Villa de Leyva is a major tourist destination and is famous for its colonial architecture, white buildings, red tile roofs, stone streets and large main square. It is a quiet and beautiful town that has a lot to offer: delicious restaurants, cozy coffee shops, beautiful mountains and waterfalls, museums, festivals, and very friendly locals.

    Help

If you decide to join us, you will teach private and group classes, and go once a week to a rural school to teach larger groups of kids with a fellow volunteer.

We are open Monday to Saturday morning.
You will teach between 3 and 5 hours of classes per day.
Schedules tend to change regularly, and you will most likely have classes in the morning and in the afternoon.

We expect you to be punctual, prompt, and reliable, to cooperate with us and fellow team members, and to prepare your classes and adapt your teaching strategies to student needs. We favor the communicative approach and comprehension-based methods in our classes. We have different books and materials to guide you and help you teach.

In addition to teaching, you may be asked to do promotional work for the institute.

You can expect an inclusive and welcoming culture, respect for your time, commitment, and skills, and regular meetings with us. We will also provide housing and 5 hours of Spanish classes per week.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will share a house with 5 other volunteers. It is located on the outskirts of town, a 20-minute walking distance from the institute. It has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a big living room and kitchen, a washing machine and a good Internet connection.

It is very important for us to know that you are okay with sharing a house, as it will be a big part of your experience here, and that you will respect the house rules.

    What else ...

In your free time you can go on hikes or bike rides, go out for food or drinks and visit museums. If you like to cook, you will find that the food is pretty cheap.
Public transportation is comfortable and cheap, so you can easily visit small towns nearby.

Villa de Leyva is 3 hours away from the northern terminal of Bogota. By bus, it will cost you around 35.000 Colombian pesos to get here. It is a good idea to bring cash although you will find ATMs without problem.
