You are welcome to share your skills and passion with a local community in the Amazon forest in Peru.
It is a great opportunity to help the locals and explore this magnificent area!
We are located in Iquitos, Peru, which is a port city and gateway to the jungle lodges and tribal villages of the northern Amazon.
You will be working with a local NGO helping in after-school activities for kids and teens. We are a small NGO established by amazing local women. Our program is focused on empowering kids and teens through education in rural areas in the Amazon forest of Peru.
This is personalized volunteering, meaning you decide with the program coordinator what position is best for you and suits your skills. The volunteering hours are flexible and are designed for your time and your volunteering program. This leaves plenty of time to explore the area and combine activities with the volunteering experience!

The impact you can make is enormous: Most kids come from impoverished communities waiting for the chance to study and break the cycle of poverty.
Our main focuses are helping in the day-to-day classes, empowering the kids, and assisting in developing programs and workshops.
There are many ways that we could use your help:
*Teaching classes to the children (arts and crafts, sports, music, supporting our English teacher, supporting our math teacher, etc.)
* Leading workshops for local teenagers (such as yoga, dance, health etc..)
* Helping with administration and preparing teaching materials
*Helping in social media and graphic design projects
* supporting the local activities and event organisation
* Light maintenance and building knowledge
* If you are a social worker or psychologist looking for an internship
This volunteering suits people who like to spend time with kids, who can create and lead projects, and who are independent and responsible.
We also require an intermediate level of Spanish, because our teachers and kids communicate almost only in Spanish. This will ensure a better experience for you and the team.

Accommodation
You will stay with a lovely local family in a city neighbourhood and can experience the Amazonian way of life.
You will have a bed in a shared room, and you will share the kitchen and bathroom with the family. There is Wi-Fi, but there is no hot water.
Additionally, we kindly ask you to contribute 5 $ per night per person, this money will go directly to the host family to cover the costs of purified water, tea, and coffee (that you can use all day). Additionally, it will cover the cost of a local and delicious breakfast (buffet style that will include eggs, bread and spreads, local fruit, milk and more)
You can use the kitchen to cook for yourself.
