My stay at thisplace was fantastic. I spent the whole month of February there and I would have loved to stay longer. Kiera and Jason were very kind and proactive, keeping me informed about everything from the very beginning. I shared the space with 4 volunteers at first, and then with 3 others, so you’re never alone. The tasks involve making sure the rooms are tidy and managing the reception (bookings, phone calls, check-ins, and check-outs) for 5 hours about 4 or 5 days a week. The hostel is great and has perfect spaces for working, relaxing, or socializing with guests. It’s located just 100m from the beach, in one of the best surfing areas in the world. Thanks to Kiera, Jason, Kate, and everyone here for the opportunity

I had a great stay with Mike, Peggy, and Pat and enjoyed learning about what can be grown in a desert environment. During my stay, I helped gather eggs, care for the chickens, and worked in the gardens and the underground greenhouse (which was neat to see--I really enjoyed learning about the design and purpose of this structure!) There was a cultural festival going on in a nearby town during my visit--Mike took all of us workawayers out to see the event, which was a great side trip to experience some of the culture and history of the region. Plus Mike makes for a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, pointing out things of interest along the way there and back. Peggy knows a lot about wild, edible foods that grow in the region and everyone I met during my stay was welcoming and friendly. My trip was last-minute and loosely planned, as I was sharing a ride with my husband, who was traveling for work. Mike invited me to come stay despite the short notice and even had a camper ready I could stay in. (I had originally planned to tent camp and it was a nice surprise to end up in one of the many accommodations available at the farm.) I enjoyed the work and the communal meals shared in the evenings; everyone pitched in to help prepare delicious meals enjoyed in good company. Looking forward to a return trip in the future, where I'll plan to stay longer next time. A month or more at this site would be great as there's lots to see/do/learn on the farm, as well as lots of great hiking options nearby too.

My time in Raglan was really special, especially because of the time I spent in Suz's little paradise. I ended up staying for about a month because both Suz and Raglan itself gave me so much in terms of local knowledge, things to do, peace, and great connections. My daily routine mostly involved working in the garden and food forest. I did weeding, planting, digging, pruning, and composting. The work was straightforward and the communication with Suz was excellent. I worked around 3–4 hours daily. Suz was also really helpful in connecting me with the local community and initiatives like the crop swap, farmers' market, and community farming. Accommodation-wise, I stayed in a cozy little cabin with an open-air kitchen where everything I needed for cooking was provided. The toilet and shower were open-air as well. I had no issues staying there; it was actually really nice to build my routine around the weather and connect with the elements—it felt like 'fancy camping.' For food, I bought and cooked my own meals, but Suz was kind enough to let me use veggies from the garden, provided some basic ingredients, and even shared amazing meals with me every now and then. I cannot recommend Suz's place and Raglan enough as a space to connect with nature and slow down. A truly great experience!

We initially chose this workaway for the language exchange and we couldn't have asked for a better experience, it was beyond wonderful. Not only did we stay in a very beautiful place but you could always learn some new craft or story from any of the member of this wonderful family. One of the things Nina first told me was to be curious and it paid off, as every corner of Abbey House has some history or sight to discover. Take care of this amazing family (and outstanding neighbours) as I'm sure they will take care of you. Thank you for everything, hope to see you again soon. Tip: Waterproof boots (Merrell style) are a must if you are coming in rainy months.

Once again Workaway has delivered. What a fabulous time we had with Nellie and Nick, assisting in getting the garden ready for a photo shoot, and getting a couple of little painting jobs completed. Every night was filled with stimulating conversation and wonderful meals. The town of Port Fairy is a small, very picturesque coastal town which punches well above it's weight in terms of local attractions, quality restaurants and pubs and of course location. Should be on every ones destination list. Thank you Nellie and Nick for being such wonderful hosts and hopefully our paths will cross again.

To start with, Julia (Giulia) contacted me first and she was polite and responded nicely. Seeing her experience as an English teacher in Japan, I knew we were a good fit. Moreover, she knows how to teach a wide range of students, from young learners to examp preparations such as TOEFL and IELTS. During her stay, she helped us very nicely. She cooperated well and was active when it comes to teaching preparations and classroom management. She could adapt well in new environment with new students and teachers. She worked well with my staff. We even did one outdoor activity which was Chinese New Year celebration by making lantern craft for children. It was amazing. I strongly recommend anyone who whishes to have a volunteer to teach in their centers to invite Julia. She is independent, can adapt well, and is very good at teaching. We even learned from her about teaching phonics since she did it a lot in Japan. Her experience teaching in Japan helped a lot during her stay with us. Best wishes for Julia and feel free to come back here anytime soon.

I volunteered at this hostel for two months (extended initial 1st month) and had a truly positive experience. From organizing movie nights and outings to joining unique excursions, I was able to see firsthand how thoughtfully the hostel is run and how much care goes into creating a welcoming atmosphere. Claudia brings great energy, and Hugo has a calm, thoughtful presence, and both were incredibly accommodating — even replacing my mattress when I had back pain to ensure I was comfortable. The breakfasts are beautiful each morning, and my only regret is not learning some of the recipes. I’m very grateful for my time there and would happily recommend it to both guests and volunteers.

We spent three amazing weeks at Caro's place during a bit of a special time where she and her family were away on holiday. She trusted us with leaving their kitten in our care and introduced us to her parents and colleagues who we mostly communicated with the weeks she was away. At the school we helped out doing different tasks as they were preparing for the new school year. We built football goals, put together new furniture, helped out in the kitchen and did a bit of work outside gardening and organizing the recycling. The staff is super friendly, especially Mai who works in the kitchen who we spent most time with :-) The cabin is rustic but super cozy. You've got your own bathroom with hot water, a small kitchen with everything you need to cook simple meals and a TV with Netflix for rainy days. There's a supermarket a short walk away and from there you can get a bus directly to the center of Bariloche. We got around fine with the bus connections and did some beautiful hikes in the area on the weekends. Caro and her family are very hospitable and helpful. We truly had the best time and only give our warmest recommendations.

Peter and Anne are both excellent people. They're really kind, welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like home. It was really interesting to talk with them and listen about their travels. Their property is such a pretty place to explore and hike. The work was clear and easy to do. We enjoyed a lot our stay there and we will miss throwing sticks for Ruby.

I very much enjoyed Jack and Nicole's visit to my farm for January and February. The weather was horrible but they cheerfully planted more than two thousand trees in the rain as well as helping out with lots other tasks around the farm. Jack is a very capable mechanic and serviced my tractors as well as fixing multiple other issues with various machines and equipment. Both Jack and Nicole were willing to take on a variety of tasks, including being left in charge of cattle, sheep and everything else on the farm when I went away for a few days. They completed jobs to a high standard and were always friendly and cheerful to have around. Thank you Jack and Nicole!

Cecilia is a great woman with a heart of gold and I can definitely recommend staying with her! I arrived at a time that was a little stressful as the main project was the bathroom renovation and additionally I was really overwhelmed by our language barrier as neither of us spoke the language of the other person sufficiently well. However, Cecilia was very understanding once I approached her and took the time to patiently talk to me and find a solution that worked for both of us. Once I was feeling better, we had a great time working at her place! One thing I sincerely love, is laughing with Cecilia and our situation was truly comical :D Last but not least Cecilia is a great teacher, showing me her skills in bread making, cooking ln her argentinian stove or how to properly take care of her plants and the medical purposes that they have :) I wish her all the best and hope that maybe one day I can come back!

Leng spent two rainy weeks in February with us. There were very few moments for outside work, so we stayed mainly around the sheepwool, brushing and carding our wool. We did even work together on the old spinningwheel. It was fun, could have become boring without an intense exchange and lots of talks. It was a wonderful way to spend a rainy season.

An incredible month volunteering in the community of Suwa 🤍 One month filled with discoveries, learning experiences, and unforgettable encounters. Every family welcomed me with immense generosity: inviting me to share their traditional drink, chicha, going fishing together… simple moments, yet so precious. Every morning, I spent time at school with children aged 5 to 11. It was incredibly enriching, full of laughter, energy, and joy. Their curiosity and spontaneity taught me so much. An unforgettable experience — disorienting at times, but deeply meaningful and necessary. The kind of adventure everyone should experience at least once in their life. A huge thank you to Patricio, the project leader, who supported me before my arrival and on the ground with all the necessary information and great kindness. If you’re hesitating to take the leap: don’t 💛

Luca is an incredibly kind, modest, and sweet person. He doesn't need much or demand attention; he's gentle and attentive. He's a wonderful person to have around. Luca is always willing to do chores and is very eager to learn. It was an honor to have him on our farm, and we hope to see him again someday. Luca, thank you for everything, and all the best. Love from us.

Vicky and Karen are amazing girls! Staying with them made me experience sisterhood on a whole different Level - Vicky also took me to the market, to a waterfall, I joined a group tour she organized and afterwards we took a Mutatu. Additionally we watched many videos from different cultural dances of the Luos and other tribes. They taught me so so much about their culture and did it in such a fun and natural way that it didn't even feel like learning! They are truly proud Kenyans and I loved how passionately they talked about their country. Vicky and I also had some good late night talks and the work wasn't hard at all! Vickys project is truly amazing and generally she's such a beautiful and special character. It felt like staying with a sister I never had. I'm so happy I got to meet you! And Karen: Text me when you come to Germany - you're more than welcome at any time!! All the best girls, lots of love to you! And see u again someday:)

our experience at Andy's place was really lovely, we spent there three weeks with a really bad weather but he and his wonderful dog Unai made it a great time, we had lots of fun both in the working time and the free time, going to the beach and making good food, as well as relaxing and taking trips to the villages nearby. Andy is a really cool person, always smiley and willing to make good chats!
