Hi, I’m Giulia.

I’m an International Relations graduate with a deep curiosity for people, cultures, and ways of living. I’ve spent over 12 years traveling worldwide working on the organization of Olympic-related events, an experience that strengthened my adaptability and broadened my perspective. During the preparation of Tokyo 2020, I found myself in Japan during COVID, and what started as an unexpected pause became a new chapter of my life there.

I love road travel, the sea, nature, and wildlife, and I’m especially drawn to experiences that involve cultural exchange, outdoor life, and meaningful contribution.

After many years of continuous work, I’m now taking a gap year to slow down, meet new people, explore new places, and challenge myself in new environments.

More details about my language interests
As a European, I’ve been studying languages throughout my entire academic and professional life. I have a specialization in linguistics and sociolinguistics, which allows me to approach language teaching beyond vocabulary and grammar, considering phonetics, literature, cultural background, historical context, and how languages are actually used in contemporary settings. During my years teaching in Japan, I was responsible for lesson planning and designing creative learning activities for students of different ages and levels. I’m constantly researching and learning new aspects of the languages I speak through exchange with others, and I genuinely enjoy sharing this knowledge and helping people gain confidence in communication.

I speak Italian and English at native level, I’m fluent in French and Japanese, and I have a basic knowledge of German. I worked for five years as an English teacher in Japan, teaching students from kindergarten and preschool age up to university level. Alongside teaching, I also worked part-time as a media manager and content creator for a multinational brand, gaining experience in communication, digital content creation, and social media management. I enjoy photography and video editing.

I’m a PADI-certified diver and hold a boat license for both motor and sailing yachts. I have a 3rd Dan in Kyudo (Japanese archery) and I’m comfortable with active, hands-on tasks. I consider myself reliable, adaptable, and motivated to learn new skills while contributing seriously to the projects I join.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, drawing, practicing tennis, and Kyudo. I also enjoy open-world and RPG video games from time to time, especially as a way to relax and explore creative storytelling.
