  ABOUT US
  We (44/42/10/ 6) have been living in Tenerife almost 10 years. We had our first home near Santa Cruz for 4 years. Later we spent almost 3 years on the north-western tip of the island and then moved to the beautiful mountains above Icod de los Vinos, Tenerife North in June 2023. At our 9400 square meter finca at 500 meters above sea level we enjoy our quiet life- as quiet as it can be with our 2 daughters, 2 cats and a large group of chickens.
  We invite you become a temporary family member for the time of your stay.
  Not only can we enjoy spectacular sunsets over the sea but also look in amazement at the highest mountain of Spain: el Teide (almost 3800 meters). We are located in Llanito Perera, which belongs to Icod de los Vinos. The way to the finca leads through narrow streets and only the few neighbors that live even higher in the mountains will pass our finca (approximately 5 cars a day - the very same 5 cars ;-) The road is a dead end.
  We have been living here since June 2023, but we have transformed many things already. On a finca like this, certainly there are always things to do and we'll never be finished.

  ÜBER UNS
  Wir (44/42/10/6) leben seit fast 10 Jahren auf Teneriffa. Unser erstes Zuhause hatten wir 4 Jahre lang ganz in der Nähe von Santa Cruz. Danach verbrachten wir 3 Jahre an der Nordwest-Spitze der Insel und sind im Juni 2023 in die wunderschönen Berge über Icod de los Vinos an der Nordküste Teneriffas gezogen. Auf unserer über 9400 Quadratmeter-Finca 500 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel genießen wir unser ruhiges Leben - so ruhig ein Leben eben sein kann, mit unseren 2 Töchtern, 2 Katzen und einer Horde Hühnern.
  Du bist eingeladen, ein temporäres Familienmitglied für die Zeit deines Aufenthaltes bei uns zu sein.
  Von Finca aus können wir nicht nur spektakuläre Sonnenuntergänge im Meer beobachten, sondern auch in Staunen auf den höchsten Berg Spanien, den Teide (fast 3800 Meter hoch), blicken. Wir wohnen in Llanito Perera, ein Ortsteil von Icod de los Vinos. Der Weg zur Finca führt durch enge Straßen und nur die wenigen Nachbarn, die noch höher in den Bergen wohnen, fahren mit ihren Autos an der Finca vorbei (das sind ungefähr 5 Autos pro Tag- dieselben Autos pro Tag ;-) Die Straße ist eine Sackgasse.
  Wir wohnen seit Mitte 2023 hier und haben schon sehr viel verwandelt, aus- und umgebaut. Eine Sache ist auf einer so großen Finca jedoch sicher: Ab jetzt werden wir mit der Arbeit nie fertig sein.

  THE FINCA
  The finca used to be a vineyard and a professional vegetable farm. Today, the finca is a place for a healthy lifestyle, faith, and community. All the original buildings and facilities of the vineyard are still in place, although extensive renovation and restoration work has been carried out, and they now serve different purposes.The oldest part of the finca is a small house officially dated to the 1880s. There are domestic premises as well as several utility sheds and garages. We have an irrigation system and a huge water tank installed. There are orange and mandarine trees, a huge fig tree, nisperos (japanese medlars), grapes, plums and peaches and all kinds of aromatic herbs and wild fennel. We already planted a big variety of fruit trees, but they surely need some more time and much love to give fruit.
  On the huge acre we already grow vegetables, but there is still a lot more space to extend the garden to eventually be self - sufficient. Here we definitely need helpers who want to learn and practice ecological gardening. There’s always work to do: planting, watering, harvesting, getting rid of weeds… We'd love to host persons who don't mind getting their hands dirty.
  
  DIE FINCA
  Die Finca war früher ein Weingut und eine professionelle Gemüse-Zucht. Jetzt ist Finca ein Ort zur Begegnung für gesunden Lifestyle, Glauben und Gemeinschaft.
  Es sind auch noch alle Räumlichkeiten und Anlagen des Weinguts vorhanden, wenngleich es mittlerweile umfangreiche Renovierungs- und Sanierungsarbeiten, sodass die jetzt andere Funktionen bekommen haben.
  Das älteste Gebäude auf der Finca ist ein kleines Häuschen, das 1880 offiziell registriert wurde. Es gibt verschiedene Wohnräume, sowie einige Garagen und Schuppen. Außerdem gibt es einen riesigen Wassertank und ein Bewässerungssystem für die komplette Finca. Hier wachsen schon Mandarinen und Orangen, Nisperos (Mispeln), Feigen, Pflaumen, Pfirsiche, Trauben, allerlei Kräuter und endlos viel wilder Fenchel. Dazu haben wir zahlreiche Obstbäume gepflanzt, doch die brauchen noch etwas Zeit und Liebe, bis sie Früchte tragen.
  Mittlerweile haben wir einen schönen Gemüse-Garten angelegt. Da ist aber noch viel Platz für Erweiterungen. Das Ziel ist es, dass wir letztlich Selbstversorger werden. Der riesige Acker auf der Finca bietet immer einiges an Arbeit: Bepflanzung, Ernte, Bewässerung, Unkraut rausreißen. Hier suchen wir immer Helfer, die ökologischen Landbau gemeinsam mit uns erlernen wollen, also Menschen, die es glücklich macht, mit Händen in der Erde zu wühlen.
  
  
  
  THE CLOSEST TOWN
  The small town of Icod de los Vinos is located in the north west of Tenerife. It has a beautiful old town and invites you to sit on a park bench and just watch or discover the little shops. There are some well known sights in town or nearby such as the 1000 year old dragon tree (drago milenario), cueva de los vientos (a lava cave) and a butterfly park (mariposario). This area of the island is also famous for its banana plantations which shape the coastal landscape. In Icod you will find everything you need shopping wise and there’s also the closest bigger bus terminal. Every Saturday and Sunday there are markets in Icod where you can enjoy local arts and crafts.
  
  DIE NÄCHSTGELEGENE STADT
  Die Kleinstadt Icod de los Vinos liegt an der Nordwestküste Teneriffas. Sie hat eine schöne Altstadt und lädt ein, einfach auf einer Parkbank zu sitzen und das Leben zu beobachten. Es gibt einige bekannte Sehenswürdigkeiten wie den 1000 Jahre alten Drachenbaum, ein Schmetterlingshaus (mariposario) und eine Lava- Höhle (cueva del viento). Dieser Teil der Insel ist bekannt für seine Bananenplantagen, die die Landschaft an der Küste prägen. In Icod findest du alles, was Du brauchst und dort ist auch der nächste größere Busbahnhof. Samstags und sonntags gibt es einen Kunsthandwerksmarkt.
  
  
  
  PUBLIC TRANSPORT
  As for public transport
  There's a small private mini bus company that runs their vehicles every 3 hours from Monday to Friday down to Icod. The station is about 1 kilometer away. In Icod you find the central bus station from where you can catch buses to every place of the island. We’ve had volunteers here who walked down to Icod which took them about 45 minutes, by car it’s about 10 minutes.
  We are flexible and support you with your local discovery tours - we can take you somewhere by scooter or car. You are also invited to join us for excursions, beach or visits to friends'.
  
  ÖFFIS
  Bezüglich öffentlicher Verkehrsmittel
  Es gibt eine Verbindung mit Mini-Bus, der dich montags bis freitags ca. alle 3 Stunden runter nach Icod bzw wieder hoch bringt. Die Haltestelle ist ca. 1km entfernt von der Finca. In Icod ist der Busbahnhof, von wo aus Busse an alle Orte der Insel fahren. Wir hatten schon Volontäre hier, die auch gern nach Icod runtergelaufen sind- das dauert etwa 45 Minuten, im Auto 10 Minuten.
  Wir sind flexibel und unterstützen dich gern bei deinen Insel-Entdeckertouren, indem wir dich mit dem Roller oder Auto zum Bus bringen. Du bist eingeladen uns bei Familienausflügen, Strand oder Besuch bei Freunden zu begleiten.
  
  
  
  TENERIFE NORTE
  The area here is especially attractive for nature lovers and friends of exercise in the fresh air. Some minutes by car up the mountain you can enjoy pine tree forests and stunning views at the sea. In a 15 minutes drive downwards we can reach the closest beach from here - Playa San Marcos. At this black sand natural beach you can have a swim or snorkel, attend yoga classes if you fancy or have walks along the coast. Depending on the waves you can also do stand up paddling there. There’s a bus from Icod to San Marcos- or you walk the 3km distance through banana plantations and beautiful nature.
  There are countless hiking trails within a short distance. By bus you can also reach Garachico in a short ride which is always worth a visit. This village is one of the 10 most beautiful villages of Spain. Not only does it have a cute old town but also you can choose if you want to have a bath in the natural rock pools or if you prefer entering the sea from the beach.
  Catching the bus from Icod (10 minutes car ride from the finca) is a good start point to explore the island. You can easily reach the north western tip of the island- Punta Teno- which is for us still a personal highlight. Simply the way there in the bus (the road is closed to cars) is breathtakingly beautiful. When the road winds its way up into the mountains along the coast, you can see even better how the wild Atlantic has shaped the lava landscape here and how far the banana plantations stretch. You’ll be rewarded with crystal clear waters, much fish and a sheltered bay. A must for you if you like snorkeling.
  
  NORD TENERIFFA
  Die Gegend hier ist besonders für Naturliebhaber attraktiv, die sich gern an der frischen Luft bewegen. Einige Fahrminuten bergauf kannst du den kanarischen Kiefernwald mit Meerblick genießen. Bergab bist du in 15 Minuten Fahrt am nächstgelegenen Strand Playa San Marcos. An diesem schwarzsandigen Naturstrand kannst du schwimmen und schnorcheln, in der Sonne liegen, Yoga-Unterricht mitmachen oder an der Küste entlang spazieren. Je nach Wellengang kann man dort auch ganz gut Stand Up Paddling ausprobieren. Von Icod fahren Busse nach San Marcos- oder du hast Lust auf einen 3 km Spaziergang durch Bananenplantagen und schöne Natur.
  Wanderwege gibt es auch zahllose in der Nähe. Mit dem Bus bist du schnell in Garachico- das ist immer einen Ausflug wert. Das Städtchen gehört zu den 10 schönsten Spaniens und bietet neben einer schnuckeligen Altstadt auch verschiedene Bademöglichkeiten- von felsigen Naturpools bis Strand ist alles dabei.
  Von Icod (10 Minuten per Auto) aus den Bus zu nehmen ist ein guter Startpunkt für deine Inselerkundungen. Du kannst von dort aus auch leicht den nördwestlichsten Zipfel der Insel erreichen- Punta Teno- was fuer immer ein persönliches Highlight ist. Schon allein der Weg dorthin an der Steilküste entlang ist wirklich atemberaubend schön. Die Straße schraubt sich entlang der Küste nach oben und man hat eine gute Sicht auf die von Lawa und Atlantik geformte Landschaft. Die Bananenplantagen erstrecken sich über die isla baja. Bei Ankunft wirst Du mit kristallklarem Wasser mit vielen Fischen in einer geschützten Bucht belohnt. Ein absolutes Muss für Schnorchelfans.
  
  Neben den "normalen" Aufgaben haben wir für diesen Sommer die Premiere eines besonderen Events geplant: ein christliches Sommercamp.
  Dafür suchen wir aktuell noch Begleitpersonen- das ist allerdings UNABHÄNGIG von unserem sonstigen Workaway-Gesuch.
  
  Besides our "normal" activities we a have new special event planned for this summer: a Christian summer camp for which we are looking for guides. If you are a christian and speak Spanish with fluency drop us a line. This event is independet from the help we are looking for in our every day routine.

  Si tienes disponibilidad de tres semanas en verano ( día 29 de junio hasta el día 17 julio 2026) y deseas acompañar a niños entre 6 y 12 años, ¡nos encantaría saber de ti!
  
  Buscamos 2 personas (preferiblemente una pareja) que, idealmente, ya tengan experiencia en el trabajo con niños y puedan llevar a cabo el campamento de verano, habla española.
  
  Las actividades incluyen:

  Juegos y dinámicas al aire libre

  We look forward to hosting persons who want to be part of our family and are eager to support us on the finca and with the chores. If you like kids, you’re also welcome to spend some time with our daughters- but that’s clearly not the focus.
  After almost 10 years on the island we are very happy to share our experiences regarding a healthy lifestyle, needs-based education (attachment parenting), plant-based diet, faith or music (we have a stage piano, guitar, flutes, ukulele, we sing). With our kids we are currently rediscovering various handicrafts, gardening and of course there is always a lot of painting, sewing, knitting, kneading and crafts.
  We are Christians and live our lives in accordance with the bible. You’re invited to participate in our sermons which we hold on Sabbath or in our weekly singing circles.
  We speak fluent English and Spanish - German is our mother tongue, in which we mainly communicate with our children. But they both understand and speak Spanish.
  
  Wir freuen uns auf Menschen, die Teil unserer Familie sein möchten und uns im Umfang von ca. 20 Stunden pro Woche auf der Finca und mit dem Haushalt unterstützen. Wenn ihr Lust habt und gut miteinander harmoniert, könnt ihr auch Zeit mit unseren Töchtern verbringen, aber das ist nicht unser Fokus. Nach nunmehr fast 10 Jahren auf Teneriffa teilen wir sehr gern unsere Erfahrungen bezüglich gesunder Lebensweise, bedürfnisorientierter Erziehung, pflanzlicher Ernährung, Glaube oder Musik (wir haben ein Stage Piano, Gitarre, Ukulele, Flöten, wir singen). Mit unseren Kindern entdecken wir gerade verschiedene Handarbeiten wieder und natürlich wird auch immer viel gemalt, genäht, gegärtnert, gebastelt, gestrickt, geknetet und gewerkelt.
  Wir sind gläubige Christen und gestalten unser Leben im Einklang mit der Bibel. Du bist eingeladen, an unseren Hausgottesdiensten am Sabbat oder unserem Singkreis teilzunehmen.
  Wir sprechen fließend Englisch und Spanisch- Deutsch ist unsere Muttersprache, in der wir auch vornehmlich mit den Kindern kommunizieren. Die beiden verstehen und sprechen aber auch Spanisch.

  Finca life in the northwest of Tenerife
  
  Above Icod de los Vinos we are looking for open-minded, loving and conscious people who are motivated to help us approximately 20 hours weekly with our finca and household (chores, tidying up, cleaning, (cooking- if you like and feel comfortable doing so)). If you wish and get along well, you can also spend time with our daughters (they speak German and Spanish). As for the help required it would be of enormous help to have someone flexible around, someone who is hands on and just sees where help is needed. As for the chores, we mainly need support after the meals to tidy and clean the kitchen area, especially after dinner because this is the time when we start our evening routine with the girls. Sweeping the kitchen floor is always needed.
  We appreciate someone who helps us clean the "public" bathroom once a week before our weekly events.
  
  We offer you participation in our entertaining finca and family life, your private apartment and mostly vegan (but we do eat eggs of our chickens) and partly organic full board.
  
  You can learn many interesting things about alternative lifestyles and diets to be and stay healthy in a natural way.

  Wir suchen in den Bergen über Icod de los Vinos (Llanito Perera) eine offene, bewusste, liebevolle Menschen, die motiviert sind, uns auf unserer Finca und im Haushalt (aufräumen, saubermachen (kochen, wenn du möchtest und kannst)) zu helfen- auf Wunsch könnt ihr auch Zeit mit unseren Kindern verbringen. (Sie sprechen Deutsch und Spanisch). Was die Mithilfe betrifft, freuen wir uns über flexible Mitdenker, die anpacken, wo es gerade nötig ist. Im Haushalt wünschen wir uns Hilfe nach den Mahlzeiten, wenn es darum geht, Tisch und Küche wieder in Ordnung zu bringen, insbesondere nach dem Abendessen, da wir danach unsere Abendroutine mit den Mädchen starten. Den Küchenboden zu kehren, geht auch immer.
  Einmal in der Woche freuen wir uns über geputzte Bäder vor den öffentlichen Veranstaltungen.
  
  Wir bieten dir Teilhabe an unserem unterhaltsamen Finca- und Familienleben, eine gemütliche Unterkunft in eigenem Apartment, weitgehend vegane (wir essen die Eier von unseren Hühnern) und -wo möglich- Bio-Vollverpflegung.
  
  Du kannst bei uns viele interessante Dinge bezüglich alternativer Lebensweisen und Ernährung erfahren, um auf natürliche Weise gesund zu sein und zu bleiben.
