It has been a beautiful experience experience hosting Kryštof! He has been mostly helping us with two dry stone walling projects - apart from some little daily routines around the house - and he has done an amazing job! He has a great feel for construction and manual activities, learns really fast, is proactive and very handy in general. Furthermore he came up with very useful suggestions and he works wonderfully in a team as well as individually :) Above all, Kryštof is a very friendly and gentle person, a pleasure to have around and share conversations with! We experienced a special connection with him and would recommend him 200 % to any future host.. Thanks for everything Kryštof and we wish you all the best on you further (life) journey!

We enjoyed our time with Paul and Barb (and the nine chooks). We shared their sense of humour and multiple interests and we matched them on story telling. We pretty much got through their wish-list of jobs plus a few extras that will make life easier for them. Beautiful location, great kayaking and walking. A fun and eventful couple of weeks!

I stayed with this beautiful family for only one and a half weeks, but I’m grateful for the experience. It was special to spend time with a Brazilian family, learning about their lifestyle and their perspective on life. Everyone has such a big heart. My main responsibilities were walking the dogs in the mornings and evenings. I also helped a little with the lovely baby Verena and kept the house organized. Because of this, I had quite a lot of free time. The house is located not too far from the center of Caieiras, a charming little city just outside of São Paulo. The city center has everything you need, although the neighborhood near the house mainly consists of residential buildings. However, it’s easy to get to the center by bus. During my short stay, they organized activities and really made me feel included. I appreciated that a lot, since there weren’t many things for me to do on my own nearby. I met more of their incredibly kind family members, we went for a nice walk together, and tried traditional Brazilian pastéis. I also enjoyed meeting their friends and visiting the schools where they both work. They even arranged for me to give a presentation about Finland to the students, moments I will remember. I was happy to practice my Portuguese, and everyone was very patient with me. Anselmo also speaks English, so it was a language exchange experience as well. Fiquem bem :)

I spend 3 Weeks at amys place and had a great Time. The property is right at the beach with a beautiful view. The water is also beautiful and full with fish. Amy has good snorkeling gear which she let me use to explore the reef. I also ate at least one fresh coconut every day😋 My room was great and the kitchen has anything you need. Amy was very kind and welcoming and shared not only her house an her food but also her great Knowledge with me. She is a very open and energetic Person with her own funny kind of humor. The work was mainly outside gardening and some repair tasks. I could set my own scedule which was very nice. Amy also has to lovley dogs who will give you company while working. The place is pretty far out but there are two hostels nearby if you feel the need to socialise a bit. Thank you Amy, for the great time and all the cool activities!🙏🙏 Saludos Luis

Emma and I had a wonderful stay at Liz and Craig’s. They were both so welcoming and the flat was lovely and spacious. Great to have our own space and independence. Our tasks were relaxing and rewarding, including stringing up tomato plants, cleaning the greenhouse, planting, and helping a little in the pottery studio. They also taught us how to use the wheel and we got to practice some throwing and glazing! It was a great insight into a creative business - they are both talented individuals who care deeply for their craft. Rai valley is a great base to explore the Marlborough sounds and Pelorus area by car. There are also some really pretty swim spots within walking distance of the flat. Thanks very much for having us, and for your kindness and hospitality Liz and Craig! All the best :)

Achil

It was a great experience to have Anabel at our home. She became like one of the family in every sense of the word. The dogs loved her, the neighbours and everyone she met loved her. She was great at offering to do things around the house. She was proactive with things. Her help was most appreciated during the hurricanes we experienced while she was here. Her quick thinking helped us feel safe. I would love her to come back anytime she is able to. She is welcome! Thank you so very much Anabel. Your unique way of doing things and saying " no problem" I still hear in my ears when encountering any challenges. You are a true ambassador to the Workaway program with a warm bright smile and great interpersonal skills.

I spent almost two weeks with Felix and his lovely mother Carmen. During the day, I worked at the school for about five hours, cleaning and repairing school furniture, which was relaxed and easy work. In the evenings, I cooked for us, often improvising, because it was sometimes challenging to get the ingredients… Both immediately welcomed me as part of the family, and it was a nice experience. Felix gave me lots of tips for activities and travel routes and took me to the carnival. Caraz is a relaxed, quiet place, I really enjoyed it.

Spent a great week with Eber and his son Kevin on the farm overlooking Petito. Very serene, peaceful, quiet space, surrounded by nature, lots to do around the farm, got to clean up a bunch of weeds, some bamboo that was laying around, we fertilize some plants, I helped with some of his English classes as I have a TESL certificate, varied tasks, always interesting. Food was great, learned how to prepare some other things, we got to use the woodstove one day as well, always an adventure. Would definitely go back if and when I visit Columbia again, good vibe, great host, great experience.

Staying at Jo and Dean’s place through Workaway was honestly such an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like part of the family rather than just volunteers. The atmosphere in their home was welcoming, relaxed, and full of kindness. The work was very fair and super flexible around our schedule. As long as we got the work done properly, they were really understanding and easygoing about timing, which made everything feel balanced and stress-free. We shared great conversations, laughs, and felt genuinely cared for during our stay. I’m so grateful for the experience and would absolutely recommend staying with Jo and Dean to anyone considering a Workaway with them. It truly felt like a home away from home.

Lea and me were the first volunteers at semilla celestial and it was an awesome adventure! Jhon and Máximo are both very open, welcoming and hearty people, so we always felt comfortable. The place is very remote in the cloud forest up in the mountains, we recommend rubberboots ;) the infrastructure is basic but works well. In our working hours we mostly build things and always felt appreciated with our ideas and results. Semilla celestial is a great place to connect with people and nature. We are very grateful to have been invited and can recommend it, to all adventurers!

Mary was an absolute gift. From the moment she arrived, she jumped in with both feet and such a genuine heart. For a little over two weeks, she cared for the dogs with so much love and consistency — walking them twice a day, cleaning up all the little doggie messes without hesitation, and giving each pup the attention they deserve. The dogs truly adored her, and I could see how safe and cared for they felt in her presence. During her stay, I was dealing with significant pain in my hands, and Mary stepped up in ways I will never forget. She helped me navigate what was honestly a very overwhelming and chaotic time. Her calm spirit, problem-solving mindset, and willingness to help wherever needed made such a difference — not just practically, but emotionally too. Beyond the work, we formed a real connection. We spent evenings watching documentaries about causes we both care deeply about, having meaningful conversations, and sharing laughter. She brought warmth, intelligence, and compassion into my home and into this mission. I was truly sad to see her go. I wholeheartedly recommend Mary for any volunteer position. She is responsible, kind, adaptable, and deeply caring. Any organization or host would be incredibly lucky to have her. Thank you, Mary, for everything you gave while you were here. You made a lasting impact on us all!!!

Dear Carolyn this feedback is extremely late but thank you for all your wonderful help. Carolyn stayed with me for two weeks and was a pleasure to host. She was super hard working, clever, efficient and very responsible. She went above and beyond to help finish gardening tasks and help with weeding during very hot summer days. She made the most of sightseeing the local area and very much appreciated all the beautiful trees and thank you for identifying my Golden Beech tree. I highly recommend Carolyn to other hosts. You will be glad you took her on. You are welcome back anytime and thank you for the lovely chit chats. I wish you all the very best with your travels around the world. Thank you Vita xx

I spent 3 weeks at the mobile library in January 2026 living with JJ and his family, fully immersed in their day-to-day life while working on many aspects of the non-profit. My work was specifically focused with building out the business operations and setting up systems to allow the non-profit to scale and expand their operations and impact long-term. This included business skills, financial budgeting training, social media, fundraising, IT, and strategy for all of their active and future envisioned projects. This place is doing truly impactful work in rural communities around Antananarivo, including literacy and education (mobile library), food aid and sovereignty (mushroom cultivation, food forest), youth empowerment by setting up a football team for young men as an alternative to alcohol/substances, as well new initiatives starting this year like sustainable tourism and women's health/empowerment. During my time there, I integrated into daily Malagasy life and really saw the challenges faced by Malagasy people - from poverty to illiteracy/poor education system. Their home is located in a suburb of Antananarivo called Ivato where you can take walks to a nearby lake, rice paddy, or take a mini-bus to the market and main town area with shops. JJ, Ravo, Hery, Sariaka, Mirana and the kids welcomed me with open arms and I will forever feel a part of their family. Thank you for the warm hospitality!

We stayed with Anne and Robert for only two days, but we truly appreciated spending time with them and helping out in such a beautiful place. Anne had already helped us with different things even before we met, while we were working on a farm nearby. We were even able to leave some of our belongings there so we could go hiking lighter. The caravan we slept in was great, with a beautiful view over the valley. Swimming in the river and picking cherries were unforgettable moments. We even got to taste the cherry juice when we saw Robert again at the Salamanca Market the following week! We highly recommend spending time with Anne and Robert. They are wonderful, very welcoming, and full of exciting projects 😊

Positive Turkish workawayer “Merhaba” hello in her language. I really appreciate that you adjusted here Ozge or Rather say Rosita, nicknamed while she was here. a lovely, open-minded person. She was fantastic with weeding the garden by herself almost completely finished and happily helping me to take the dogs for a walk. She was a great addition to the daily life in here. The help was challenging for her but rewarding her performance; that counts a lot at the end endeed¡ I learned so much from her cultural background. Her critical thinking about world affairs during our conversation and proactive approach to them reflects your leadership potential. I highly recomend any body this happy person. Gracias Ozge or Rosita on behalf of Hachiko, Pampita, Winston and Minina and myself.

Yahel and May have stayed with us for two weeks and have been delightful and interesting visitors to our home. Both are curious and wanting to learn about everything and especially to do things well. They are quick to learn new skills and go about their work with diligence and effort to create a good result. When they arrived, we had a lot of clean up and clearing of our gardens and paddocks to do after being away for several months. Together they have cut back foliage, weeded gardens, raked and pruned to transform large areas around our property. This is wonderful help for us as we are getting older and finding it hard to manage on our own. Yahel learnt to use the hedge trimmer and the whipper snipper and spent hours clearing long grass in difficult to reach places. May moved to cleaning windows and helping me with some housework which has made such a positive difference. We would highly recommend May and Yahel to other workaway hosts and wish them well in their travels

Megan was a pleasure to host. She worked very well and was a great help in the garden, around the house and with the animals. She had a wonderfully positive attitude which made living together a breeze. I also appreciated her sincerity, open mind and curiosity about life. I can wholeheartedly recommend her.
