WHO IS THIS FOR?
This is not for everyone. If you need neighbours, nightlife, or a busy town within walking distance, this is not your place. But if you dream of waking up to a sunrise over forested Tuscan hills, falling asleep under a sky full of stars, and living with a sense of wild freedom that most people only read about, read on.
THE PLACE
Four traditional stone villas on a hilltop in the heart of the Maremma, Southern Tuscany. Surrounded by forest, wildlife and absolute silence. The nearest neighbours are far enough away that you can be as loud as you like. You will have an entire house to yourself with panoramic views.
The surrounding forest is home to wild boar and deer, which you may spot on walks in the area. Yet you are not cut off from the world: a small village shop is 15 minutes away by car, restaurants and cafes 15 minutes, larger supermarkets around 30 minutes. And for bigger adventures, Siena is just an hour away, the sparkling Mediterranean Sea 40 minutes, and the area is dotted with picturesque Tuscan and Etruscan villages waiting to be explored.
Starlink internet is available for those who work online.
Note: the last 3km of the access road are unpaved. A vehicle is essential.
THE Help
Around 3 hours per day. Gardening, grass trimming, pruning, light cleaning and occasional small repairs or painting. The rest of the day is entirely yours. I am not on site, but I stay in close contact and appreciate regular updates with photos.
WHO I AM LOOKING FOR
I have three houses available, which means I can welcome up to 6 people at once, ideally couples, pairs of friends, or a small group who want to share this experience together. Each house accommodates 2 people comfortably.
Whatever your setup, you should be:
Practical and not afraid to get your hands dirty
Tidy and take pride in keeping things in good order
Self-reliant and comfortable with solitude and independence
Proactive, you notice what needs doing without being asked
At ease in nature, including wildlife like snakes and insects
Able to communicate regularly and honestly
Ideally with some Italian
Dog owners are very welcome, as long as your dog does not hunt. The surrounding forest is home to wild boar and a hunting dog could put itself in serious danger.
This works best for someone who sees living in a place like this as a privilege, not a compromise.

Nestled in the heart of Maremma, Tuscany, my property boasts a prime hilltop location surrounded by enchanting forests, offering absolute tranquility and peace. It's a serene haven, yet conveniently close to vibrant tourist destinations: just an hour's drive from the historic city of Siena, 40 minutes from the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, and surrounded by a plethora of picturesque Tuscan Etruscan villages, making it a perfect blend of secluded charm and accessibility to rich cultural experiences.
In the surrounding area, English is not necessarily always spoken if travellers want a fuller immersion into the Italian language.

I'm seeking a resourceful person, ideally a couple, for a long-term house sitting opportunity in picturesque Tuscany: Enjoy living in a stunning 4-house property while tending to our beautiful, extensive greenery.
Your role will encompass various landscaping tasks, such as trimming the grass, pruning bushes, and general upkeep of the garden as well as light maintenance tasks, such as painting and minor repairs, ensuring my beautiful Tuscan property remains in pristine condition.
Please note: I can't assist with workawayers seeking Italian citizenship/residence

Accommodation
You will have an entire Tuscan style house for you, it has 1-2 bedrooms and is perfectly suited for 1 or 2 people. This delightful residence has a private ensuite bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen, ensuring all the conveniences of home. Step outside onto your private terrace and be mesmerized by the breathtaking views of the rolling Tuscan hills. Here, tranquility and beauty merge, offering an idyllic escape.
We are very mindful about water consumption and expect the same from our workawayers.
We don't provide food, but 3h/day work, 5 days/week is fine for us.

What else ...
Effective communication is key in this role, requiring proactive exchanges, including detailed updates and photo sharing to ensure smooth task completion and transition between guests.
Currently, the role is predominantly independent, though I may visit briefly.
This position does NOT involve pet care.
I will maintain regular contact for task supervision, and local contacts are available for additional support if needed.
The ideal house sitters should be self-reliant, mature, and responsible, with a keen ability to identify and communicate any necessary repairs promptly.
This opportunity is perfect for a couple seeking an autonomous lifestyle with flexible hours, allowing time for personal online work or projects.
Due to the property's remote location, having your own vehicle is essential for transportation and access.
