Description
I'm Julie, I run a New Orleans originated non-profit working at Lake Atitlan specifically the small towns around lake Atitlan. . It is our program that provides sterilization clinics here at the lake to cut down on the street dog population. Currently I am running one clinic a month. The volunteers here at the time of the clinic would help promote the clinics and be there the day of the clinic to lend a hand where needed. No animal medical experience is necessary as everyone will be trained to know how to work together for the clinic to ultimately run successfully.
As to the day to day here my volunteers walk the two street dogs I’ve rescued twice a day, tend to the plants, do some light shopping and light cleaning. Other small things do pop up but mostly it’s very simple to volunteer here.
I am very interested in bettering my Spanish speaking skills and would love having volunteers that could maybe work with me an hour a day or so.
While this is a housing opportunity and meals are not included, I do enjoy cooking and making meals for volunteers and on those days that I make meals, the volunteers usually assist with the clean up.Types of help and learning opportunities

The lake offers amazing opportunities to experience the local culture. There's a large indigenous population here so it's an interesting place to experience modern Mayan life.

It is very important to continue the sterilization clinics here in Guatemala that I learn Spanish. It would be lovely to have someone both proficient in English and Spanish that could spend an hour a day while volunteering here to help with that.Accommodation
Full kitchen with a full size fridge, stove top and convection oven. Full size bed and sectional sofa, tv with streaming apps, full shower with hot water and two amazing young dogs, Lucy and Roux.
