Zora stayed a week and helped a lot. We had very clear and easy communication and she was impeccable, adaptable and creative in every task. She was generous in sharing and I learned a lot about the history, culture and politics of Slovakia. Obviously in less than a week we only scratched the surface, and you are always welcome back, I'd like you to experience the place in a warmer season too.

Manek arrived the same day as a German couple and the three of them made a great team. Most of the work was to fix up my pergola which had fallen down. Manek worked really hard with the others and they did a great job for me. they also cleared lots of overgrown parts of my garden, trimmed trees, bushes etc and generally cleared up. I provide food, but dont cook, but was very lucky because the team cooked every night and shared dinner with me. Manek is a really good cook, enjoyed cooking for us and I very definitely enjoyed eating his dinners! We had some great conversations using his (to begin with) limited English and my VERY limited French and we had lots of laughs. Manek's English improved heaps in the couple of weeks he was here. I would definitely recommend him as a Workawayer and especially if you would like someone to cook as well as the usual tasks. I wish him well in his travels and would gladly host him again any time.

I contacted Trevor and invited him to come and help with teaching. He was very willing and open to supporting the activities. He showed enthusiasm and a positive attitude from the beginning. He was responsible, patient, and kind with the students. I truly appreciate his contribution and the positive energy he brought to our place. We were lucky that Faya found us. Unfortunately, she could only stay for a short time, but she was incredibly helpful. We absolutely loved her! She was a perfect fit for us, especially because we share the same silly sense of humour. She always tried her best! 😄 Hartelijk dank❣️ She was a very pleasant guest, as she treated our home with great respect. The kids liked her a lot too. Thanks for the Stroopwafels in their beautiful tin! 😻 Faya helped with cleaning after the renovation and unpacking some moving boxes. She works quickly and thoroughly, leaving the room sparkling clean. She also helped with carrying fire wood and hay. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time left to visit all the beaches, and we were snowed in. Furthermore we would have loved to play card and board games, so I guess you just have to come back another time! 😉

Lele and Mattes spent a couple of weeks with me - I really enjoyed their company and appreciated their work.. I had another Workawayer stay at the same time and all 3 got on really well together and worked as a great team. Most of the work I needed done was to stabilise my pergola which had collapsed and they used initiative (and enthusiasm) to do that and really helped me out. They also did lots of clearing of weeds, trimming bushes, creepers etc and took green waste to the tip for me using my car and trailer. I usually provide the food but dont cook, but they cooked and shared dinner with me every night, and it was delicious😊 They are self starters and always asked if I was happy and if they had done enough. The answer was always yes😁 I thoroughly enjoyed our evenings chatting about all sorts of interesting topics. I highly recommend Lele and Mattes as really excellent Workawayers and would have them back in my home any time.

Jane è stata la mia prima esperienza come Workaway e non avrei potuto chiedere di meglio. È una donna fantastica, sembra che abbia vissuto cinque vite per quante storie ed esperienze ha da raccontare. È molto gentile e attenta, si preoccupa sempre che tutto sia a posto e che tu ti senta a tuo agio. I lavori che abbiamo fatto insieme erano semplici e piacevoli: abbiamo ridipinto il suo laboratorio di ceramica e tagliato la legna, sempre in un clima sereno e collaborativo. È anche un’ottima cuoca, sa preparare tantissimi piatti di culture diverse, ed è stato bellissimo condividere i pasti insieme. Inoltre mi ha aiutata molto con l’inglese, incoraggiandomi a parlare e a migliorare ogni giorno. È stata un’esperienza che consiglio davvero a tutti.🙂

We spent a week at Pars Lodge taking part in farming avtivities. Par is an excellent Cook and we enjoyed the little house we lived in. Par is a wise man with a lot of interesting stories and knowledge of plants and local culture. We would love to come back!

Jonathan stayed with us for one month and played a key role in supporting the renovation of our two apartments. His contribution was truly outstanding. He demonstrated strong leadership from the very beginning. He not only completed tasks efficiently himself, but also coordinated and guided other helpers with clarity and confidence. He was able to plan work structure, propose high-value improvements, and execute with excellent quality. Jonathan is hardworking, reliable, and solution-oriented. Whenever unexpected issues arose, he handled them calmly and effectively. He consistently completed tasks ahead of the timeline I had allocated, while maintaining high standards. Communication throughout the month was fast, clear, and highly professional. Beyond renovation work, he also contributed meaningfully to our language exchange activities, creating engaging and thoughtful sessions. He integrated very well with the team and built positive relationships with everyone. I genuinely felt that he invested 200% of his effort into this project, and the results clearly showed it. We are deeply grateful for his help. Jonathan particularly thrives in hands-on, on-site, and leadership-driven environments where practical execution and problem-solving are central. In these contexts, he is exceptionally strong. Any host who has the opportunity to work with Jonathan is truly fortunate.

Hola! Pasé 3 semanas maravillosas en la finca de Angela. Hay muchas actividades variadas tanto en la finca como en la comunidad del pueblo. Aquí hablamos 100% español. Angela necesita ayuda para su proyecto de cabañas, así que si tienes habilidades o quieres colaborar, eres más que bienvenido/a. Angela es una mujer abierta, luminosa y muy implicada en la comunidad de su pueblo, y sus animales son adorables. La finca está situada en un lugar muy bonito en el valle de Pijao, rodeado de una naturaleza espectacular. Muchas gracias, Angela. Espero volver pronto.

I stayed two weeks in Birgits and Agis' wonderful little paradise. We had a lot of fun together, I got the opportunity to be part of different cultural events in the beautiful region of Armenoi. I am deeply thankful for this amazing experience: for the delicious food, the fresh fruits and juice, the interesting talks, the senseful work, the cat cuddles and the readiness of Birgit and Agis to help me with anything. It was a true family-sharing experience at Riffaz house, I immediately felt part of the family and people in the district were all very friendly! The beach is at a 5min walking distance and despite the rainy days, I had fun walking around & playing Carrom and Uno with the kids! I have the head full of amazing memories!

Hi, I had the most amazing 3 weeks of my trip to SriLanka at this place. My time was shared between funny teachings & games, swimming at the river, having fun with the kids and sharing family's daily life. Thank you Janaka, Deep, Pramu & family around!! It was an amazing & fun experience: I was also invited to a wedding, rode my bicycle everywhere and ate plenty of sweet foods!! Recommended!!!

Abigail and Cedric are the ideal hosts: caring, compassionate, curious and welcoming, whilst also respecting one's space and independence. Their piece of land in Provence is absolutely stunning, and I had to pinch myself to check I wasn't dreaming when I would wake up and marvel at the view every morning. I stayed here 10 days during fig harvesting season (September). The work was enjoyable and gratifying (not to mention the figs which were delicious!). I could go on about the food, the natural setting, the abundance of activities to do during time off (cycling, local markets, beach, mountain hikes, etc), but the most special part of this stay was the beautiful community we encountered. Within a few days we had made connections and forged lasting friendships. Merci Abi et Ced pour ce superbe sejour!

Sara & Antoine stayed at my place for a week and a half. From the very start, they were super friendly, really helpful and a joy to have around the house. I was very impressed with their sense of initiative, they helped me with so many jobs around the house and finished jobs quickly and with high quality. They are also great cooks if you feel like some French crepes :) I can highly recommend Sara & Antoine!

I had the most fun experience in the hostel! It was my first workaway and I had a great time. I met a lot of interesting people and had a lot of fun with the activities we did at the hostel. Definitely going back if I ever decide to go back to Sri Lanka.

I spent about 3 weeks in December in Ojika island, it was the best possible start of my journey into Japanese culture and cat world!^.^ I’m an animal lover and I have experience handling dogs but didn’t know much about cats so I was a little bit anxious about it. But I met the most friendly rescued cats at Hiroko-San’s shelter and that says a lot about her love for them and the amazing work she has been doing along with the volunteers, both workaway and locals. Despite most cats being super friendly and interact with humans, a few of them are shy and won’t trust you right away, just give them time. Don’t forget about the shy cats when everyone else is playing, you will find ways to make them curious you just need to be patient and keep trying. In the end they all have different personalities, you just have to be observant and adapt each one of them. I can’t thank you enough for this opportunity Hiroko-San, I will always love your cats and I miss them every day. They became part of my life and they are in my heart. When you are not volunteering you will be making human friends around the island, yes friends. Even if you don’t speak Japanese you will find ways to communicate. Not many speak english but that won’t stop you from meeting people and getting to know them as you will meet the most kind, generous and lovely people. I spent very little time alone, Hiroko-San and everyone else around made sure I was part of their community and indeed I was. 3 weeks felt like a lifetime and I think I’m still dreaming of Ojika…. ありがとうございましたHiroko-San, Tsuki-Chan, Nobuko-San, Jesse-Chan, Sayaka-San, Ryoko-San, Akko-San, Makko-San, Mami-San, Kou-San, Kohei-Chan, Sanae-San….またね! 猫の日おめでとう!

Isabell hat uns 2 Wochen lang bei der Bewältigung des Dschungels in unserem Garten geholfen - bei jedem Wetter!! ! Sie ist mit ihrer landwirtschaftlichen Ausbildung im Background ein großer Gewinn für jeden Garten - oder Landbesitzer, sowohl mit ihrer großen Zuverlässigkeit, Ausdauer und Eigenverantwortlichkeit als auch mit ihrer zugewandten , lustigen und kommunikativen Art. Wir hatten sehr viel Spaß zusammen! Ich empfehle sie wärmstens weiter. Und gerne ein anderes Mal wieder hier, Liebe Isa! Gute Reise, Birgit

Rita is an excellent host. She's welcoming, funny, understanding, full of knowledge and an amazing storyteller. You can literally talk about anything with her. She has lots of ideas, is a big thinker and therefore very inspiring. Her therapeutic gardens are sth I've never seen or heard before, a true gem and I really enjoyed working there. We did lots of weeding, planted some trees and other plants, tried to fight the bamboo which was everywhere and then built terraces out of it. Truly the best thing in this workaway was meeting Isabel, an amaaaaazing woman, the nicest and most positive one I've met in my entire life. Together with Sjorscito we played cards in the evening or went climbing on weekends, which was always lots of fun. If you wanna practice your Spanish, this is the place to go, as we talked 95% of the time in Spanish. Todo en todo: bien plus!!! I can nothing but recommend staying with Rita, her 2 sweet dogs and her little parrot. Otra vez Rita: muchas muchas gracias para este tiempo maravilloso ✨ 🙏 Nos vemooooooos

Hugo and Zélie were a pleasure to host. They helped a great deal with stacking firewood and organizing different areas around the property, which made a real difference in my daily workload. Both of them were very kind, respectful, and easy to get along with. They worked with a great attitude and adapted easily to life here. It was truly enjoyable having them around. I’m very grateful for their help and would gladly recommend them to any host.

Nathalie, Paul, and Naim were wonderful to host. They originally planned a shorter stay but ended up staying almost two weeks, which I was very happy about. All three of them were incredibly kind, respectful, and very easy to live and work with. They helped me significantly with my new house, especially with the window frames, which made a real difference in my progress. Paul also gave me valuable help in the bathroom, and Naim was a great support with firewood. Beyond their work, they were simply very nice people to have around — helpful, flexible, and always bringing a positive, cooperative attitude. They adapted easily to life here and were a real pleasure to share the space with. I’m genuinely grateful for their help and would gladly recommend them to any host. I highly recommend hosting them wherever they continue their adventures.
