Description
My home is situated between Passikudah and Arugam Bay.
About Me:
I am from the east coast of Sri Lanka. I am a software engineer, web developer, technical support engineer, senior tech lead, and I manage a private limited company incorporated in the UK, Italy, and Romania.
Despite my deep involvement in IT and software, I am always dreaming of and thinking about traveling to new places and meeting new people. I have already visited several Asian countries. After these experiences, I decided to start a hostel and homestay for travelers in my beautiful village.
About Us:
I am married to a wonderful woman from my village who is an excellent cook and very welcoming. We have two adorable, clever, and energetic boys, aged 9 and 2, who always brighten up the places they explore. :)
My Home (Where You Will Be Staying):
My home is just 300 meters away from the beach. I am planning to start a hostel and homestay for travelers exploring the Sri Lankan east coast. My home is a 1680-square-foot, two-story building, and I plan to set up the hostel and homestay on the rooftop, making it a third story. I already have ideas for the rooms and facilities.
My village has a beautiful, clean beach, but swimming there is not recommended due to the rough and strong waves. On the other side of the village, there are paddy fields, although many homes were built on agricultural land after the tsunami.Types of help and learning opportunities

Maruthamunai is situated between Passikudah and Arugam Bay. Passikudah is just a one-and-a-half-hour drive away, and Arugam Bay is also a one-and-a-half-hour drive in the opposite direction.
My village is famous for its traditional handloom products, which are even featured in the Sri Lankan government school syllabus.
You will love the homemade spicy food made from cassava/tapioca. Maruthamunai is also known for its biriyani and beef meals. It's a small village where all the food is homemade with love.
You Will Get:
Sri Lankan milk or plain tea – Free/unlimited
Three meals a day – Free/unlimited
Accommodation – Free/unlimited
Wi-Fi – Free/unlimited
Fresh guava, papaya, and coconut if you see them in the trees on our land

Help
Help Needed:
You are not expected to do all of these tasks. Just let me know which ones you can help with.
1) Cultural Exchange and Ideas:
The main expectation is cultural exchange and sharing ideas for improving the place.
2) Painting the Walls:
We are in the process of renewing some rooms and could use help with painting.
3) Video Promotions:
I already have a YouTube channel and am planning to start another one. Creating and editing videos using Adobe After Effects takes a lot of time. I’d love to learn how travelers make their videos so quickly and make them look awesome.
4) Finding Sponsors/Brand Deals:
If you know how to research online and find sponsors or brand deals for the channel, your help would be invaluable.
5 Setting Up a Consistent Studio:
I’m looking for ideas on how to set up a consistent studio for video production.
6) Photography:
If you have a good eye for capturing the beauty of the surroundings, your skills are most welcome.
7) IT-Related Remote Job Ideas:
If you have knowledge of IT-related remote job opportunities, I would love to hear about them.
8) WordPress/Blog to App Conversion:
I need help converting a blog into a native app. The app should automatically display new posts and send push notifications when a new post is published.
9) Language Practice:
If you are fluent in English, please consider practicing with my three-year-old son and maybe even visiting one of my English classes. Native speakers are preferred.
10) Writing Articles:
I occasionally need articles in English and other foreign languages for various projects. If you have free time, I'd appreciate your help with writing them.
11) Drawing/Art on the Wall:
If you’re creative, we’d love for you to add some art to our front wall.
12) Cultural Exchange:
If you have a place in your village or country where I can rest/sleep when passing through, that would be greatly appreciated.
13) General House Help:
Since it’s a big home, cleaning every day is challenging. Please help tidy up the upstairs and bathroom when you have free time (mopping & cleaning).Languages

She is a restless hard worker.
I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for some house hold helps.
It was a really lovely experience to get to know their everyday life and dive into a different culture this way. The daily work was very doable (some cleaning, tidying, gardening) and the communication with Riffaz what was needed to be done was very easy. Also being part of a… read more
