I had a really good time in the Gasthaus zum Löwen in Aschau. The family is friendly and the work is good to handle.
I lived with other workawayers in a part of the hotel, with our own kitchen, toilet and bathroom.
I could talk about any upcoming problem with Jenny and she always tried to find a good solution.
Special thanks to Opa Hans for a really funny evening ;-).

Franco & Jhanis were such a lovely couple to have around. Easygoing, relaxed, kind and genuinely pleasant people to share daily life with.
They helped us tremendously with outdoor and nature work on the domaine and were always willing to jump in wherever help was needed. They are hard workers, proactive and reliable, while also bringing a very calm and positive energy to the place.
What we especially appreciated was the balance they naturally brought: enjoying moments together, sharing conversations and activities, but also being very independent and respectful of everyone’s space and rhythm.
They cooked for us one evening, which was absolutely amazing, and we really enjoyed learning more about their Chilean culture through food and conversations. They also live very clean and organized, both in the accommodation and in shared spaces, which made things very easy and comfortable.
Overall, they were a pleasure to host and we would absolutely recommend them to other hosts looking for trustworthy, warm and hands-on people with a great attitude.
Thank you both again and hopefully our paths cross again someday 🌿

Bec & Joel were such lovely people to have around and we really enjoyed our time together. 🌿
They are easygoing, warm, friendly and the kind of people who immediately bring a nice energy with them. Both were always happy to help and very easy to live and work with.
Joel’s passion for coffee was such a fun addition during their stay — we genuinely learned a lot from him and loved the little coffee moments together. ☕️
Bec has a great eye for styling and atmosphere, and she helped beautifully with decorating and creating a warm feeling around the domaine.
They were also amazing with the kids, loved cooking, and made us some really delicious meals during their stay. Most of all, we just really enjoyed spending time with them — lots of laughter, good conversations and a very similar mindset to our own.
We would absolutely welcome them back anytime and truly hope to see them again one day ❤️
Lots of love,
Milou & Eric

Anne-Beth and Leif were incredibly accommodating and gave me a warm welcome from the very beginning. Their historic house and surrounding garden are beautifully maintained, and that same care extends to the spacious room I stayed in, which included a large bed, a desk, and a radiator.
When it came to work, they offered a flexible “menu” of tasks to choose from, mainly involving gardening, painting, and housekeeping. I really appreciated the freedom to work at my own pace, which allowed me to make time for hikes on sunny days and trips into Oslo.
Even though this was my first experience as a Workawayer, Anne-Beth and Leif immediately made me feel like part of the family. They are genuinely sociable and clearly enjoy connecting with the people they host. They even went out of their way to pick up ingredients for meals I wanted to cook and helped me discover some great hiking trails nearby.
Overall, they put a lot of thought and effort into making my stay memorable, and they truly succeeded in every way

Saludos Thomi y Luci

The Peace Center is a great place! The staff is super nice, and the accommodation is really good.
In terms of the cultural exchange experience: this is really the way to do it if you want to say you have been to Colombia and that you really got to know many locals and learn about the country.
Popayán is a great city too for people who want and enjoy a more relaxed and walkable city but still with many great things to see and learn about!

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mikko and Johanna. I stayed at their house for three weeks, and every moment was special to me.
The main tasks were mostly related to forestry. I carried tree stems from the forest near the house and cut them into firewood-sized pieces to be used for heating the rooms. In addition, I planted seeds in the garden and created signboards to show directions to the guest house they run.
Workawayers are expected to work during the day, but even after work, Mikko always tried to entertain me by taking me to the lake for boating and fishing, watching various kinds of movies together, and enjoying the sauna attached to their house. His partner, Johanna, is full of kindness, and her humor and charm always made us smile. I also found her way of thinking about the environment and female empowerment very interesting and inspiring.
I stayed with their daughter for a few days as well. She is very intelligent and kindly shared a lot of interesting Finnish culture and stories about her background with me. She always listened carefully to what I tried to say, which mentally supported me a lot.
Staying with them made me realize how beautiful nature is and how enjoyable it is to live in harmony with it. I was given many unforgettable memories that will surely have a positive influence on my lifestyle in the future.
I highly recommend staying with them.

This was such an amazing experience! Leaving the Casita was very emotional since all the lovely memories gathered in that one month just kept coming back. It's such a beautiful place and it was easy to form meaningful connections with the children.

Oshra was hardworking, helpful, and very proactive during her stay with us. She communicated actively with both our team and our guests, including visitors with disabilities, showing kindness, patience, and a positive attitude. She clearly enjoyed being here and became a valued part of our daily activities. We would gladly welcome more volunteers with a similar attitude, skills, and willingness to help. We highly recommend her.

We loved having Maryanne stay with us! She was so wonderful with our kids (11 & 8) and they absolutely loved her. She helped with making meals, taking care of the kids, helping them with reading and homework, and cleaning the house. We were able to ask anything and she was always willing and eager to help out. It was also nice to have someone so interested in learning about our culture and to speak French. I’m sure in no time she’ll be fluent!
We highly recommend welcoming Maryanne into your house , you won’t regret it.

What a wonderful experience at the mill!
A peaceful environnement, an amazing team, lovely animals and a lot of free time to enjoy the surroundings.
It was really nice to get to know more about gardening, taking care of the animals and to learn about the history of this part of Germany.
So thankfull of Claudia, Sara, Torsten and all the mill team for their welcoming presence and their will to involve me in their daily lives. What a pleasure it was to learn more about scottish dance, chess, tango, board games and of course the KLP festival with them. I can’t wait to go back again one day!

Nicki and Richard were kind enough to take on me and my three friends for a week of inspirational learning. We got to stay in their beautiful cottage and it will always be a core memory I will back on in New Zealand. We got to plant trees, cook delicious food and learn lots about the local wildlife (including bees). I learnt a lot from Nicki and Richard and they were not shy to pass on all their great knowledge.

Blazej’s presence in the abbey was appreciated. He is a kind, flexible, and reliable person, always ready to help wherever needed. He adapted easily to different tasks and situations, which made working with him very smooth. He contributed in many areas, including the orchard, the kitchen, and various outdoor jobs, always with a positive attitude and a good work ethic. Blazej is also attentive and respectful, making him a pleasant person to live and work with in a community setting. On top of that, he has a great sense of humor, which brought a joyful and relaxed atmosphere to the team. It was a real pleasure to host him.

My stay with Agnette was an amazing experience. From my first contact with Agnette she was very accomodating and responsive to me. When I arrived for my stay with her she was very friendly and provided me a tour of her house and Stange as a whole. I learned so much about eating a vegetarian and raw food diet and was provided with delicious meals as proof of how good it is for you. During my stay I painted her home, did some landscaping in her garden and of course put on the suit for beekeeping! Agnette also brought me on several hikes and cold swims with other Norweigans providing a wonderful cultural exchange. Agnette was a wonderful host and provided a lifechanging experience. If you are not afraid to step outside of your comfort zone a little I would highly recommend this as a workaway.

All previous given feedbacks are true to word. Feel free to message us about Helen and her place, and who knows we might see you there when we visit Helen again!
Our two weeks during the Queen of Queens' holiday at her luxurious forest farm in the Vosges
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The work
During the weeks we build from wood gathered in the forest, sawed sharpened and burned wood to make pikes, cooked (Helene also cooks really well, with local products) and cleared her orchard from oak saplings. We also walked Avai in the forest and shared some afternoons with her and her cats as well. The first day was before the weekend so we decided we'd work a lot : taking care of the goats' shed and creating a potatoes field. We were shown the animals: the bees, goats, ducks, chickens and small quills, and even bonded with them (Marine sometimes still misses "baby quill"!).
And the away
* We did and recommend doing the 'La Haute Pierre' hiking path (followed by the 'Croix de Malfosse' route if you can walk for 2 hours or more) , as you will walk there on the edge of the mountain among large builders and woods all around. Surroundings which inspire an adventurous life
* The museum of Baccarat is a very inexpensive gem in an otherwise pretty normal town, with two beautiful churches.(( I now have an eye for crystal and already bought my own set at home)).
* The town of Raon l'Etape has a nice rustic charm with rivers and a local government revitalising it to former glory and beyond. Somehow there always was something close by in its area.
* We are thankful for the free Gaming Music orchestral performance we got,
* and enjoyed a breakfast in the retro futuristic bulb houses at L'Eau Vive (an architectural motel )
* We liked the vide grenier organised accross the street at the football fields
* and frequently visited the woods at her doorstep with Avai, to the Menhir and more..
*** * *** Helen is personally one of the best hosts we visited. 11/7!

I was there for two fascinating days. I felt useful, it was interesting and educational. Prit, the owner of the place, is an expert, I learned a lot from him. I participated in the activities of a nice group that came for activities in the forest, and also kayaking in a nearby freshwater park.
The volunteers' house is spacious and has everything you need, although it is a bit unventilated. The place is very isolated. So if you like company - bring it with you. And it is also really good to have some means of transportation.
I really enjoyed my time in the park. And I hope to go back there.
