We love Ian and Monica, they stayed with us for about three weeks, and it was truly a pleasure to host them. They are kind, respectful, and hands-on, able to work independently while always being thoughtful and considerate. They took good care of the space and brought a calm, positive presence that made daily life together easy and enjoyable. We’re very grateful for their time with us and would happily welcome them back anytime

Had a great time here. The location is amazing, so many things to do and see and the view from the house in incredible! The work can be quite challenging, sanding floors or scraping paint, but you can also do other things and the jobs are part of renovating a house sustainably. I learned a lot, thank you Gabi, about Chilean culture and FOOD!! Will always remember the food. Muchas gracias Gabi & Sofi!!

Caro came to our rescue as a last minute host and right from the start, we knew we had found a perfect host. Caro has a heart of gold, and is a super positive person who loves to create a welcoming environment where you can really work to your strengths. Her philosophy is to provide simple clean accomodation in exchange for 2 hrs simple work and very much relies on your honesty and integrity, there is no micro managing by Caro, she's too busy with work, and for us it worked so well, allowing us to pick jobs and just get on with them; yes we had to ask questions occasionally but Caro always made time to clarify things. Thank you Caro for allowing us to share your home and laughter, it made Rotorua a very memorable place - hopefully we will meet again at your new place (if you ever get to move 😉)

I had a lovely 3 weeks staying with Lydia and her friendly dogs. She is a very generous hostess. The room was very comfortable and the food amazing. The surroundings are beautiful with parks and the river nearby for nature walks. There was plenty of free time to go exploring with easy transport links to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Staying with Graham and Anna was such a pleasure. They are lovely hosts and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. Their home is beautiful and the accommodation I had was perfect. I would not have any hesitation in recommending for anyone to stay there. Your stay will be a wonderful experience.

Marta and Michael stayed with us for a little over a month, and they were an absolute joy to host. 💛 Extremely helpful, proactive, and genuinely caring — we were truly sad to see them go. They took great care with every task we asked of them, from feeding the animals to watering plants. Communication flowed easily and clearly the whole time, which made everything feel smooth and supportive. We can’t recommend them enough to other hosts. We (and the animals!) miss you already 🐾🌱

I stayed with Meli and her family for a few months and felt like part of the family. I learned so much, and Meli was incredibly supportive and helpful. She and her family went above and beyond to make every person feel welcomed and encouraged to explore and connect with the community. Everyone forms a unique bond with this place, and I think it’s true what they say: you won’t have another experience like this in your life. Highlights: *Sunset walks to the river, where you can casually chat with cows, spot toucans, and return to the finca with a warm fire and beautiful humans. *Eating delicious food grown right here, honing my baking skills(I helped😅), and learning patience while maintaining a healthy, fulfilling routine. *Falling in love with the most charming pet siblings: Sunny, Chibi, Vigo, and Bigotes who completely stole my heart. If you’re looking to contribute to a family surrounded by furry friends, positive vibrations, and creative energy, please inquire. This is a place of many wonderful “firsts.” Great people, loving animals, and a transformative experience. Thanks for all your hospitality!

I couldn’t have asked for a better first workaway experience than staying with this lovely, warm hearted family! It was a pleasure staying with Miriam, Lior and Tutu in their beautiful home in the best location you could imagine in Sydney (2 min walk to the iconic bondi beach!) and time flew by so fast and I stayed even longer in the end as Miriam helped me out when other plans changed spontaneously which I am so grateful for! It was a perfect mix of having time to explore Bondi and really soak up the lifestyle there and also be part of an authentic aussie daily life, they really made me feel like part of the family from the beginning on! Also, I felt like Miriam always valued and appreciated the work I did and she was really flexible with my schedule when I needed it (she usually sends a schedule for each week and then we see if any adjustments need to be made). The tasks were a good mix of babysitting and general household chores, I usually did the kids‘ morning routine, then some cleaning, laundry, mealprep and sometimes extra organizing tasks and sometimes babysitting in the evening or weekends. Lior and Tutu are truly one of the sweetest kids I‘ve ever met, also Lior is super smart and I enjoyed the many activities we did together (dancing, crochet, crafts, video filming, baking, origami, magic tricks, …) and I‘m going to miss reading books , going to the beach together, sharing our favourite moments of the day over dinner (including Miriam‘s delicious food and also appreciated a family that was ok with me being vegetarian as they mostly cook veggie as well), we even went to the cinema together and I got to see some of Miriam‘s concerts which was a lovely experience as she is an amazing musician! So I can only recommend this family and I‘m going to miss them so much!

Que lindo la experiencia! I stayed at Unicorn Reborn for two month and I really enjoyed my time there. I got part of the family and I loved being involved in the Unicorn Community. Its such a nice place with lovely people visiting, cute staff, a nice garden and lots of movement activities going on. Jonathan and Karla are sweethearts, they took lots of time to introduce me to my tasks so I could find my confidence to work independantly. Still they would have an overview and doublecheck so no major mistakes could happen. If there was any doubt they would always help me out! We all got friends fast, its a big team working together at the Unicorn! My main task was taking care of our guests, I d be communicating with them before and after arrival, doing Check-ins and Check-outs, making sure guests are happy and socialize, connect and enjoy San Marcos vibes together. Somehow it was like getting everyone in the same boat.. with vibes of bliss! Also I would act like a bridge between staff and guests, so its important to speak both english and spanish. It was a great experience being part of that lovely project and being abel to involve with my very own energy and ideas, too :) Will never forget this magical time.. Muchisimas gracias!

I want to say a big thank you to Heidi, Oshana, Thodar, and Oso for an unforgettable experience in beautiful Cocorná. The project of replacing the roof of the Tambo was a real challenge! It was physically demanding work, but it suited me perfectly, and the final result is definitely something to be proud of. It was also great to have some variety by helping Oshana with her English, which I really enjoyed. Heidi is a kind, warm, and supportive host, and everything is open for discussion, which made me feel very welcome and comfortable throughout my stay. I highly recommend this ecohotel to anyone who loves hiking, nature, and mountains, and who wants to contribute to preserving this beautiful paradise. And last but not least—Oso the dog completely stole my heart. I would have loved to take him home 😍 What an absolute sweetheart! Als je wilt, kan ik hem ook iets korter, formeler, of juist nog persoonlijker maken voor Workaway 🌿

Staying at the cat shelter was my first ever workaway experience, and it was literally everything I could have wished for. The managers but also all the other volunteers were very friendly and welcoming. All the people at the shelter truly care about the animals and do everything they can to make sure the cats and dogs are happy and healthy. The managers have a lot of knowledge regarding animal care. It’s also amazing to see how each individual animal is taken care of according to its physical and emotional needs. I still love watching all the animals’ positive development on the shelter’s social media accounts. There was quite a lot of work at times, but the shifts were very reasonable and always clearly communicated, which was great. It was also really rewarding work, because you can genuinely help the animals by making sure they have a clean, comfortable and fun living environment, enough food and water and can even help to promote them through social media so they can get adopted. I loved spending time with the animals in my free time, as they are all really sweet and even the more shy ones often open up after some time. It was also really nice to share the living space with the cats. Thanks a lot to the managers and the other volunteers for the wonderful experience! I would love to come back again sometime!

Staying with Bernward was wonderful! From the start we had a great connection and it felt so natural to be there. The property is like paradise; beautiful flowers, plants, yummy veggies and fruits, amazing animals everywhere and beautiful people to connect with. I found a deep soul connection to Bernward but also amazing friendships with the girls staying there and fell in love with Momo the cat, Bambi the goat and Houdini the Chicken ♥️ The food that Bernward cooks is always delicious and adapted to everyone’s individual diet and needs. Twice a week I got a deep relaxing massage and also twice a week we went to the Sauna where we always had meaningful and deep exchanges. Overall the experience was very healing. The people in Macclesfield are also very open and easy to connect with. 3 times a week there is live music in the local pub around the corner with amazing Bands and cool people! There is a big spiritual community in the hills with offers like Yoga, women’s circles, ecstatic dance and many more. Check out the farm for wellbeing and goddess Yoga! Bernward gave me the opportunity to also work part time at the beautiful Longview Vineyard to get some extra money, where I really loved to work as well, especially because the Team was truly amazing! My work on the farm included taking care of the animals, gardening, building bird houses, chopping wood, fixing the water system and some cleaning. And I always felt well looked after. To get some rest I always had my own room which is also a big luxury! All in all I can highly recommend staying there, it was truly wonderful to be part of the family and I will always feel connected ♥️ Thank you Bernward!

We had such an amazing time hosting Darby and Jesper and honestly couldn’t recommend them highly enough. From the moment they arrived, they were thoughtful, respectful of our space, and a genuine pleasure to have around. They are excellent workers with a real attention to detail, and everything they did was completed to a very high standard. Darby cleaned all the windows inside and out, and I swear they have never looked so shiny or sparkly — every time I look through them now, I think of her. Both of them showed great initiative, worked independently, and didn’t need any hand-holding, which we really appreciated. Beyond the work, what truly stood out was how much fun they were to have here. We laughed a lot, had great conversations, and genuinely enjoyed their company. In just a week, we built a lovely connection and friendship, which says a lot about the kind of people they are. Although they’re in their early twenties, they are emotionally mature, grounded, and easy to be around. Their age never felt like a limitation — quite the opposite. They brought freshness, warmth, and openness, while also being very self-sufficient and considerate. Unfortunately, they were only able to stay for a week as we had to travel, but we’re already looking forward to them coming back to visit — which probably says everything about how much we enjoyed having them here. Any host would be lucky to have Darby and Jesper. They’re a joy to be around, wonderful contributors, and people you genuinely miss once they leave.

We volunteered at this place for the month of November 2025 and had a truly phenomenal experience. The abundance of positive feedback shared here already is a testament to how wonderfully the Workaway program is run at the dive school, as well as how fantastic, welcoming and attentive every single staff member is at the centre. Our roles as volunteers were clearly outlined upon arrival and included checking guests in and out, setting up beds and making sure rooms were ready, maintaining a clean and tidy space, restocking waters/cleaning products and ensuring laundry was completed in a timely manner. In exchange, we were lucky enough to join numerous shore dives and INCREDIBLE boat dives. We also helped out during rescue courses which was a great experience. We stayed in one of the dorm rooms. The bed is nice and comfy, the bathrooms are clean, showers have good water pressure etc. There's a communal kitchen/hanging out space. Kitchen is well stocked with anything you might need for prepping food, and there's a couple of supermarkets within walking distance, as well as two gyms. There's also lots of cafes and restaurants really close by, and a great taco place just round the corner. On our days off we went over to the mainland to Playa del Carmen to dive in the cenotes which was incredible, but you could also just chill on the island and get bikes out etc. Getting to know the other divers that passed through the school and all of the instructors was a true highlight. Kaja and Ken have created a really special dive community in Cozumel and offer a once in a lifetime opportunity through Workaway that we would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat. Thank you all for an epic stay!! Can't wait to be back!

Stayed 2 months in fall 2025 and I enjoyed my time there, although I wish I had known a couple things beforehand. You'll love it if: -food matters. It is great, prepared professionally whenever the place hosts groups, plentiful, vegetarian, with lots of options, and all meals are covered. Also the kitchen is stocked with food and you can help yourself to it or cook if desired. When no groups are booked, lunch is prepared by one of us on workdays, and for other days/meal you are on your own (with access to supplies and kitchen, never a need to go grocery shopping, which was so relaxing!) - you're after silence, introspection, relaxing and nature. Social expectations should be minimum, as groups come and go and you are not a part of them ( no access to their activities), and local staff is on a 9 to 5 and then go home. There may or may not be other workawayers, but never more than one at a time in my case, which means you are often on your own. Nature is all around and there are bikes and kayaks you can use, with direct access to waterways, gorgeous and extensive bike paths, and a cute little forest with many trails, beautiful moss and a huge observation tower. Also great marshes to explore around, and lots of wildlife. Cities are 30 min away by bike/train. - mental charge matters. Here the work is simple, easy to complete, repetitive, very clearly defined, and also not too much. Markus (the general manager) is very organized, nice and easy to communicate with. He aims for a 5 hours/day workload but in my experience it was often less. Depending on the time of the year the work may vary, for me it was mostly dishwashing, cleaning, helping in the kitchen and some yardwork. - You speak German. I don't at all and it felt kind of isolating at times, especially during staff lunches (often the only moment of social interaction during work) where people mostly spoke German. - you value intimacy. You get your own room, accomodations are comfortable and clean. What I found most frustrating was to not be able to partake in all the cool group activities or use the practice rooms. I had access to a meditation room, but it was small (not adequate for my movement practices, or for multiple people) and also sometimes booked. Silence could also be a challenge over time, as many of the groups were silent retreats. It was my first workaway experience and a lovely place to spend fall and recharge before continuing my journey.
