Rotorua is a world-renowned tourist mecca - famous for Maori cultural experiences, geothermal attractions, spas, hot pools, nature & wildlife parks, biking, marathons & outdoor adventures. We love meeting people from all walks of life and seeing them recharge and relax or get out and about enjoying Rotorua in exchange for low-stress, easy tasks.

WHILE RENTALS IS NOT HAPPENING, WE HAVE A SMALL, SEPARATE, SELF-CONTAINED UNIT AVAILABLE FOR WORKAWAYERS - SELF-CATER / 3HRS PER PERSON PER NIGHT

Two options: 2 hours work per person per night, buy and prepare your own food or 5 hours, meals provided, set at 14 or 25 hours per week respectively.

Flexible start/finish times to have full days free to enjoy being a tourist. There is a long to-do list to restore the property to a pristine state - housekeeping, lawn mowing, weeding, cleaning, repairs and maintenance. Select tasks that suit the weather, your interests AND your abilities. Creative healthy food preppers are particularly welcome. Suggestions welcomed also to avail of any specific skills or work experience you have not reflected already in the to-do list.

Right now I am focused on decluttering, improving the sleepout/cabin and tidying the garden.

Minimum stay 3 nights. Unless you have skills of exceptional value, usual maximum stay is ONE week.

This homestay is listed on 2 other sites so I often receive several enquiries daily. Please confirm promptly after a response is sent to your enquiry or that same offer will be extended to the next person enquiring for those same dates. Many Workawayers do not reply promptly or do not reply at all - hopefully out having fun! Any silence after 24 hours is now taken to mean "no thanks, I've since made alternative arrangements".

Unlimited highspeed fibre wifi, laundry facilities and two mountain bikes available. There is a large well-stocked supermarket just a few minutes' walk away.

Please note your host is quite introverted plus works from home. Having spent two decades working for the foreign service, living and working in various locations overseas, this has most certainly impacted on me in a significant way. I am pretty certain my "typical kiwiness" is as a result somewhat corrupted :) Also if it is essential for you to spend lots and lots of time being entertained by a chatty host family in an upmarket situation, this is definitely NOT the place for you. It is more suited to self-reliant independent travellers who value privacy and a good night's sleep.

In addition to the supermarket, there are several takeaway food outlets and bus stops on Fairy Springs Road (SH5) in just a few minutes' walk. Skyline Luge Gondola is visible from the driveway. We're on the north side of town, 3.5 kms from the Rotorua iSite bus depot.
