Hi there!
My name is Simone, I'm a high school professor and former elementary school teacher from Italy. I've got a university degree in Philosophy, but I try to compensate by not being too boring at parties!
I like to travel and visit different places - and though I cannot call myself the bravest of the adventurers, I consider myself some sort of seasoned traveller, by now. While at it, I'm also eager to come across varoius people and their stories - especially the weirdest ones!
I'm also quite fond of writing, of any kind of literature, cinema and videogames; I'm also in love with folk music, fishing, hiking, sketching, pizza, coming up with quips and - honestly - the sound of my own voice: I really like to talk!
I joined Workaway just to step outside my comfort zone, to learn new stuff, get my hands dirty, and just be a little bit more and more indipendent.Interests

I worked as an Italian teacher, so I think I can surely help if you are trying to learn Italian. I am pretty fluent in English as well, so I can also help with that as. I know a somewhat sufficient amount of French, enough to chat and read. Lastly, with some effort and creativity, and a little help from a dictionary, I can decipher written Spanish, German and Hindi. Don't count on me speaking them properly, though!Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

More details about your skills
My education and studies didn't really packed me with a lot of practical skills; and I have to admit that I'm not really a crafty person (I really would like getting more into carpentry and fixing stuff), but I quite like practical work and I'm some what of a fast learner. Or at least, I'm quite stubborn when it comes to learn how to do things.
On the other hand, I know my ways with children and how to keep things in order; and I don't fear getting my hands dirty. Plus, I'm super curious about everything, so I do not disdain learning how stuff is done and works.
Also - and I know they're not really practical skills - I'm a good listener, a good talker, and I tend to consider myself as a open-minded person.
Also: by now, I travelled enough to know one thing or two about farming.Age

I play the guitar and I know how to shoot with a bow.
I'm a terrible cook and an embarassing dancer.

I came expecting to help with some farmwork, but my experience turn out to be closer to a vacation! Yes, there was some work to be done - gardening, pruning, harvesting vegetables, woodchopping, walking a whole pack of lovely goats through the woods every morning… read more
I stayed at his place in the woods for a couple of weeks, helping him with some good ol' woodchopping and some gardening. Working time in general was very relaxing, not having a really strict working schedule and Tal being a very flexible boss. When I wasn't chopping stuff, I was free to visit the… read more

My work mainly consisted in feeding the sheep and horses, and to help getting the camp ready for the coming Summer. Given that I wasn't the only workawayer there - big shout out to my mate Paul, by the way! - the work has never been too much or too hard, and I've got plenty of time to relax… read more
For the majority of my staying I worked with Astrid's dad, Ulf - great guy with great stories to tell and excellent tastes in movie and music - helping him with some small construction and repairing works and general caretaking of their property.
