Description
Hi we are a very active and fit couple, who live just outside the mountain village of Velez Rubio, in the province of Andalucia on a small Almond & Olive Farm Our local historic town of Velez Rubio is full of charm and character and is within walking distance of our Cortijo (farmhouse) with lots of amazing places of interest to visit and a large fresh produce market every Saturday. We grow our own vegetables, olives, almonds, grapes and various other fruits, which allow us to be semi self sufficient and mostly organic. We also have chickens for fresh free range eggs. We are animal lovers and currently have ,2 dogs so if you also love animals it would be a perfect fit! Our house is a mixture of old spanish country charm with the added benefits of more modern facilities, warm, cosy and welcoming in the winter months and cool and a welcome respite from the the heat in the summertime.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Workaways will exchange language skills & caring with us for our lovely dogs. Enjoying the olive harvest with picnic lunches and understanding how we grow & make the olive oil for our own consumption. An overall amazing experience in the heart of Andalcuia. Warm summer days, mostly and lunch in the olive groves. An ideal experience for any traveller.

Help
At the moment, beginning 26 we are at the peak of Olive picking and would ideally like help with the Olive Harvest. Also as part of the havesting we need to prune our almond and olive trees. We also have a few maintenance jobs around the property that could also be addressed whilst staying but the primary work at the moment would be the Olive Harvest.

As soon as I arrived, Sue and David made me feel like home. We had many wonderful conversations and they helped me a lot with experiencing local events like the markets. They did even let me stay one day longer, so I didn't have to find a new place to sleep before my next Workaway.
