Description
Non-Profit Organisation
We are the voice of the voiceless
We are a small non-profit team of animal welfare activists and veterinarians working to improve the lives of street dogs and cats on Koh Chang. Our main goal is to fight the overpopulation of unwanted animals through feeding, rescue, medical care, and sterilization.
Our work is divided into two main parts and always guided by our veterinarian.
One team works directly on the streets, feeding hungry dogs and cats and bringing them in for spaying and neutering — the most important step in creating lasting change for animal welfare on the island.
The heart of our project is our welfare centre, a very special place where animals in need can find safety, care, and love. We give shelter to animals that would not survive on the street, including senior dogs, blind or disabled animals, and those with chronic illnesses. We also help animals recover after surgery or during long healing processes.
Socialization is also a very important part of what we do. Many street animals are scared, insecure, or have never experienced kindness from humans. We try to gently help them build trust and become part of everyday life. They spend time with our volunteers, join us during daily routines, and learn step by step that the world can be a safe place.
At the moment, around 30 adult dogs live in our care. Some are waiting for adoption, some are with us temporarily, and some will stay with us permanently.
Our centre is only 5 minutes from Klong Son, where you can find small shops, local food, and everything you need for daily life. The beach is only 7 minutes away, and there is a river and waterfall nearby. Surrounded by mountains, fruit farms, and nature, our centre is peaceful, green, and far away from the noise of the tourist areas — a true oasis.
If you would like to support a meaningful project and spend time with animals in a beautiful natural environment, we would love to hear from you.
Our dear Virginia will be there to support you during your volunteer work. We’re a very safe place for independent, active and amazing women who travel alone. Of course, men and couples are also welcome.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Travellers will experience everyday life on Koh Chang in a more meaningful and authentic way than through tourism alone. By living and volunteering with us, they can learn about animal welfare in Thailand, the challenges of street animal overpopulation, and the importance of rescue, rehabilitation, and sterilisation work.
They will also have the chance to experience local island life, enjoy the peaceful natural environment, and connect with people who share a strong sense of compassion and responsibility. Living close to nature, surrounded by tropical plants, animals, and a simple community lifestyle, can also teach patience, adaptability, and mindfulness.
At our place, cultural exchange happens naturally through daily life, teamwork, shared meals, and caring together for animals in need. We hope volunteers leave not only with beautiful memories, but also with new perspectives, practical experience, and a deeper understanding of kindness in action.
Help
What kind of help are we looking for?
We are looking for mature, caring, and reliable volunteers who truly want to support animals in need and be part of a respectful team environment.
Requirements:
- Age 25+
- Comfortable starting the day early
- No alcohol, drugs, or mood-altering substances at our centre
- Emotional stability, patience, and kindness
- A minimum stay of 3 weeks (longer stays can be discussed after the first 2 weeks)
Your help may include:
- Daily care for dogs, many of whom need extra attention because of age, illness, disability, or recovery
- Feeding
- Giving medication
- Bathing dogs, including medical baths when necessary
- Socialising and building trust with shy dogs
- Playing, comforting, and spending time with the animals
- Walks and occasional beach visits with the dogs
- Cleaning and general support around the centre
- Sometimes helping settle barking dogs during the night
Our daily schedule usually follows two working shifts:
8:00–13:00 and 15:00–20:00
Other skills are also very welcome, especially if you can help with gardening, social media, or small repair projects.
We value teamwork very highly, but we also appreciate every volunteer as an individual. We try to make the work suitable for each person’s skills, strengths, and capacity.

Accommodation
Accommodation & Common Areas:
We offer simple, comfortable volunteer accommodation in a peaceful natural setting.
Rooms:
There are three rooms prepared for volunteers:
Room 1
A private room with air conditioning, a double bed, wardrobe, private bathroom with hot water, and a small living area.
Room 2
A shared room with air conditioning, three single beds, wardrobe, shared bathroom with hot water, and a small living area.
Room 3 / Office Room
A smaller room with air conditioning, a double sofa bed, wardrobe, and access to a shared bathroom with hot water.
As many volunteers travel solo, room sharing may be part of the experience.
Shared spaces:
Volunteers can also use our common areas, including:
- A fully equipped kitchen with everything needed for cooking
- A shared living space where everyone can relax, eat, and spend time together
- A beautiful garden with tropical fruit trees, flowering plants, and lots of greenery
What we offer
In exchange for your help, we provide:
- Free accommodation
- Unlimited Wi-Fi
- Access to the kitchen
- Coffee, tea, water, and seasonal fruit from the garden
According to Workaway guidelines, volunteers who help 5 hours a day, 5 days a week are offered basic food supplies to prepare 3 meals a day. Because food in Thailand is usually quite affordable, we offer an alternative option: instead of food provision, volunteers may choose free use of our motorbikes and washing machine. Cleaning products are included, while petrol is paid by the volunteer.
What else ...
In their free time, helpers can explore the natural beauty of Koh Chang. The island is known for its unique microclimate, lush jungle, waterfalls, mangroves, quiet beaches, and beautiful viewpoints. There are also great opportunities for snorkeling and diving, including spots with coral reefs and shipwrecks. Koh Chang offers a wonderful mix of nature, relaxation, and adventure.
