CALLING THOSE... who have a passion for the visual arts, community art initiatives and of the education of children and may want to spend the summer working with a creative team in Bangkok, Thailand.
WE ARE… School of Art: Bangkok's leading independent art school offering access opportunities to children, teens and adults who want to get connected with the visual arts. Our students come from a mix of both Thai and expat families. Classes are lead in English.
As a studio team of artists, designers and educators, we are passionate about making a positive impact in the world of art education. We take pride in a programme of workshops that, we believe, have been successful in instilling a love of learning and of creative meaningfulness. A significant rate of returning students year-after-year as well as a rich team of teachers and instructors has been a central part of the studio's 5 year history.

For those of you who are interested in develop your career as a teacher, we will give you the most valuable teaching practice. You will get observe a dynamic and creative learning environment, to be able to contribute to this model with your insights. Although we wish for you the start your first weeks with us as a teaching assistant, our goal is that through a programme or coaching and mentoring with our senior tutors, you will have the opportunity to develop the lesson plan and to build your capacity to lead a class of your own during the programme.
Whether you are a practicing artist, or just interested to engage with creative processes, we wish to help you to develop further understanding of Art & Design techniques and develop confidence with the making, facilitation and discussion around a wide remit of Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Craft and Sculpture exercise.
Bangkok plays host to more international schools in one city than any other and with that comes a large body of international students who come to us for our Summer extracurricular programme. Whilst all student arrive speaking and comprehending a decent level of English, a big part of the exchange will promote the development of cross cultural skills as you navigate and learn from our group of students and parents from a wide number of different nationalities. You can expect to work along side, namely, Thai, British, American, Australian, French, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Singaporean students.
At 8 years old, we consider ourselves a fairly established studio, but still one that is looking to take bold choices and to grow creatively. A big part of the exchange will allow you the opportunity to gain insight of a small but established and successful leading creative business.Projects involving children

Help
We are offering a programme of art workshops for our 4-6 year old, 7-12 year old student artists. Our holiday camps for kids are rich with creative ideas and process and are a lot of fun. Student artists leave a week-long programme with a deepened appreciation for the subject, developed creative confidence, and between 7-9 high quality finished artworks. Camps run weekly across international school holidays.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR… an up-and-coming Art Teacher, or someone working in a social aspect of the Visual Arts, to join our studio team to lead and support classes for our primary-level students across 3 or more weeks of our holiday programmes. Working as part of a young and passionate team for set hours during a working week, the Art Teacher will be responsible for the implementation of the art programmes. We’re looking for someone who has a strong understanding of Art & Design, is attentive to the learning and pastoral needs in children, is driven, and who will thrive in a creative and fast-paced environment. You will start off as a teaching assistant and through a programme of mentorship, you will receive the necessary support to lead your own class. Strong language and communication skills will be essential.Languages spoken

YOU WILL BE HOSTED... in a beautiful and well-reviewed hostel a 5 minute walk to the studio, within a bustling part of central Bangkok. You will be offered lunch during your working days and there are many Thai, Japanese or Western restaurants in close proximity to the studio and hostel for your mornings and evenings. There is a BTS (sky train) station that is also a short walk from the studio and hostel which will connect you easily to vast areas of this dynamic city. Across weekends you will be free to explore the many travel options within Thailand.
What else ...
We hope that during your trip you carve out the time to travel to other parts of Thailand or South-East Asia. There is so much to see and explore in this region, whatever your budget. The job post has been created with this in mind. A weekend on a beach or trekking the mountains is within reach from Bangkok city. Our studio team are well travelled and will happily advise you on any trips you may be planning.
MEALS: We will provide you with a daily lunch. There are a wide number of meal 1USD options within 5mins from your accommodation. Thai food caters easily to a pescatarian diet but it is worth noting that it is a little more challenging to follow a strict vegetarian or vegan diet.
INTERNET/PHONE USE: Both the studio and accommodation have good wifi reception but we ask that phones are not used during the working studio day
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION INFO: We are a short walk to an BTS (skytrain) station, connecting you with a vast majority of the city. There are many malls near by and more restaurant options than you can choose from during your stay with us. There are bars, cinemas, clubs near by.
