We are a family living in Shanagarry, East Cork. Rupert and Lydia with our 4 children, Amelia who is 11, Jasper 9, Ottilie 6 and little Jago who is 2. Rupert runs four busy farmers markets and works on his family oyster farm and Lydia does part-time illustration and runs a pizzeria every Saturday.

We live on Lydias parents organic farm and on the farm is a Cookery School, so it's a great place to be if you are interested in food. We are a mile from the sea and 40 minutes from Cork city. Our closest village is Shanagarry. The small fishing village of Ballycotton is just a few miles away.
You will enjoy living in the Irish countryside and improving your english. Also you have a chance to learn a variety of extra skills, and opportunities to watch cheese making and bread making all while meeting some wonderful people. There are lovely villages beaches and many things to do in the local area and we have a bikes for you to use.

We need an energetic entusiastic person to spend time with us this Autumn. Ideally over the age of 25 with a driving license. We are looking for someone to help out mainly in the garden and helping us with the maintainance which has been hard to stay on top of after such a busy summer. You don't need gardening experience, just lots of energy and love of the outdoors. We also would like some help at Ruperts farmers markets from time to time and the occasional day on the oyster farm. Everyday will be a little different but hopefully interesting and an oppertunity to learn new skills and meet new friends.
Accommodation is a bedroom in the courtyard behind the house with wifi. We tend to eat early with the children and you are welcome to join in or do your own thing. Living beside a cookery school and working at markets means the food is good around here! The fridge and freezer are always full and you are welcome to help yourself. We would expect you to washing up after yourself and make yourself at home.
We live in a beautiful rural area with lots of interesting things going on, particularly in the world of food and Organic farming. Our nearest village is Shanagarry (5 min bike ride), which has a pub, shop, pottery, craft shop and cafe and we are 4km from the fishing village of Ballycotton, where we keep a small fishing boat. We are close to many different beaches and lovely cliff walks. Cork city is 40min away and there are regular trains from our closest town, Midleton and slightly less regular buses from Shanagarry.
