Description
Hello from Kevin (29) and Christine (27), a hardworking couple from sunny Singapore!
We have been on a career break since Sept 2025 to travel, explore, and live a completely different life from what we know in Singapore. With a strong desire to immerse ourselves in nature and experience the rewarding work of farming, we are excited to be in New Zealand, ready to dive into new challenges and learn valuable skills.
We plan to travel the entire country within a year. Our journey started in Auckland, and so far we’ve made our way through Kihikihi, Taranaki, Whanganui and Fielding. Our next stop is Wellington, and from there we’ll be heading down to the South Island to continue our adventure before eventually looping back up north.
We’re excited for the opportunity to contribute, grow, and embrace the beauty of New Zealand while experiencing life in a way that’s different from the hustle and bustle of Singapore.

Since arriving in New Zealand, we’ve mainly worked in gardens, with one placement on a dairy farm.
In the gardens, we’ve gained hands-on experience with pruning, weeding, transplanting, building plant supports, and moving materials around the property. Kevin has used power tools for cutting down trees and dismantling an old wooden bench. Outside of Workaway, he’s been converting our car into a self-contained vehicle, which has given him the chance to learn new practical and technical skills.
On the dairy farm, we helped care for calves — feeding, moving them between sheds and paddocks, vaccinating, drenching, and assisting with milking.
We’re really excited to experience local life, meet new people, and help out along the way. We love getting involved, learning new skills, and contributing wherever we can — whether that’s in the garden, around the house, or with animals.

They were flexible with the work timings as long as we completed 4 hours of work a day. We usually started work around 9am and finished about 1pm which would be when Anushka would call us in for lunch. The work was varied and dependent on the weather. We moved… read more
