We spent 2 months here from the end of April until the end of June. It was such a great experience for us both and we feel we really learned alot about working in hospitality! The area is beautiful, with long walks available up hills or around lochs. Lots of birds, deer and sheep to be seen. Having a form of transport is very helpful, as the hotel is extremely remote and most towns are at least a 40 minute drive away. The manager Ollie was very welcoming and helped us settle in, his 2 dogs chichi and boo were so adorable, we really enjoyed giving them cuddles everyday! As soon as Eva, Adrian and their dog Scapa came back they made us feel like part of the family. We also crossed paths with other workawayers there who were friendly and helpful. We were there just as the hotel started its busy season, which meant there was always work to be done. With many guests coming and going and friendly faces to share stories with and have great conversations. Our jobs included welcoming guests, making teas/coffee/cake, cleaning rooms, helping serve breakfast and dinner, serving lunch guests and helping maintain the property. Some bar work was available but optional. Jack also worked on DIY and mechanical jobs. The hotel feels as though you have stepped into someone's home, but also a small museum full of history and memories. We are so grateful for the opportunity to experience life here and we hope to return sometime in the future. Thank-you all again! :)

Grazie Ragazzi, è stato un bellissimo condividere, persone molto rispettose e cordiali. Vittorio sempre simpatico dopo il caffè della colazione... jajajaja e Erica super attenta ai dettagli e ordine generale. Devo dire che sono molto autonomi lavorando e predisposti ad imparare e aiutare. Dei super workaway sono diventati i nostri amici e speriamo anche i suoi ❤️. In conclusione bellissima sperienza speriamo di rivederci presto

I had a very nice first workaway experience at Gaby's wonderful place overlooking the sea in Valaraíso. The food was always excellent and Gaby adapts well to dietary requirements. I had a great time with the other workawayers who stayed there at the same time as me while still enjoying the privacy of having my own room to sleep at. However, sometimes communication and task divison could be improved. Tuve una primera experiencia de Workaway muy agradable en la maravillosa casa de Gaby con vista al mar en Valparaíso. La comida siempre fue excelente y Gaby se adapta bien a las necesidades dietéticas. La pasé muy bien con los otros workawayers que se quedaban allí al mismo tiempo que yo, sin dejar de disfrutar de la privacidad de tener mi propia habitación para dormir. Sin embargo, a veces la comunicación y la división de tareas podrían mejorarse.

J'ai passé un excellent moment avec Audrey. Je suis ravie d'avoir eu l'occasion de la rencontrer et j'espère garder le contact avec elle . Son travail a été parfait dans tout ce que je lui avais demandé de faire. Nos échanges étaient très chaleureux et complices. Un grand merci , Audrey !! et bonne chance pour la suite de ton voyage .

You will find JOY right when you arrive! Her children are so magical and beautiful. We came with our little family and we fell in love for Joana's family! We could not recommend more. Everyone takes turn preparing delicious food and cleaning up the common areas. Joana provides a lot of vegetarian options for everyone. There are many tasks you can choose, others that she gently ask for help. There are many rooms and caravans and you can choose what suits you best or what is available as well! Joana invites you to join meetings in the villages and explain very clearly what to do and where to go! In our specific case, our little one was really well hosted as well and had a meaningful moment with her little ones! If you go there, make sure you do your best to support her project! I was lucky to come to Dorbon and get to know Carine, Florian and Anaé. An incredibly welcoming, curious and open-minded family :) it is a great place to meet many interesting people and exchange, and the work was nice as well :D

Since we started this experience, we have hosted so many people. Sometimes it only takes a few days to create bonds that you know will last forever, and Rachael is one of those people. She was with us for two weeks, but from day one she was immediately part of our family :) Always smiling, friendly and above all patient (it is not always easy to manage two small children but she has always done her best to succeed). She has been an excellent babysitter but also a friend and a good companion for us. We will come to Canada soon to finally take a ride in your Lamborghini! :D We love you Rachael :)

Harry and Finley are such gems! So polite and friendly, we really enjoyed hosting both of them. They were willing to contribute on a very varied and diverse set of tasks, and they helped us a lot. The farm both looks and fuctions better now after what they have helped us with, and we are grateful for their efforts. They also showed flexibility and interest to get to know and get along with our crew and family, which we appreciate. We also enjoyed them bringing smiles and jokes all around, thank you!

I had a lovely time with Susanne and her family (and friends). It was a last minute request and I’m grateful they still accommodated me even though they are busy. I only stayed for 6 days and I am no way Dutch at all but it did feel like I have a Dutch family. I wish I was able to stay longer, but I wasn't able to because of my schedule. They are intellectuals (honestly even their dog and cat are smart!!) and I was glad to have met them. I was able to visit them again for a day last month before I left Netherlands, and may see them again in France this month. :) Would love to be back someday. Hope everyone is well!

We loved having Frederik here! He came with a calm, friendly attitude. He also brought skills, interest and a willingness to learn, all of which we are sure will get him where he wants to be in life. We are also grateful for his flexibility and ability to make an effort to get along with our family and crew. Thank you for everything you helped us with, best wishes!

It was a real pleasure to host Janne as a Workaway volunteer. She is not only intelligent and thoughtful, but also incredibly reliable and committed to every task she takes on. Janne approaches her work with a positive attitude and never hesitates to help out, regardless of the type of job. She is trustworthy, proactive, and completes her tasks thoroughly and independently. Her presence brought a calm and balanced energy to our place, and her respectful and mature approach made it very easy to live and work together. She also had a wonderful connection with my son Ali — they spent lovely time together, and it was clear that she truly enjoyed being around him. As a host, I deeply appreciated her honesty, her sense of responsibility, and her lovely personality. I’d highly recommend Janne to any future host without hesitation — she will be an asset to any project. Thank you, Janne! You’re welcome back anytime.

She may say she is introvert and shy. But I got to know a strongminded, balanced, empathic and independent young person! It felt so good to know that she is on that world! Already about ten minutes after arriving, she offered her help in the kitchen to prepare dinner! A person who is used to help and work together! She made an amazing job with mowing the field where the sheep go, helped on the logg-cabin, built a gate and wall and many more. It felt very natural to have here as part of the family! Lucky you who get her as a workawayer!

My experience was wonderful. Thank you very much for letting me be part of this small family farm. It's obvious that it’s cared for with love and not out of necessity. All the animals are happy, calm, and friendly, especially the cats and dogs, they always want to cuddle 🥰 I will miss them a lot. Nemanja, Francesca, and Mirjana are a wonderful and welcoming family. They are very helpful and nice. They even easily adapted to my gluten-free needs, which I truly appreciate, they got everything I needed❤️ The work was not hard, and I learned many new things. I learned how to milk a goat, bake homemade bread, make goat cheese, and most importantly, how to ride a horse 😍 Every day we went on beautiful trails with the horses. Nemanja is a great teacher and it’s obvious he enjoys what he does, so in just two weeks I learned to ride quite well, and after just 3–4 days I was already galloping 🥰 The nature is truly breathtaking and untouched, with beautiful paths everywhere. Also, everyone in the village and nearby town is extremely friendly. I really hope I can come back one day. It was one of the most beautiful experiences 🥰

We truly had the best two weeks staying with Jodi and David, can't recommend it enough. The flower farm is gorgeous and the work is really enjoyable. The accommodation was fantastic, we had a whole space to ourselves, food, snacks, tv, and Netflix. We loved coming over for dinner in the evenings, thank you so much for our delicious meals :) We went on great trips to the market, the winter solstice, and thanks for the beach recommendations. We had a great time. The whole place is so special but Jodi and David make it even more incredible, the warmest and loveliest hosts you could ever ask for!! And of course we can't forget about Popcorn... we miss her already. SO CUTE!

My stay with Tania was nothing short of amazing! She is a very gentle, humble and generous soul. Every little something she has she happily shares with you. A lot of the food you'll eat is traditionally Greek and very tasty. The property is like a fairy forest, with no immediate neighbours, surrounded by nature. She keeps chicken for fresh eggs and occasional meat plus a family of cats for daily cuddles. During the season the veggies will be coming from her organic garden and if you're into raw goat milk you can buy it from a local shepherd nearby. Her kids are grown up now and living with the father in the village. We went to visit often and even worked in the vineyard all together a few times. Afterwards we shared some homecooked food in the family home. Her kids speak excellent English and are very curious and open minded. It was a delight to get to know them and share some memorable moments. If you want to experience some real local Greek life and cultural exchange you don't need to look any further.

Romane joined us at the beginning of the season and planned to stay for two months. We are very happy that she is spending the season with us. She enriches our team with her many talents. She works hard, but she also knows how to party. She is always courteous and has become an integral part of the team. We wish her all the best for the future.
