Description
Meet Eddy & Eva — Your Home Away From Home in Jinja, Uganda
Perched on Mwiri Hill, we're a husband-and-wife team with three kids of our own — and honestly, dozens more we consider family. Alongside raising our children, we run a grassroots non-profit that's become a lifeline for children, teens, and young adults across our community.
What we do:
🏫 Our Community School — Quality education for 400+ children, many of them orphans or vulnerable kids living with caregivers. This isn't just a classroom — it's a safety net.
🧵 Our Skills Center — We train unemployed youth and women in tailoring & fashion, computer skills, farming, hairdressing, beauty, and product-making — giving people real tools to build a livelihood, not just a handout.
Why volunteer with us?
Because you won't be sitting on the sidelines. Our volunteers dive in — teaching classes, running kids' workshops, leading dance sessions, planting trees, doing community outreach, training vocational skills, counseling, gardening, eco-projects, construction, painting, photography/videography, and fundraising. Whatever your skillset, there's a place for it here.
We believe in empowerment over charity — helping people build futures they're proud of, not dependence. It's slow, real work, and it's making a difference.
Come work alongside us.
We've hosted volunteers from all over the world, and every one of them has left a mark — on our kids, our community, and us. If you're ready to roll up your sleeves and be part of something meaningful, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out — let's build something together. -

In these 3 weeks we renovated classrooms, repainted part of the school and worked with PCs and also spend a lot of time with the lovely kids dancing and singing.
A very lovely family thank you.
I love everything that Eddy and Eva have set up with the non profit organisations, it’s inspiring. I spent some time teaching English and computer lessons as well as helping out with the serving of porridge at breakfast time.
