We had an amazing stay with Rachel and Aaron. We originally planned to stay for one week and ended up staying three - which says a lot about how great the experience was. Spending time with them and their daughter Riley was really special, and we felt very welcome from the start. This workaway was different from others we’ve done, in a very positive way. The working days and hours were flexible. We made a task list together and could choose when to do things, sometimes working independently while Rachel and Aaron were at work, and other times working together. Everything was based on trust and good communication. They all know the Taranaki area extremely well, and thanks to them we got to explore many beautiful places and truly experience the region, we even swam in rivers together couple of times! A real highlight was being able to farm-sit for them for a couple of days. We really appreciated the trust they placed in us, looking after their home and all their animals. The work was varied and fun, and we got to try so many new things: feeding calves, riding quad bikes, building fences, driving tractor, moving cows between paddocks, hedge trimming, lawn mowing, preparing veggie beds. We also learned to use new tools like a nail gun and a chainsaw, which was a great experience. We especially loved the family dinners - spending time together talking, playing games, doing puzzles, and just relaxing made us feel like part of the family. Thank you, Rachel, Aaron and Riley for welcoming us so openly and sharing your family farm life with us. We’ll never forget this experience and would highly recommend this workaway to anyone.

I spent over two and a half months with Fee and Julian at their home in Binzwangen and had an excellent experience with them. They are both very friendly, calm, and open people, always willing to share what they have and what they know. They made me feel totally welcome in their home and like part of the family, and I also had the opportunity to meet several of their family members and friends, who were all very nice and friendly too. Their baby is very cute and cheerful, and all the animals in the house are awesome (the dog, the cats, the rabbits, and the chickens). Working with them was always good, as they were clear about what needed to be done and trusted me to do it independently. They enjoy sharing their skills, and they have many. Many of the tasks were done together with them, and many were done independently on my own. Beyond work, we also shared many great moments, like going for walks, playing board games, or simply chatting. Another big plus of the experience was the language immersion. I had for a long time wanted to have a deep immersion, speaking only German 100 percent of the time, and I had this opportunity with them. They were very patient and helpful with my learning, mistakes, and endless questions about the language. In summary: I had two and a half months of cultural exchange with them, connecting both personally and through work, always with mutual respect and consideration, helping them with their projects while developing new skills and boosting my German level. I am really grateful for the time I spent with them and would happily come back again someday. I recommend Fee and Julian to every workawayer willing to give focused effort and good work in exchange for an authentic and truly human cultural experience.

Dominik is from the Czech Republic , He stayed with us for 3 weeks and proved to be one of our best workways Dominik is strong and with a lot of talent for DIY and construction projects , He did so many things that I needed done for so long around here from organizing many of our outbuildings, cutting wood, building a trench for water to run away from our barn, chopping firewood, moving leaves, sorting tools and much more! He took pride in all his work, was always polite and positive,  I enjoyed our movie time each night and learning about his travels.  We can recommend this workaway !00%We hope to have you again anytime, Wishing you all the best in your travels

This place is not exactly as they say... It is so much more :) You will tend to the garden and care for the home, and you will be so much cared for. My heart is filled with joy when I think of the many supper, the many breakfast, the time spend chatting around the table drinking tea, the celebrations, the board game, the hikes in the mountain, the old house and its dry toilet, the scent of the burned wood! The inhabitant of the place and their visitors always have interesting stories, beautiful DIY projects and are very cool people to hang out with! To know that a place like this one exist, where people enjoy to live together and to take care of each other, fills me with hope and joy and serenity. I will never say thanks enough for what these 3 months at the place have brought to me! Thank you so much, Dom, Pauline, Manon, Nausicaa, Kiona, Matthieu, Suzanne, Noé, Lina, Luka, Cédric! My heart is big with the memory of you!

If you are looking for authenticity, an authentic experience of nature, good conversation over good food and the enjoyment of Bavarian beer, Xaver's Waldhaus is the place for you. Xaver is an excellent host and you can learn a lot from him about self-sufficient living, self-sufficiency and wild plants, and the location is simply fantastic.

We had the pleasure of hosting Isshin for 20 days in January. We had very changing weather these days, from snowstorm and minus 20 degrees to rain and sun. Isshin was not complaining about it at all and continued with the tasks given. We wish Isshin the best in his continued travel

Our stay with Max was everything we hoped Workaway to be. He allowed us to stay with him last minute after other travel plans went awry and welcomed us with open arms - if you're looking for a flexible host, definitely try messaging Max. However, you must be in it for the work, too! Max has a lovely property that we spent our days at feeding the chickens, harvesting vegetables, chopping wood, foraging for mushrooms and chestnuts, and making lots of tomato sauce and pesto. You'll get your hands in the dirt and learn so much - Max is very dedicated to teaching those who come to stay with him about his project, how he got started, and all his tips and tricks he has learned over the years for successful permaculture. He also cares a lot about making sure everyone is having a good time, which we experienced through dance parties, movie nights, and baking brownies. While the location is remote, it's in a beautiful area with nice hikes around and even though you're not in town, we had the opportunity to meet many locals who came to see the farm and have lunch with us, a good chance to practice conversational Italian. Be ready to fall in love with the family of Maremmano-Abruzzese sheepdogs (cuddles are required any time you walk by). If you're looking to immerse yourself in nature, learn and experience gardening and permaculture, and a family-like experience with a host of wonderful characters who travel through this place, this is the farm for you. Thank you Max for being a wonderful host!

My stay with Sezer was a very rich and meaningful Workaway experience. From the very beginning, the atmosphere was relaxed and natural — more like living with a friend than volunteering. Sezer is open in communication and very attentive. I especially want to highlight that he is always ready to help in any situation! Another big plus for me was the food — Sezer is a great cook, and I really enjoyed experiencing the local cuisine. The work tasks were varied and clear, and there was always a good balance between work and free time. The place itself is calm and conveniently located, close to the sea. It’s a wonderful environment to slow down, stay present, and enjoy simple everyday moments. I’m grateful for this experience and happy to have been part of Sezer’s project. I confidently recommend this Workaway and hope our paths cross again. Thank you and much respect, Sezer!

Lea stayed 4 days at my place in January 2026 and it was a pleasure to host her. She did an excellent job keeping the home nice and tidy and also mowed the lawn during this time. She is friendly and it was nice going to the night markets with her and my housemate Sarge who also enjoyed playing chess with her.

Before I realized it, I had spent a total of about two months with the Guillermo family. Their place, surrounded by the jungle, felt like a true oasis. I spent very creative and fulfilling days painting murals, building a pizza oven, and working on various projects together. During my stay, I also had the opportunity to experience ceremonies I had been interested in for a long time, such as Ayahuasca, Dieta, and San Pedro. These experiences allowed me to deeply reflect on myself and made my time there even more meaningful and enriching. Guillermo and Kori are incredibly kind and friendly people. They were always thoughtful and caring, which made me feel safe and comfortable throughout my stay. I also loved tasting fresh fruits from the jungle and enjoying cacao drinks and delicious desserts they prepared for me—experiences that are truly unique to this place. Spending time with their lovely children was another very special part of my stay and something I will always cherish. The time I spent here has become one of the most valuable experiences in my life. I will never forget these memories, and I truly look forward to the day when we can meet again and create something together🙏✨

Starting off, I just want to say that this was an incredibly delightful and transformative experience for me. I stayed at Elke’s farm near the town of Horb am Neckar for about three weeks, and I was welcomed with so much warmth and kindness by Elke, her family, and all their friends. I felt truly at home. I had the chance to learn how to handle horses and help out with farm chores. They were incredibly patient with me, especially since it was my first time doing all of this, and they took the time to teach me patiently. I also got to improve my German and practice it a lot, and at the same time, my English got better too. More than that, I learned so much about the local culture, their customs, and we really bonded. We made friends, had fun together, played games, watched movies, and shared lots of great conversations and laughter. We even cooked and dined together, exchanging cultural experiences and learning from one another. In short, it was an incredibly enriching experience — not just for language skills, but also for cultural exchange, fun, and personal growth. It was a wonderful journey of laughter, dancing, movie nights, and becoming a better person overall. I feel like I left a little bit of Brazil behind and took a little piece of Germany with me. ❤️🇧🇷🇩🇪

Connie and Wolfgang’s property is set in an incredibly beautiful landscape. When we arrived with our camper, we parked right under the olive trees. The toilet and shower were located in a small, lovingly designed bamboo hut outdoors. The kitchen was also outside, which meant that while cooking you could always enjoy the beautiful view of the garden. Because everything took place outdoors, you felt very close to nature. The working atmosphere was consistently very pleasant. Both of them treated us with a lot of appreciation and were happy about even the smallest progress, which in turn made us very happy as well. Wolfgang also always took the time to show or explain things to us. The trust that was placed in us was truly wonderful to experience. What will especially stay in our memories is Wolfgang’s way of enjoying his daily coffee with vegan milk. The delicious coffee after meals and the mindful enjoyment of the warm sun rays were just as much a part of everyday life here as the work itself and were truly celebrated. Once a week, we accompanied Connie to the weekly market and grocery shopping. It often happened that we made spontaneous detours to feed small puppies or even set out on little rescue missions when we found dogs by the roadside. Both of them have huge hearts for animals, and Connie’s instinct to help the dogs on the streets quickly rubbed off on us. On our onward journey, we therefore came close more than once to adopting a dog and ending our travels early. So beware: love for animals is contagious 😉 During these weeks, we also got to know many delicious vegan dishes from Connie, which we now regularly recreate ourselves. The lemon pesto in particular was a real flavor discovery that we will not forget anytime soon. The cabbage salad with soy strips has also made its way into our absolute top five dishes. And then there were the wild herbs... incredibly tasty and something we truly miss ever since.

Feiyu and I arrived in mid-August and were truly delighted to encounter everything this place had to offer — Charlotte and her lovely cats and dogs. In the jungle cabin, we spent three wonderful weeks together, filled with anticipation. We tried various types of “jungle work”, which felt entirely new to us, while Charlotte, though incredibly busy, was so understanding and always considerate of our efforts. We also met another lovely pair of volunteers, Maya and Manish. Together, we tackled small tasks, talked about all sorts of things, and enjoyed the last beautiful moments of our time in Thailand. This journey left us with entirely new feelings, and we will always cherish the memories of our time in Lanta and the lovely people (and furry friends) we met there.
