I had a lovely time during my stay here. Elke and Martin were incredibly caring and considerate and I really felt at home during my time here. I was included in plans, and was shown the local area. I was given a lot of free time to relax and the tasks were given with good instructions and Elke was always available if I needed clarification. If it was too cold outside they made sure that I worked inside, that I never overworked myself, and they treated me as a part of the family rather than just an employee like some places at times can do. The accommodation was great, a nice studioapartment in the loft and the food they provided was supergood. Hoping to visit again in the future!

What a wonderful experience at this Buddhist center. I was made to feel very welcome from the start. The center is very well organized and, above all, the team is fantastic: welcoming, caring, and attentive. My job was to keep the rooms and common areas clean and to cook from time to time. I was able to interact with the guests and share meals with them. It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas about our cultures. We were a group of international volunteers and had a wonderful time together. The team helped us discover the region with their advice and involved us in local life. I was also able to participate in the meditations and courses offered at the center, which were offered to me free of charge. The atmosphere at the center was peaceful and conducive to dialogue. Everything you need for a wonderful experience. She will remain in my heart!

I had a fantastic time with Rennet and her dogs, Ajo and Yara. Rennet is a kind-hearted person. I helped her with the housework and the dogs, and she helped me improve my English. I would come back anytime.

I stayed with Snædís, Stefán and the kids in december and it was the perfect ending for my year in Iceland. My time there was amazing and I loved getting to know the icelandic everyday life! Everybody was really kind and welcoming and I was able to meet a lot of relatives of the family who were all nothing but great to me. It was my first Christmas away from my family and I couldn't have found better people to spend it with. I got along really well with the kids, sure it wasn't always easy but whats life without a few challenges:) I hope to see everyone again at some point <3

Wow what an amazing experience ...where do I even begin!? Staying with Elisabetta and her two children, Eva Luna and Ernesto in October/November was such a wonderful experience. Elisabetta is so incredibly warm and welcoming and really integrates you into her life which, in my opinion, is what makes this workaway such a unique and special experience. I felt truly immersed getting to know Elisabettas friends and family, as well as joining in with her hobbies and interests and getting to know the beautiful Salento region. All of Elisabettas friends and family are such warm and friendly people and I felt so lucky to be getting to know them all. Eva Luna and Ernesto are such beautiful children. I really enjoyed spending time with them, learning about their interests and having fun! As Elisabetta says on her profile you really do become part of the family. I helped around the house doing jobs like cleaning and laundry, as well as helping with Eva Luna and Ernesto. Salento is such a beautiful place with it's incredible coastline, turquoise waters and rich vibrant culture. Overall it was such an incredible experience and one that I will cherish deeply. If you are looking for an immersive experience with a wonderful family then this is the place for you! Thank you so much Elisabetta, Ernesto and Eva Luna. Grazie mille!

Stefania was a wonderful volunteer and from the very first day she brought a great, positive energy into our home. She is open-minded, kind, independent, and truly engaged in everything she does. She is very easy to live and work with, always respectful and motivated. In Opinogóra, she helped us with many different tasks: bringing firewood into the house, shoveling snow, cleaning and painting the chicken coop, feeding the goats and the smallest kid goat, packing dried herbs for herbal infusions, cleaning and organizing the cellar and the kitchen, and assisting with renovation work such as breaking a wall near the studio and organizing the space. She completed all tasks carefully, with initiative and without any complaints. During the second week in Kielce, Stefania took part in more physical renovation work: plastering and sanding walls, filling gaps in the walls and floors, carrying firewood to the fireplace, and organizing and cleaning the garage. She worked reliably, responsibly, and with great attention to detail. Beyond work, Stefania was a lovely person to share daily life with. She cooked delicious Italian meals for us, enjoyed conversations, shared her culture, and easily adapted to our lifestyle and house rules. She was simply a pleasure to have around. We wholeheartedly recommend Stefania to any future host. She is hardworking, warm, trustworthy, and leaves behind not only well-done work but also beautiful memories. She will always be very welcome in our home.

We stayed with Giuseppe for ten days and we had a wonderful time. The working hours were more than fair and Giuseppe always made sure, that the work wasn’t too hard or boring for us. We had a lot of free time to read, play with the dogs (they are absolutely adorable and so so friendly) or sit in the sun. It was very nice to be in such a quiet and calm spot. Perfect to escape the hectic everyday life. We also had a very fun jamsession, played some games together and got to know his family as well as Santo Stefano. The room was very comfortable and Giuseppe cooked for us everyday and made some delicious bread. Overall we had an amazing time! Truly a special place to stay at😊 Thank you so much!!

Nora is a very friendly, positive and open minded person, autonomous in her tasks and easy to share with. She has a high level of maturity despite her young age. She likes to learn, she's a good rider adaptable and attentive to instructions that make her progress quickly in dressage. I recommend her to every host.

We couldn’t have been any happier with Sam; from day one he showed pure enthusiasm, passion, and dedication to our cause. Not only is he a true animal lover, he’s also an extremely hard worker. Having Sam with us wasn’t like having a workaway volunteer, it was more like having a full member of the team. He showed amazing willing in every aspect of our work, and went above and beyond every single day. We will definitely miss having him here, and hope he comes back to see us again 😺

Thank you so much! I enjoyed staying at your house a lot! My main jobs are playing with kids, hanging laundries, vacuuming the floor, helping dinner preparation and so on. I had so much free time other than that jobs, so it was comfortable for me to stay there. I enjoyed playing with kids and having family time with you. They are sometimes lose control and get angry or cry, but they are so cute. I felt how kids are loved by parents and how smart and pretty they are. I love them! In addition, regarding food, I was glad to have rice for breakfast with Stacey because I love rice 🌾 Also, food was very delicious! Thank you so much for cooking it! I also enjoyed cooking Japanese curry. Although I got sick and had stayed at house for most of my stay which is unusual things as workawaer, but they warmly welcomed me and I’m glad to be in part of their family! Thanks! I love you!!!

Tom and Millie were outstanding workawayers and an absolute pleasure to host. They were reliable, hardworking and thoughtful, and approached every task with care and a great attitude. They showed excellent initiative, worked well independently and together, and were always happy to help wherever needed. Just as importantly, they were lovely people to have around — respectful, easygoing and great company. I would happily recommend Tom and Millie to any future hosts and would welcome them back without hesitation.

Sorry for my late feedback! I spent around 2 weeks with Elke and my stay there was very very beautiful. Elke is very kind and social. The nature and the atmosphere are wonderful. The food is awesome. I enjoyed meeting people from all around the globe, country dancing with Elke and learning about the horses. Althogh the work requires a litte fittness, it was enjoyable especially with team work. Grateful for my experience and so very recommended

I stayed with Victoria and her family for six weeks, and overall my experience was quite mixed. This was my fourth Workaway, so I feel it’s important to share an honest review to help future volunteers understand what to expect and decide whether this placement is the right fit for them. On the positive side, there are many lovely animals on the property, chickens, dogs, ponies, horses and cattle, all well-natured and enjoyable to be around. The property itself is beautiful, especially when riding out, with plenty to explore and enjoy. Volunteers stay in a small cottage, usually shared with one or two others, which offers a good level of privacy and comfort. On the more challenging side, the cultural exchange is quite limited. Most tasks are expected to be completed independently, with little hands-on explanation or guidance. At times it feels more like working for the family rather than with them, which was very different from my previous Workaway experiences. There is little sense of teamwork or “doing things together”, and the balance between what volunteers give and what they receive can sometimes feel off. Communication happens largely via Messenger, and throughout the day new tasks or additional side jobs may be added. Guidance is often minimal, with instructions such as “you’ll figure it out” or “just Google it”. While this may work in some situations, it doesn’t really fir the workaway description with „lots to show and to learn“ and can make the experience feel more like an unpaid job rather than a volunteer exchange. Priorities also change frequently, which can make it difficult to understand how decisions are made. Additionally, the workload is clearly higher than the advertised 25 hours per week. A significant part of the work involves cleaning, including the chicken coop, the family home and a small Air-bnb. There are no regular shared meals or outings, which makes it harder to gain insight into Australian farm or family life. Transport is also very limited, and without your own car you are largely confined to the farm. Instead of meals, a food allowance of 60 AUD per week is provided; this often does not fully cover weekly groceries and needs to be actively followed up to ensure it is paid. In summary, the six weeks were interesting, and I met some truly lovely fellow volunteers. With them, I made some great memories and was able to travel a bit during my stay. However, this placement requires a high level of independence and resilience. Volunteers often need to be proactive and explicitly ask to join more enjoyable activities, and only then do opportunities arise to get to know the family better. While everyone is generally friendly and kind, volunteers should be aware that they remain quite separate from family life and are not treated as part of the household, which limits the cultural exchange, something I personally valued highly in my previous Workaway experiences. I would recommend this place to volunteers who are comfortable working independently and living in a remote setting. Having your own car, or arriving with a friend or partner, is probably a better option. Those seeking strong cultural exchange or a family-style experience may find this placement challenging and may be better suited elsewhere.

Staying at Danny's place was great! You can fill the day with taking care of the animals, cuddling the sweet dogs and cats, gardening, building, farming and relaxing. It is incredible what Danny accomplished in such a sort time. The place really looks amazing and makes you feel at peace straight away. Danny is great company. I enjoyed working together and having good conversations. And he and his father cooked lovely fresh meals, which I also enjoyed every time. Thank you so much for welcoming me at your beautiful farm and for your kindness and great spirit.

Giorgio is kind, calm, and gentle, but he also loves fun and has a strong sense of curiosity. When he first arrived, he seemed a little reserved, but little by little he opened up. The more time we spent together, the more we could truly feel our connection growing. Saying goodbye to him was honestly very hard—because we felt that if we had been able to spend more time together, we would have discovered even more of his wonderful personality. He is an architect who can take a project from design all the way to execution. We asked him to build a large shelf completely from scratch, and even within a short period of time, he created an amazing piece. He worked incredibly hard, even in the cold, and we are deeply grateful to him. He was very comfortable using tools, and his skills were a huge asset to our place. Beyond his work, he also shared delicious Italian meals with us, played joyfully with our daughter, and showed a level of hospitality that truly touched us. We are genuinely happy to have become friends with you. We are absolutely looking forward to the day we meet again somewhere in the world. Have a wonderful journey ahead. Thank you so much for coming and being part of our place!

Gill was absolutely fabulous, and she always knew what the animals needed the most without any prompts. She took on the tasks effortlessly and made a lasting impact on many animals' lives. We miss her very much and look forward to having her back. Team
