    Description

We are an open minded household of 4 ( 2 kids ( 5&9), 2 adults and a whippet (3rd child?)

As a family we are into music, nature/hiking, games, movies and food. Myself and the kids love sitting down to draw or paint.
The kids love to ride their bikes, go to park, and put on 'shows' they have made up. They also love skating and rollerblading in the house. ( they are loud so please be mindful if this is not for you.)

I have an energy/stamina limiting disability, and require regular rest throughout the day. My son is Austistic and has ADHD ( emotional regulation and general behavior can sometimes be a challenge). So things can get loud, busy and hectic very quickly. Either singularly or between the 2 kids.

We are happy to host a single or couple ( double bed is available( a child would be ok too as we have a trundle bed). To help support our household needs with gardening / tidying/ decluttering/ cleaning/occasional food prep/ house maintenance/painting. We would really appreciate it!
As it has all built up over the last few years due to my condition and is starting to become too much for my husband working full time and I to keep up with.

Daily basics are exhausting for myself and needing to manage my energy levels to care for the kids and household needs.

We live on the northern outskirts of Melbourne near the edge of the Yarra Valley, where bush walking is a short stroll away. Lots of parks, kangaroos and local wineries.
Melbourne City is easily accessible by public transport ( bus to train station is 2-3 mins walk ). Train to the city is approx 1hr trip, lots to see and do (botanic gardens, MCG /sports museum/AFL football/cricket ( seasonal) zoo, aquarium, Yarra river , immigration museum, shrine of remembrance etc ).
Cafes/ bottle shop / fast food, are around 15-30 mins walk. From our place or a 2 min bus ride.
Kinglake is a bus ride or short car trip away and Healesville sanctuary is around a 45 min drive.
    LGBTQIA+ friendly.

we are an English speaking Australian household with 2 kids aged 9 and 5.

    My kids both attend scouts.
My son is also involved in musical theater classes.
We see family a few times through the week, but don't socialise much on weekends due to trying to catch up with house stuff. A reason we have thought to try hosting. We never get caught up. And would love to get out as a family on the weekend and explore more. Depending on your must sees, joining us is also an option.

We are a family that consciously tries to reduce landfill, this has slid a bit with my health. we can share skills in, sewing, aquarium maintenance, art, gardening, low waste living, science/education information, hiking and Australian animal and plant information ( our front yard is mostly indigenous plants/some native).
My personal interests are piano, nature, karate and tai chi, cooking /recipes etc. Some DIY skills

We would love to learn about different cultures and customs, how families operate, and let the kids learn that there's more outside our isolated life at the moment due to my rest needs.

I have been able recently with the assistance to show guests our local area sites.

I am open to preferences on how you would like to work with food. We have found us cooking generally works well as ,ost workawayers do a few hours work then head into the city for the day exploring to be home by tea.
We also love our guests sharing a meal or 2 from their homeland too. Just advise me of the ingredients you need and we will get them for you.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

we are close to public transport ( 2 min walk to bus, to train station and bus interchange, supermarket and shops) .
There is bus up to Kinglake to explore the mountain. cafes with in walking distance, local wineries to drive to.
There is also options to get to the Vline ( country train/bus) services for longer rural day/ overnight trips.
The plenty gorge is 5 mins walk away ( bush to walk)
we are in the 'middle' of Victoria ( northern outskirts of Melbourne), so options to go exploring by hiring a camper van etc are also possibility. Its approx 4 hr drive east or west to get to either side of Victoria. Around 3hrs north to get to the Murray River.

I try to live a low waste lifestyle, but has been hard with acquiring an energy limiting disability. I just expect people to tidy up after themselves, be kind and courteous. Flexibility is a good thing to and someone whom can be autonomous in their day.

Please be mindful my kids are loud! but they are at school during the day and home is very much quieter.
I just ask for general language and behavior 'appropriateness ' and suitable movies etc when they are about is needed.
They can often be up early from 5 30am-generally after 6 am. It can be exhausting but they will include you in the fun and games, and share their creativity too.
