We had a nice stay there but first we planned on staying for 6 weeks, we left after 1. The environment is amazing, the people in the village are very friendly. The stay is more off-grid than we expected so it felt a bit uncomfortable at first. We were staying in a room that was seperated by only a curtain and the other couple could walk through our room. The food was sometimes questionable whether we should cook it or they will prepare it for us but the ingridients were provided. The main problem we faced was communication. This was our first volunteering experience as a couple and it almost made us quit volunteering completely. The communication just felt off. We thought we did everything good, we were even praised at the beginning but after a week we were told that we are not independent enough and we ask too much. This was quite out of the blue too us since if there was any problem they should have let us know before but instead they just told us that usually in this case they ask the volunteers to leave. On the other hand they offered us to stay but move to the jungle (even more off-grid) which we did not really want so we left. It left a bit of a bad aftertaste. All in all we liked it there but the communication should be more clear so no one feels dissapointed at the end.

I stayed with Tom and Katie and their two daughters for three months in early 2025. I enjoyed my stay immensely. The quantity of work expected was very reasonable, and I had plenty of spare time to play music, chat in the living room, and make friends in Galway. I spent most of my working time helping with their large garden/woodland. Tasks involved chopping wood, clearing brush, stacking wood, building a footbridge, organising a shed, and helping weed their vegetable plots. Tom and Katie are both very kind and interested people, and I became close to them over the course of my stay. Their two girls are also lovely and friendly, and fantastic violinists. Tom and Katie have both had varied and rich lives, which made for many engaged conversations. It is in large part thanks to their warmth and hospitality that I have chosen to stay in Galway and begin to build a life here. I remain in touch with the family, and I continue to visit them every couple of months to catch up.

Working with Joan was amazing, I found in him a great workaway host for sure but also a friend. I spent almost 2 months in Lou bissac meeting there wonderful people and working hard to bring new life in a little corner of this wonderful valley. In Saint Martin the Boubaux you will find all kind of people and you will enjoy their company because Joan is loved and well introduced in the community. The setting there is beautiful, you can go for hikes or visit the surroundings by bike, Joan knows really well the region and can suggest you many beautiful places to visit, he's also an experienced cyclist and can give you many tips on this too. The work with Joan can be hard and demanding but he is always keen to help you and to find good arrangements that work for everybody, the accommodation is good and you'll have whatever you need. Thank you Joan for the great time I had there and see you very soon! <3

It was great to host Ronja and Findus They are very kind and respectful helping hands for garden kitchen and other small works. They are interested to learn about things and it was a great exchange for us. It was great to taste the deliciously vegan meals who Ronja prepared for us and we still miss them. Thanks a lot to Ronja and Findus All the best for you Markus and Katia

We stayed 5 weeks in Hanoi (nearly 6 because it was hard to leave!) - and we loved it! The family is very welcoming, generous and sociable. We particularly spent time with Cherry who is an endearing, playful, curious and mindful child. Our main role involved encouraging English play and conversations. Through this experience, we gained valuable insights (and learned plenty of children’s songs along the way!), and had the opportunity to express our creativity while enjoying ourselves. Thanks to the host, we've had the chance to spend meaningful time with other Vietnamese families, gain a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture and savor many traditional dishes. During our free time, we also enjoyed exploring this vibrant city and discovering its various facets. We feel deeply grateful for this volunteering experience. Xin cảm ơn!

I had an amazing experience volunteering here! Elliot is one of the kindest, authentic and transparent people I have ever met in my life. This made the work particularly enjoyable and just led to overall comfort. He is great at communicating directly but in a gentle, understanding way. I feel that he always knew exactly what needed to be done and had no issues telling us so but always from a perspective of kindness, respect, understanding and empathy which are qualities Elliot embodies. Therefore, it was very easy to communicate and get the necessary tasks done. We were a group of 4 workawayers and usually had distributed task but always worked with at least one other person or everyone together. Elliot usually worked alongside with us and you could always check in with him, ask questions or communicate if any adjustment needs to be made. If this was the case, Elliot was always super understanding and didn’t hesitate to help or support us in whatever form necessary. I felt really comfortable when it came to asking for anything and could tell that the other workawayers had the same experience. We shared most meals together during which we got to connect and just have a fun time. Food was delicious btw! Next to meal times and random free times spent on the sunny deck in lovely company we also organized a bunch of game nights, a movie night and even karaoke! Everyone was really fun and Elliot also always engaged and contributed his gorgeous energy. It also needs to be mentioned that the environment that you will be working in is extremely serene and just beautiful. I enjoyed working and just hanging out at the property so much because it really gave me the calm and relaxing energy I was looking for with many chill hang out spots under the sun or one of the countless orange and lemon trees. Speaking of those, I ate like 10 oranges every day and every single one was delicious! I highly recommend you to work here, it will not disappoint and you will have a great time!

I really loved spending a few weeks at this very special place, located beautifully between Mount Etna and Catania. It was a pleasure to meet Dani and to support him a bit in creating this small world full of peace, creativity and appreciation for the uniqueness of every single being. There were different tasks like weeding, preparing and finalising the recently built yurt and just being a part of the creative flow of bulding, organising and also discovering new ideas and possibilities. Dani is such a gentle, loving and caring person who genuinely values you for who you are and is full of gratitude for the support he receives. Also he shared a lot of his precious knowledge about movement and health and I am grateful for all the exchanges of wisdom, beliefs and knowledge with him and the other beautiful souls around. I will definitely come back and am looking forward to seeing you again! Thank you so much for this special time. Much Love!

Paul was a great Workawayer to have around for a few days. He was willing and able to help me build my tiny house. His skills were obvious, and he was patient and respectful as we discussed our plan of action. Paul was glad to join our family activities and also took some time on his own to explore the area. Thanks Paul, good travels!

We spent two incredible weeks in this lush, green place 🌿✨ We highly recommend this WorkAway to anyone in the area! The setting is absolutely amazing, right in the middle of the rainforest, surrounded by nature and peace. The accommodation is really well designed: we each had our own bedroom, and there’s a large fully equipped kitchen where we could cook whatever we wanted, just like at home. The rhythm was perfect, with around 3 hours of work per day. We painted horse fences and took care of the animals… and what animals! 🐴🐄🐐🐓 4 horses, 5 cows, 3 goats, and around ten chickens, all super cute. They also adapted really well to the weather, and for organization, we were always informed the day before about the tasks to do, which was very convenient. It’s necessary to have a car to get around, but the location is ideal: only 25 minutes from shopping centers and the beach, which is really great. The team on site is very welcoming and always ready to help with the tasks. A huge thank you to Stéphanie, her husband, and her mother — they are wonderful people ❤️ We leave with amazing memories and a beautiful human experience. Thank you for everything!

Georg was an excellent Workawayer, and a great guest to have around. We had great conversations, and Georg was very respectful of our space. Georg's help building my tiny house was exceptional. He took initiative and taught me all kinds of techniques. I literally had to stop him from going on working as our long working day was finished. We've accomplished a lot in a short time. I highly recommend Georg to any Workaway host.

This was my first WorkAway experience and I couldn't have asked for a better one. I stayed for 3 months. Villi is incredibly awesome and a person everyone should know. I'm a gluten-free vegetarian and he accommodated my dietary restrictions perfectly! He's very intentional with the community he builds around his business and the house was always filled with so much positivity, love, joy, and light! It's was the most perfect experience I could've asked for and I'm incredibly sad to leave. I would definitely come back and I know that I've made a friend who feels like family now, for life.

Thank you, Jean, for this wonderful time with all its qualities that I was able to spend in your little castle. Thank you also for all the trust you placed in me, and thank you for being you; you have become a new role model for me. (That made THREE – wink) An elderly lady, as "crazy" as ever, you are an admirable person in every respect. I am so glad to have met you. Besides English lessons, help with translating my book, good conversations, bowling, tapas, meeting friends, and last but not least, our shared hobby of photography and travel. I thoroughly enjoyed our good conversations, and your unique sense of humour brought me joy. Besides my duties, primarily driving, cooking, and other little things, I was able to spend a lot of free time traveling through Andalusia and in my/your little apartment. The double cultural exchange with Spain and England was also enriching, and I hope we'll see each other again sometime.

What a fabulous way to start my vacation! I felt welcomed and at home from the very first moment. Heidi showed me her favorite beaches, where we went swimming and explored the local sea life. We also joined a fun trivia night, with her husband Roman and their friends.....we even won....of course without cheating. Heidi is an incredibly hardworking person—keeping up with her can be a challenge, but it’s always fun! We had many enjoyable conversations while working together, which made the whole experience even more special. I loved getting so much insights in Aussi day to daylife. Hope we can see each other again someday. Cheers Barbara Take care

Linn and Paul are a great couple. They worked really hard on our first project. We had to cut back our big trees that were hitting our house. They carted everything away (uphill) and sometimes in bad weather. We really appreciated their hard work and diligence. After that they were taught how to look after our hens, roosters and our cat. They showed real care for our animals. We were able to go away for a few days because we knew they were trustworthy, reliable, and had a genuine love of animals. We enjoyed their company very much. They are very sweet, polite and considerate to live with. We highly recommend them, especially for animal care, as I know that this is what they really love to do.

I feel extremely privileged to have had the pleasure of Brigitte’s help and joyful company in my home for the past two months. Her wealth of experience gained from her previous work and worldwide travel has enabled her to adapt to almost any situation. She is empathetic, incredibly versatile and fantastic fun.Our shared interest in photography and travel was also a real bonus . She proved herself to be an excellent chauffeur, wonderful cook, experienced gardener, cleaner, etc etc.She uses her initiative to notice what needs doing and just confidently gets on with the job. What more could one need? Brigitte likes warm weather, but despite a spell of unusually cooler temperatures, she remained unfailingly cheerful. She brought her own sunshine here with her warm smile, her positive outlook on life and her vivacious personality. I shall miss her in so many ways and hope we will remain in contact. There will always be a welcome here.Keep on dancing Brigitte!

Kosta was just with us a couple of days but was very willing to pitch in with our gardening / landscaping projects. He got along well with everyone and always volunteered to do the dishes after meals. We wish him well in his travels.

We shared two weeks with this family a few months ago and it was a unique experience during our journey - peaceful, fun, touching and enriching. Their home is a place to slow down, embrace simplicity, reflect and learn. Each day brought something new, shaped by the moment’s needs, with plenty to discover and to help out with. We loved cooking together, walking the dogs, gardening, playing games, crafting with bamboo and helping with social media. Above all, this was a human experience and getting to know them was heartwarming. Being with strangers is not always easy, but their natural warmth and the way they genuinely care about people put us at ease. Somlid generously shared with us his knowledge of bamboo, plants, and the art of living harmoniously with nature. Thanks to him, we did things we’ve never done before! Nina embodies kindness, bringing calm and inspiration to those around her. We could talk endlessly with her. Anou is creative, caring and sharp-minded, always ready for games or lively exchanges. Santi shows openness and boundless imagination, spontaneously connecting with people around him. Not to mention their lovely animals - we miss “der Kuno von Zürich” and all the others. We left with many memories and often think of them, even today we still say “Lumpä” to name a dishcloth. We recommend this Workaway to anyone looking for connection and community. Vielen Dank!!
