Having Isa stay with us for these past two weeks has been a wonderful gift and a true pleasure. From day one, she showed an incredible attitude, adapting perfectly to our family dynamics and bringing such positive energy. She helped us immensely with organizing the house, the garden, and painting, as well as restoring a wooden door and some iron railings. She also helped prepare meals. She always did everything with initiative and a smile. Besides being a super-committed, proactive, and hardworking person, what we truly take away is her warmth and the beautiful moments we shared. The house feels empty now that she's gone. As a volunteer, she's outstanding: always willing to contribute, with an impeccable attitude in everything she does. But what truly makes her unique is her radiance and how easily she wins people over. It has been a genuine pleasure to share each day with her. She has set the bar incredibly high. We wholeheartedly recommend her to any host looking for someone special. She's not just a Workaway participant anymore, we consider her a friend now. Thank you for everything, Isa. We wish you all the best and hope to see you again!

Our experience with Emma could not have been better. From the very first moment, when she welcomed us with her warm smile, we just knew we were about to start a great adventure. She is incredibly attentive, always making sure you have everything you need and encouraging you to enjoy your free time exploring the beautiful surroundings. Frankly, it would be hard to find a better host. She is the perfect example of what the Workaway spirit is all about. We have absolutely no complaints because she makes you feel right at home from day one and does everything she can to ensure you have an unforgettable stay. A wonderful detail was the way she organized the volunteering. Emma always had different tasks ready for the day and let us choose what to start with or how to divide the work. Thanks to this, days flew by because the work never felt boring. Also, we had the pleasure of working with Pat, who is a wonderful and lovely person and patiently explained how everything needed to be done. We truly enjoyed our working hours here. And last but not least, how could we forget little Truffle? Her morning greetings and her cute habit of hiding under our bed completely stole our hearts. This has been an absolutely perfect experience, and we feel incredibly happy and grateful to have had the chance to meet someone as amazing as Emma. We couldn't recommend her more!

Fay came to our place during one week and we had a great time together! She is very social, open minded, intelligent, hard working, eager to learn and respectful. We finished different jobs, especially in the garden and we are very grateful for her help. She is always welcome back! Thanks a lot Fay!

An experience I will never forget. From the moment I met Kerry and then Martin, the experience started. Made to feel completely at “home” from the very first moment until the day I left the home sparkling clean and tidy, I enjoyed working hard along side the incredible pair of hosts. We laughed and we drank wine and ate amazing food. What a wonderful month I had and all I can say is Thank you so much.

Staying with the family we experienced the perfect balance between city and rural living. They welcomed us into their way of living and made sure we were taken care of; offering us the car on off days and grabbing us weekly groceries. Otaki is a small beach town with a fun main street and a few shops. During work hours we did a variety of chores such as weeding and preparing the flower gardens for winter. Kelin was able to perform roof maintenance and Makenzie had the privilege of a few baby sits with the 2 youngest kids. We were the first to stay in the vat cottage. A newly renovated cowshed. We loved having our own space and cooking our own meals using the hot pad and Toaster oven. The shed did not have a toilet or running water. But plans were in the works to install both after we left. It was a great 2 weeks and we will miss this wonderful family, going on rides with Pheonix (the horse), a shared belief in Jesus, unlimited feijoas, visits to the creek, soccer practice, flower gardens, making compost and the company of the sweetest dog, Flo. We would absolutely recommend this work away for your time in the North Island!

This is an awesome hostel to do a Workaway at. It is a beautiful place with beautiful people. The work you do is relaxed and enjoyable. The roster is also organised well and you know when your shift is and what you are supposed to be doing. You have an amazing view of the ocean and epic sunsets. There is a pool table, guitar, hammocks, a bunch of great chill zones and some awesome activities to do in your spare time. Wifi is great around the whole hostel too. All the staff are very kind and make you feel a part of the family. You won't regret doing a work away here, it is a very special place. Gracias, Fio, Mercedes, Oscar and Josue.

Murat is a very special person to have around. Bright and what's mostly appreciated about Murat is his attitude. He is always positive, eager to learn, always asking if he can help. And what I adored most was when I came back from my shopping he would say "Welcome" to me. I loved what he did in the re organisation of rooms I asked him to do, cleaning, reorganising. Don't hesitate to have him around. It is a real pleasure.

We had a wonderful first Workaway experience with Yo and Piotr. From the beginning, they were kind, welcoming and very helpful with all the travel details. Their home and garden are truly beautiful and peaceful. The garden is cared for with so much love, and it was a pleasure to spend time there and help with gardening. The work was clear, fair and well organised , not too heavy, but meaningful and enjoyable. The accommodation was very comfortable, and we felt at home during our stay. The food was also lovely, and we really appreciated their care and hospitality. One of the most special parts of our stay was the cultural exchange. We had warm and interesting conversations about Iranian, Japanese, Polish and English culture, and we also enjoyed sharing Persian food together. Yo and Piotr are generous, thoughtful and inspiring hosts. We are very grateful for the beautiful days we spent with them and would definitely recommend this experience to other Workawayers. Nous avons adoré accueillir Jenna. Elle amène un calme, une tranquillité, une empathie incroyable et rare. Je n'ai pas de mots pour décrire la profondeur de son empathie. Elle a embrassé toutes les règles de la maison et a fait beaucoup. Elle a été curieuse, a travaillé son français tous les jours avec assiduité et joie, nous avons partagé beaucoup de conversations et de rires. Comment dire, c'était fluide. Quelle belle personne, quelle beau sens de l'aventure et de la découverte, quelle belle maturité ! Quelle chance auront les prochains hôtes !! Jenna est super fiable, elle amène présence, régularité et bonté.

600 miles on the bike and my body can take no more. I want to give up. I reach out to a few farms nearby and Heidi responds. We can stay and garden for a few days. I don't know what to expect. 20 more kilometers on the saddle. Martin and Heidi greet us as we walk into the Oasis, where their ecologically, in-tune with nature, home embraces us. The love, plus the luscious environment, we experienced here was exactly the motivation necessary to continue the voyage. Here you can experience a simpler and more fulfilling lifestyle with great humans and wonderful animals, including Wilma (who has more energy than she knows what to do with). Heidi provided the most nutritional, magnificent meals and the evenings were filled with great conversation, evening walks, swimming, ice cream and lifelong connection. Heidi and Martin genuinely love to share their knowledge on how to live a more self sufficient life and there is opportunity to learn so much. Too bad we only had a few days. There is a lifetime of learning. I would bike another 100,000 miles to come back again. Auf Wiedersehen until next Santa Claus!

Nuestra experiencia con Luca fue muy agradable. Es un ser noble y enseguida te sientes confiada con él. Él nos ayudó con las tareas del hogar, del jardín, y también mis perritas disfrutaron los paseos en su compañía. Es una persona calmada y servicial. Vuelve a casa cuando quieras Luca, aquí tienes a una familia, en este rincón de Cádiz.

After several months of traveling across Latin America by motorcycle, my stay with Mauricio and Jenny in Tulipe will definitely remain one of my favorite memories. The atmosphere is very family-oriented, and from the very beginning you feel welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness. It’s not just a place where you come to volunteer: you really share their daily life, their values and their way of living. The work is varied and genuinely interesting: forest preservation, taking care of animals, planting, farm life… Mauricio and Jenny take the time to explain what they do and why they do it, which makes the experience even more meaningful. I will also keep great memories of the shared meals, the peaceful mountain atmosphere, the evenings together (and the Machiavelo games!). Thank you again to all two of you for your kindness and generosity.

We stayed with Marga, Jaime, and their sweet little kids for two weeks and absolutely loved our time with them! From the very first moment, they made us feel like part of the family and always made sure we were having a wonderful time! They showed us the area, introduced us to typical food, and shared so much about their culture and everyday life, which we really loved :) We had so many great laughs together! Even though Ida and I don’t really speak or understand Spanish, communication was never a problem. They were always so patient, warm, and caring, and they constantly made an effort to include us and talk to us. You could truly feel how genuine, loving, and welcoming they are, and we always felt completely comfortable with them :) The kids are absolutely adorable as well! We had so much fun playing with them because all three are such sweet, funny, and happy kids :) We didn’t have to work a lot, they made sure we have free time A LOT :)) We really appreciated that, thank you so much! They even let us use their car to explore the island, which was amazing and incredibly generous! We honestly couldn’t have wished for better hosts and would recommend them to everyone without hesitation. Thank you so much for everything, we are so grateful for this experience and really hope to see you again someday!

It was such a good experience having Anna in our home. She has increadibly good work ethics and basicly did everything we wanted without us having to ask even once. We’d love to have her again. Can highly recommend!

Giorgia was a reliable and conscientious volunteer who approached every task she was given with care and commitment. Once directed, she followed through thoroughly and to a good standard.. I wish her well in her future travels.

Pablo and Noelia are exceptional! They work in complete harmony and everything they do is done in an immaculate and well executed manner. Their skills, personality and humour completely compliment one another and they are a joy to have around. A truly delightful couple. I thoroughly enjoyed having them to stay for 3 weeks and was astounded by their work ethic and how much they achieved during their stay. They worked diligently in the garden, sorted out technical and mechanical issues, and cooked absolutely delicious meals... Spanish omelette... yum! . On top of that my dog couldn't have been happier or more in love with them. We are lost without them but very much hope they will return. I simply couldn't send them with a higher recommendation ....Outstanding... you will be extremely fortunate, if you are lucky enough to have them to stay!

I stayed with Elsa Maria and her husband for the entire month of April. It was both theirs and my own first experience doing workway, but I think it went quite well. They are super nice and welcoming people. Invited me into their home like an old friend, and I was immediately a part of their daily routines and activities. They showed me their sheep and geese and Elsa Marias horse. They made me wonderful faroese meals. I learned a great deal about the faroese culture, both the past and present. I went to family gatherings with them and got to know their family. Especially their daughter and absolutely wonderful granddaughter. Elsa Maria is a tour guide. So, she drives around on the islands with tourists and shows them around. I got to go on these trips with her, when she didn’t have a full car. It was so fun and cool, and Elsa Maria is just so knowledgeable about the islands and their history. I got to see so many beautiful and breathtaking places on these trips. They also let me borrow their car when I wanted to go on my own adventures, no matter if it was a day trip to some place or just a quick stop down in Torshavn. The work I did for them was really easy and manageable. I vacuumed and cleaned the house, did some garden work, cleaned the inside of their guide buses, walked the dog and would occasionally help babysit their granddaughter. I lived in my own part of the house in the basement. I had my own bedroom, living room with a TV, full kitchen, bathroom, laundry room and own entrance to the house. But I was always welcome to sit with them upstairs during the day or evenings, and we did many activities together, including the chores. Overall, I had plenty of free time to do my own things. A lot of great walking paths in their neighborhood and the buses in Torshavn municipality are free, so it’s super easy to get around. Only thing to stop you is maybe the weather, but that’s just a part of the experience. Really grateful for the opportunity to live on the Faroe Islands, I loved every second of it, and I will definitely be back. Tak Elsa Maria og Jan, vi ses forhåbentlig snart igen:)

This was my first Workaway experience, and honestly it exceeded my expectations in many ways. Robert and Angel made me feel welcomed from the beginning and truly included me in their daily life and routines in Arnhem. The experience felt very authentic and real. I had the opportunity to practice my English every day, learn about Dutch culture, spend time with locals, and experience a different lifestyle outside of tourism. Robert is very intelligent, organized, and open to conversations about technology, culture, travel, and life in general, which made the cultural exchange very enriching for me. One thing I really appreciated is that Robert also shared local experiences with me beyond the volunteering itself. For example, he invited me to visit the Palace of Justice in Arnhem, which was very interesting and gave me the feeling of experiencing the city from a more local perspective instead of only as a tourist. The location of their home is also excellent. They live in a beautiful and calm area of Arnhem, very close to the city center and also close to the train station, which can easily be reached walking in around five minutes. This made it very easy to explore Arnhem and also travel to other important cities in the Netherlands. One of my favorite things was the incredible park near their house. I saw some of the most beautiful sunsets of my life there. The work itself was mainly related to gardening, organizing tools, helping around the house, and different practical tasks. I think it is important to mention that the volunteering can be physically demanding, especially on some days with outdoor work, so future volunteers should come prepared for that and with a good attitude toward manual tasks. At the same time, I also felt that communication was possible. When I mentioned I was tired, the following days became much more relaxed and balanced, which I appreciated a lot. I also really appreciated having a farewell dinner during the last days of my stay. It was a very kind gesture and honestly a very nice surprise for me. Some days were more intense than others, but overall I never felt ignored or treated badly. I think this experience taught me a lot, not only about volunteering, but also about myself, my limits, and the kind of cultural exchange I enjoy the most. I’m grateful that my first Workaway experience happened with them, and I would definitely recommend this host to people who are looking for a real cultural exchange experience, are open-minded, adaptable, and comfortable helping with practical and sometimes physical work. Thank you Robert and Angel for welcoming me into your home and for being part of the beginning of this journey around the world.

A magical place—I’ve never found a spot so free from city stress, surrounded by nature, and filled with such incredible energy! I’d also like to thank Mati and Moon for their generosity and positive vibes. Thank you for teaching me so much and making this amazing time possible! I stayed for two months, and they were the most exciting I’ve ever experienced. Thank you, and see you on the next adventure!
