Laura and Max are one of the loveliest, most proactive, and happiest couples you could ever meet. We are so grateful to have had them here with us over the last few weeks.
They treated everyone with kindness and positivity, and everybody around was genuinely happy to have them with us. They were also incredibly efficient workers, bringing a lot of organization and structure to areas where we were lacking. They helped us so many times by going far beyond their responsibilities.
In fact, we often had to tell them to stop taking care of things because they were always looking for ways to help! All the physical work was completed efficiently and to a high standard, and they paid close attention to every detail to make sure everything ran smoothly and naturally.
We never had to remind them about anything. They were always focused during work hours, highly responsible, and extremely trustworthy.
And Max developed some truly impressive machete skills while he was here! 😄
We will miss you both very much. Thank you for everything, and we wish you many more amazing adventures ahead. Keep enjoying life and having fun, guys!

Jim and George were absolutely amazing! They helped us in every way possible. They are both very calm, friendly, and easy to get along with, which is especially important in our place since there is a lot of customer interaction and, in the end, it feels like a small community.
They consistently went above and beyond their responsibilities, and we truly loved having them here with us. They are the kind of people who naturally connect with the vibe of the place wherever they go.
Both are highly skilled with manual work, very proactive, and always willing to help. We rarely had to tell them what needed to be done because they were always one step ahead, identifying what was needed and taking initiative. They are also extremely trustworthy! 🙂
We highly recommend them to any host and would be happy to welcome them back anytime.
We are so grateful for all their help, and we wish you both all the best, guys!

Maja and Christian are so great. They always brought me along for their adventures and took care of me...they made fresh, quality meals from the garden, taught and played board/card games with me, gave clear instructions about given job tasks, and told me great stories. I especially appreciated our time cycling to local spots and swimming in the rhine together.
They went above and beyond as they helped me with train tickets, bought me medicine when I got sick, showed me unforgettable sights, allowed me to use one of their bikes to explore, let me use take their tent to go to Interlaken, took me to nature club, got me a Stork with my name (she is flying to Kenya soon!) and many others great things. They were very giving and gave me tasks that I enjoyed. Their two cats, frog, and 5 guinea pigs were so cute. There were always cute animals running around. They taught me about growing my own produce and how to make bread. I learned a lot. I look back fondly on my time with Maja and Christian, even if it was just 10 days. Be prepared to cycle and swim a lot, you will absolutely love this workaway experience!

In March, during my cycling trip through New Zealand, I stopped for two weeks at Brett's house, and it was a fantastic experience. The house is on a hill near Akaroa with incredible views. The work was varied: chopping wood, pruning olive trees and vines, and there was plenty of time for excursions in the surrounding area. I shared the house with Philippe another Workawayer, and we had a lovely single room. The food was very good, especially when Brett's partner cooked. Brett is very hardworking, friendly, cultured, and speaks several languages fluently. I still remember the delicious pavlova and a wonderful gift that came from the sky: an aurora australis! Marvelous! Thank you, Brett.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for Filipa and Laurence. They are both kind, respectful, and exceptionally dedicated educators. What impresses me most is their commitment to preparing thoughtful lesson plans for every class and their ability to adapt effortlessly when unexpected materials or requests arise.
They have a natural talent for teaching children, making learning both engaging and enjoyable. Their patience, professionalism, and genuine passion for education create a warm and positive atmosphere where children feel comfortable and motivated to learn.
I would also like to commend their maturity and reliability. As I regularly travel to Bangkok to accompany my father to hospital appointments, I have entrusted them with staying at my home. They have always been responsible, considerate, and completely trustworthy, giving me great peace of mind.
Filipa and Laurence are truly wonderful individuals and outstanding educators. I am deeply grateful for their flexibility, dedication, and the positive impact they have made on the children.
Thank you so much. Wish you all the best :)

Dee and Robert are lovely people; they are very accommodating and generous. They know a lot of people on the island, both locals and expats, which allowed us a good look in everyday Maltese life. We expected Malta to appeal to us, but thanks to Dee and Robert we had such a wonderful time there that we even consider moving there one day.
The work was diverse, sometimes intense, sometimes relaxed; we did a little bit of everything, depending on what Dee & Robert needed help with. We arrived early in March and had planned on staying until the end of the month, but we ended up staying more than three months - we guess that says enough.

Hosting Zhen was a joy and a genuinely enriching experience. From the outset she felt like family, fitting in seamlessly, contributing her own generosity and openness of spirit, and approaching every day and every task with immense thoughtfulness and care. She was very empathetic and often anticipated what would be most helpful to us, while also sharing her own ideas, creativity and sense of fun. She was always interested and interesting, and in our long chats (her language skills are truly impressive) we learned a lot about life in China, often while enjoying delicious Sichuan cuisine. We valued Zhen's perceptive and intelligent approach (not to mention her skill at throwing sticks for Topsy the dog) and we only wish she could have stayed longer. Any Workaway host would be lucky to have her, but we hope that one day soon she'll come back to the mill!

Rebecca was one of the best volunteers we have ever had. From day one, she showed an outstanding attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine willingness to help with any task that was needed. Her communication skills were excellent, making it easy for her to connect with both the team and our guests. She was always positive, friendly, and available to support others whenever needed. Her reliability, energy, and great vibe made a lasting impact on our hostel, surf school, and community.

We were truly grateful to host Bahareh and Eloise on our farm for the past two weeks. From the very beginning, they brought a warm, positive energy that blended beautifully with our family and the local environment.
During their stay, they showed a sincere interest in our way of life—learning about traditional farming, engaging with daily activities, and connecting respectfully with the community. Their willingness to help, adaptability, and genuine curiosity made a meaningful difference in our daily work.
What stood out most was their open heart and humble attitude. Whether it was working in the garden, sharing meals, or simply having conversations, they contributed not only through their efforts but also through their presence. It felt less like hosting a volunteer and more like welcoming a friend into our home.
We deeply appreciate the time, care, and positivity they shared with us. They are always welcome back, and we wish them all the best in their journey ahead.

We would like this review to serve as constructive feedback for the project, while also helping future Workawayers set realistic expectations based on our experience.
First of all, Dhurba and his family are kind, welcoming people who care about your well-being, which we really appreciated. The surroundings are also beautiful: the project is located in a peaceful rural area surrounded by nature, and the Namobuddha Monastery can be reached on foot in about an hour and fifteen minutes.
However, there were some aspects that made our stay more difficult than we had expected. Our original intention was to stay for one or two weeks, but we decided to leave on the third day.
The main issue for us was the overall standard of cleanliness and hygiene. We felt that many areas of the property would benefit from more attention and maintenance. Our room was perhaps the clearest example: it had a very strong smell of dampness, there was visible mold, and sleeping there was very very uncomfortable. The bathroom was also extremely dirty when we arrived, making it difficult to use comfortably.
While we understand that this is a rural family home and not a hotel, we believe that a basic standard of cleanliness is important, especially for volunteers planning to stay for an extended period.
We also understand and respect the daily contribution of $7 per person to help cover food expenses. However, this created certain expectations regarding the quality and variety of the meals provided. In our experience, the meals consisted almost exclusively of rice accompanied by a vegetable and potato curry or sauce. We are frequent travelers and fully understand that this type of food is a staple in many local households, so this is not a criticism of the local cuisine itself. We mention it because, given the additional daily contribution, we expected the food to reflect that cost a little more in terms of variety, nutrition, or ingredients.
We hope this feedback is received in the constructive spirit in which it is intended. We believe the project has potential, and we simply want to share our honest experience so that both the hosts and future volunteers can benefit from it.

I had a wonderful time during my stay In Cologne. Tanja and Mattes were very friendly and gave me plenty of time to explore the city. The food we prepared was great. I also enjoyed hearing stories how they both met and moved to Cologne to start another business together. Their son was very adventurous and enjoyed doing a lot of fun activities with his friends as well. We had many German and English exchanges. I would enjoy working for them again in the near future. I am truly grateful for my time with this wonderful family and hope many more can experience Cologne the way I did.

Zoe arrived just as we arrived home from a long holiday - so the grass and weeds were extremely high. In the time Zoe stayed, the transformation was fantastic. Zoe "attacked" the weeds with enthusiasm, working in rain, wind, sunshine, heat - nothing stopped her!
Many great evening discussions too and shared cooking/eating times!
We were amazed how well the property was brought back to being a garden and orchard. Thank you for the great effort and great friendship.

Staying with Patrick this June was a true pleasure and my two weeks there were absolutely Magnificent.
Patrick is not only a great host, he is also interesting, kind, generous, warm-hearted and respectful. He is very competent and has many other great qualities and skills.
He’s an all-round talent and shared many skills with me.
Apart from that he is one of the best chefs and his meals are always delicious. Patrick emphasizes how important it is to eat and buy regional organic food and products.
A lot of what comes to the table grows in his big wonderful garden. He grows many vegetables and fruits. There are also chicken and ducks.
My work was mostly in the garden: weeding the beds, putting plants in the soil, collecting berries or sanding a table for the guest room i.e.
A couple of times we also collected wood crisps at a nearby wood factory or seaweed at the sea which we put in his little trailer to later spread out in the beds as organic fertilizer.
Patrick is a hands-on person and either we worked on something together or parallel to each other.
Apart from spending time and working in his lovely house or garden we often made excursions to the surroundings: visiting the seaside, smaller and bigger villages, local markets or the association where he volunteers. One time we went with his friends to an event on a big organic farm or a concert at the association. Thank you for sharing all of that with me, dear Patrick.
Every day was different and we made the work also a bit dependent on the weather.
I really enjoyed Patrick’s company and had a marvelous time at his place and in the region.
So to anyone who is interested in cooking and gardening and sustainability i can highly recommend staying with Patrick.
I say Merci and thank you for your great hospitality, dear Patrick.
It was wonderful and interesting and inspiring and I hope to be back next year.

Julie came to our place just as we arrived home from a long holiday so the garden was full of very tall weeds! Julie "attacked" the vegetable garden with enthusiasm and turned to area from a forest of weeds into organised fertilised raised beds, including new vegetable plants! Many other jobs completed too - working outside, regardless of the weather - it kept changing!
thanks for a great help, and we are starting to enjoy the benefits of the vegetables!

We had the pleasure of hosting Jessi and Max for two weeks, and their contribution to the project was truly outstanding.
Jessi brought incredible energy and dedication to the gardening activities. She was always enthusiastic, hardworking, and eager to help, leaving a visible positive impact on the farm.
Max played a key role in creating new trails around the property, improving access and enhancing the overall experience for visitors. Beyond his practical work, he shared his expertise in marketing and helped us develop and refine the business model of the project, providing valuable insights that will benefit us for a long time.
Together, Jessi and Max were friendly, reliable, proactive, and a joy to have around. We are grateful for everything they contributed and would highly recommend them to any future host. We wish them all the best in their future adventures!

I stayed there for two weeks and, despite the village losing electricity during my stay, it was the perfect place to enjoy tranquility, relax, watch birds, draw, and swim in the lake.
Jairo is a knowledgeable person who can tell you a lot about nature and spirituality. He also taught me a lot about drawing. He always does his best to make his guests feel comfortable and welcome.
The work can vary depending on the current needs of the finca. During my stay, I helped dismantle an old roof and build a new one. Jairo is very communicative and explained the work clearly before my arrival, so there were no surprises when I got there.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would definitely recommend!
