    Description

Our place is a living, growing family dream — and we’d love for you to be part of it.
Currently looking for two Eco Admin workawayers to help with the day-to-day organisation of our project — a mix of light administrative tasks, helping with different efforts on the farm, and caring for our friendly pets (3 beagles, 1 cat and 2 chickens). You’ll help keep our small community running efficiently while enjoying life in a peaceful, nature-rich environment.
We are an organic place where you can live with a zero carbon footprint — a place created to care for nature, animals, and plants.
Nestled deep in the tropical Costa Rican cloud rainforest, our off-grid farm is on the road to becoming self-sufficient and fully disconnected from the modern world 🌎. The nearest town is 7 km away (Sardinal). This is an isolated place, and all our energy comes from the sun and the wind. Our dream is to nurture and grow a vast forest, giving back to the land that sustains us.
We’re a Costa Rican family carrying forward a local ecological project that supports a genuine movement in favour of nature 🌿. My parents have lived in this area for over 50 years, and here, everyone is either a friend or family.
We only accept one volunteer/couple of volunteers at a time. If you meet the qualifications, please write to me ASAP and include all the reasons you have to apply along with your availability!

    🌿What You’ll Do
-🌱 Work on the organic and regenerative farm
-Help with planting, composting, soil regeneration, natural fertilisation, and general farm care using sustainable practices.
-Support small construction or improvement projects using natural, recycled, or low-impact materials.
-Experience conscious water and energy use, waste reduction, and low-impact living while surrounded by nature.
-Care for our lovely pets (feeding, cuddles, walks, and making sure they’re happy and safe)
-After every 2 days of volunteering, you have 1 free day to explore, rest, or enjoy nature 🌄. It´s possible to take the days off together and visit other sites around.

    🧡 We’re Looking For

-Independent, responsible, friendly, and organised person, preferably a couple of volunteers.
-Love for animals, plants, and nature. Committed to the conscious and responsible use of resources.
-Good communication skills, proactivity, and a strong work ethic.
-Adaptable to off-grid, eco-living environments, respecting the principles of living sustainably in a remote mountain.
    -Intermediate level of Spanish/English (interview)

    🌻 What You’ll Gain

-First-hand experience in eco-project administration in a rural and isolated solar farm in Costa Rica. Live as a local.
-At least one week of living sustainably on a 100% solar-powered farm. You'll have a beautiful private cabin (The Office) and an incredible view (Gulf of Nicoya, Central Pacific Coast).
-Learning about our meliponary and stingless local bees and the importance of pollinators.
-Learning about off-grid systems, permaculture, animals, plants, and local wisdom.
-Being introduced to all our local friends to experience life as a local ;)
-After 5 days, you have 2 free days to relax or explore nearby natural spots like the river or go to buy cheese and eggs with our neighbours who live 3 km away ;)
-The chance to contribute to a real regenerative local community project.

    📡 Internet
    We have Starlink satellite internet.
Because this is a luxury on an off-grid farm:
Access is available for $1 per device per day.

Updated fruits list available (August-October period):
    -Mangoes
    -Nances
    -Coconuts
    -Guavas
    -Plantains
    -Sugar cane

    📋 What Else:

I am a university professor and spend part of each week working in the city. Because of this, I'm looking for volunteers who are comfortable working independently, taking initiative, and managing their responsibilities without requiring my constant physical presence.
As a volunteer, you'll always receive clear instructions, defined responsibilities, and specific goals, so you'll know exactly what is expected of you.
At the beginning of your stay, I will provide a thorough orientation and hands-on training, ensuring you are familiar with the property, the projects, and all the tools and resources you'll need. Throughout your stay, I'll remain available for guidance, questions, and support whenever needed.
Since I divide my time between the university and the farm, I am especially looking for a responsible couple who can serve as Eco-Admins—helping care for the property, welcoming guests, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day operation of the project while enjoying the unique experience of living 100% off-grid in Costa Rica.

    Help

Volunteers participate in gardening, farming, agriculture, cleaning, and general farm maintenance. This is a hands-on experience focused on practical, manual work and learning by doing.

    🛠 7:00–9:00 – Morning project
    🌿 Free time
    🛠 14:00–16:00 – Afternoon project
    🌅 Sunset / relax / cooking dinner

Clear instructions and specific tasks will always be provided for every activity, ensuring you understand what to do and how to do it safely and efficiently.
We especially welcome volunteers who are comfortable and have experience using manual farm tools, including:
-Shovel and spade, hoe and rake, wheelbarrow, garden scissors and pruning shears, hand saw and hedge trimmer, watering cans and irrigation hoses, mowing machine or brush cutter, pitchfork, manual weed remover, etc.

    Accommodation

The selected couple will be hosted in our beautiful, handmade cabin for volunteers. You have the opportunity to stay for free in exchange for some hours of collaboration. We will provide free accommodation and access to all our facilities (kitchen, dry bathroom, meliponary, observatory and outdoor shower during the winter season).
This tiny house, called “La Office,” is powered by a handcrafted solar system that provides clean energy to charge your phone and other USB devices (USB-A and USB-C fast-charge ports available now). Inside and outside, you’ll find LED lighting, landscape lighting, a cosy wood-fired kitchen (with all accessories to cook), and a rainwater collection system that partially supplies water — all designed for sustainable living.
Now, I included a new Wi-Fi repeater for a better coverage regarding internet. For logistical reasons, we are including only complimentary basic raw food in this offering (Rice, beans, local coffee, oil, bananas, spices, oats, salt, sugar). You are responsible for cooking all your meals with your own special touch and bringing your own flavours to life :).
You can also look for seasonal tropical fruits/veg (coconuts, bananas, sugar cane, guavas, mangoes, coffee, yucca and/or avocados) available to volunteers on the farm or in the surroundings.
You´ll have a full kitchen with a wood-burning or gas stove and an area to prepare your meals, along with an open deck for yoga, meditation, or just enjoying the beautiful view from the hammock available.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is no running water; we have only water collection systems and natural springs 800 m from home. We only admit people with a strong sense of responsibility regarding this resource. I also provide 20 litres of drinkable water free of charge at the beginning.
It is more than a farm — it is a family dream and an evolving ecological project.
If you want to experience simple living, renewable energy, and a deep connection with nature, this could be a wonderful place for you.

We look forward to meeting people who want to learn, contribute, and share this journey with us.

    Pura vida 🌿
