    Description

Living off-grid in a self-built cabin in the west of Ireland. We (myself and my husband) live quite remote, run our place comfortably on solar panels and wood fuel for heating. We do have running water and WiFi!
Our life style is a bit simplistic, but not entirely rustic. We try to find a healthy compromise between a modern and sustainable lifestyle. Keeping a couple of dairy goats and chickens and maintaining a veg patch keeps us quite busy. Our two crazy yet lovable terriers also keep us on our toes.
The area we live in is secluded but not too cut off from amenities. Just the perfect combination of quiet countryside with friendly neighbours and small town basics 10 min (drive) away.
Everything we produce here is for our own consumption only. We don't run a business and are very small-scale.

We are based within reasonable driving distant to several well-known cultural and natural attractions in the west of Ireland.
We are bordering right onto a small ancient woodland and the area is lovely and quiet.
You can get a taste of the off-grid lifestyle while not sacrifising too many modern conveniences.

We are looking for someone who has experience handling and milking dairy goats and is happy to live without a TV for a while 😉 (But we do have reliable internet!)
Our laying hens require very little work but need daily checking in.
    Gardening experience is essential.
During the colder months we require helpers to know how to safely manage a wood burning stove.
Someone who enjoys the outdoors and going for walks with two funny puppers is essential. Most of all, a great experience in giving cuddles to fluffy creatures is a Must!

While we welcome people to stay with us while we are around, we are mainly looking for reliable people to look after the animals and the cabin while we are away.
We would of course offer a training period before leaving anyone in charge here.
Unless you don't mind your own company, a couple (or friends) are probably best suited to mind the place while we are away. It's quite remote here and especially during the winter months, can get a bit quiet. However, if you don't mind spending some nice quiet time by yourself, everyone is welcome 😊

    Accommodation

Off-grid cabin with modern interior and cooking facilities and running water. Compost toilet and outdoor shower (with hot water).
No fridge or freezer or washing machine (but there is opportunity to do laundry locally). No TV but plenty of reliable WiFi.
All food will be provided while staying with us.
The cabin is our own home. So you will be sharing the space with the resident couple.
If you are staying here while we are away, of course you'll have the cabin to yourself.

    What else ...

Within walking and cycling distance are beautiful woodlands to discover and lakes and rivers for swimming during the summer months.
Natural areas of interest such as the Burren National Park, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Wild Atlantic way are part of our local attractions.
Anyone interested in horse riding could hop on our neighbours' horses on the weekend.

I work from home myself. Our internet connection is via a router (no broadband or fibre) but is stable enough for online work. The actual space is a bit a limited. If you require a private, "professional" office space, we have a very small room we call "the office". But it gets a bit chilly during the winter and only has a standing desk.
