Anouk came to our shelter for 3 weeks and fitted in so well to our team. Despite having no previous experience in a shelter Anouk was a natural around the dogs and cats and brought a lovely, heard working ethos. She is a quick learner and uses her initiative, happy to do menial but necessary chores such as cleaning and washing up. She also walked the dogs, helped with training and fostered a dog in the volunteer accommodation as well as helping with outreach work. This is our first workaway experience and was such a positive experience for us, we would highly recommend Anouk as a volunteer.

Ellen volunteered with us teaching English, and it was a pleasure to have her as part of our team. She was organized, reliable, and built great relationships with her students. She was also very supportive of the other volunteers and always willing to help when needed. We would happily recommend her to other projects!

Simon can and helped us out really last minute. He has excellent skills in chain sawing and welding which were just what we needed. He's also an fine artist and black smith. He took on all the work we needed doing, hapily. He is great fun, energetic and it felt like he was an old friend of ours. He is welcome back anytime!

Baris & Edie were absolutely amazing! They helped us in so many ways during their stay. From planting trees to supporting our restaurant construction, and even helping with cleaning, they were always ready to jump in. What we appreciated most was that they were constantly asking how they could help. Such a lovely, hardworking couple with beautiful energy. We truly wish them all the best and would welcome them back anytime.

If we somehow could have kept Jeanne and Julien here, we would have :-D We spent two wonderful weeks together, worked really well together and enjoyed many nice moments and conversations. Both of them were very helpful, worked independently and skillfully. Always ready to give us a hand with everything ranging from milking, repairing fences and watching the kids. Thank you again, we miss you and hope to see you again. All the best <3

I decided to host Rebecca to finish one of my 'to-be-done' projects. I simply told her what I needed, and she gave it her all. The output was above and beyond my expectations, thanks to her dedication and creativity. Her background in architecture could be incredibly useful for your project. Rebecca is very responsible and mature, which saved me so much time in monitoring my team. The house was peaceful and quiet while she was here. She is kind, polite, and flexible (perhaps thanks to her yoga practice! ;P)

An immersive experience in Istanbul. It is full of very interesting, intelligent and kind people from all walks of life. I felt that I met real Turkish culture and hospitality, as everyone was so lovely, and it was a very educational experience to learn from all these different perspectives. Cansu and Evin are wonderful managers, being supportive and sweet, and the accomodation was really nice, and like a home in the winter cold. I learnt so much from everyone in Istanbul and all the other volunteers, who made me feel at home and who are now friends for life. Thanks Istanbul and team 🌞

Thank you for being so incredibly warm and welcoming. We stayed with Ritney, Luch and their gorgeous boys for just over a month and had a very special time. We had the opportunity to work on the construction of an outdoor oven, which was an extremely rewarding project. Ritney and Luch were such amazing, collaborative and supportive hosts. Our stay was perfectly balanced between building the oven, swimming at the beach, hanging out with the kids and combing the neighbouring streets for fallen mangos with lots of free time to ourselves in between. The family are running the Workaway in the best way Workaways can be run. After 6 months of travel it felt like a home away home. We are so grateful to have felt this and hope to return again someday. And please if the boys ever find themselves in the southern hemisphere along their journeys we would absolutely love to host them. Liam & Poppy

I highly recommend this Workaway. Rachel was a superb host. She was really easy to communicate with and she made a lot of effort to make sure we had everything we needed to carry out our duties, be comfortable and enjoy our stay. The house is lovely, on a quiet beach 4km away from the busy town. Thanks Rachel x

Shirin set me up with one of her friends in JB to do some gardening work because her rooms were occupied. It was overall a good experience. Shirin also invited me over to lunch and dinner at her neighbor's place for Chinese New Year. That was really nice of her. Thank you Shirin

Kilian arrived right in the middle of a particularly intense “winter” front and, somehow, managed to wake up drier than me every single day, despite the small detail that I was sleeping in the main cabin while he was out in the bushes, perfectly comfortable in his hammock. He has a very efficient way of looking at problems and great skills for bringing half-formed ideas down to earth. He built the kitchen dryer cabinet within a few days of me casually mentioning the idea while washing the dishes. All of this while also helping fix the water system multiple times after rain floods and working on the repellent screens on the second floor to prevent rainwater from sneaking into the house. I’m very grateful for the time he spent here and for his willingness to step in and help, especially during a rather chaotic time. Killian was a thoughtful, proactive, and easygoing guest and we’d welcome him back home without thinking twice. Thank you Kilian! :)

Thank you Alex and Chris We loved having you come and help with the very boring job of raking up all those millions. of leaves. You did it with so much enthusiasm. Such ann important job as we are in a fire risk area. Enjoyed your company and our chats. I would recommend you to any host. Enjoy your travels. Love . Liz , Chris , Ginger and the ducks

Rebecca really helped us in painting our wall inside the volunteer centre. She is skilled and a good team player. She shared her painting skills with our team and the children visit our centre. She also helped us in raising some funds to continue our empowerment programmes. We are so happy to host her. See you again!

This Workaway was a great experience. I was surprised by how close I felt with Dani and Fernando after just three days. They’re great company, great fun and both very passionate about their jobs. I felt I learnt a lot about teaching from watching Fernando in his classes. He has a great connection with his students and the way he engages with them is inspiring. I was expected to work for approximately 3 hours per day. 1.5 hours for planning my class and the other 1.5 delivering the class. I was responsible for the C1 class which had two students who are great company and easy to get along with. The rest of the students are equally as fun and you can hang out with them in between lessons. It also has partnerships with other schools and so you may have opportunities to work in a more traditional school environment with younger ages. Overall, my experience was fantastic and I hope to return in the future. Missing my friends already!

I was fortunate enough to volunteer with this amazing organization, and it was truly a special experience. Kingugu Village is one of a kind, filled with incredibly warm and welcoming people. Although I could only stay for one week due to a tight schedule, Francis was very understanding and flexible with my stay, which I really appreciated. From day one, the children made me feel completely at home. They are so adorable and loving, and the teachers are just as kind and supportive. During my time there, I mainly helped the teachers and spent time playing with the children. I learned a lot about how the organization operates, and it was clear that nothing comes easily. The experience was truly eye-opening for me. Thanks to Francis and everyone involved in the organization, these children have hope and a brighter future ahead. What can I say about Francis? He is one of the most genuine people I have ever met, always smiling, incredibly kind, and truly dedicated. He also has a lovely family who made me feel very welcome. I already miss everyone so much especially Hannah and Daryas! I could go on forever, but I’ll stop here before this gets too long😄 I highly recommend this organization. Every little bit of help truly makes a difference💕

My boyfriend and I had the most unforgettable Workaway experience with Teresa and Sven in the south of Italy! We are still talking about all the lovely memories we made and the laughs we shared. We felt truly welcomed from the moment we arrived until the day we left. There, we met another Polish couple around our age and quickly became friends. We were happy to offer our skills and help Teresa and Sven as they moved into their new apartment. Each day brought a new task, which kept things exciting and rewarding, especially as we could see the progress unfolding before our eyes. It was a perfect balance between work and free time. During our free time, Teresa and Sven recommended nearby places for us to explore and visit on day trips. Teresa always prepared the most delicious meals, usually amazing Italian or Polish dishes. Even when we were away for the day, they generously gave us some lunch money so we could enjoy pizza and have a nice meal together. The accommodation was perfect. We had our own room and private bathroom in the new apartment. We truly hope to see Teresa and Sven again in the future and to have more positive Workaway experiences like the one we had at their place. Grazie mille, Teresa and Sven ! Ciao! 🇮🇹 -Kristiina & Cam (Canada & France)
