It was a wonderful experience; I stayed with Barbara for almost two months. The house is in a unique location with a magnificent view and many interesting hiking trails. It's a peaceful place, perfect for those seeking tranquility. There are many cats who will be happy to welcome you, especially Slash, who is a very affectionate cat. There are also many clever chickens and a rather special ram. Barbara is very talented in the kitchen; she prepares many delicious, entirely homemade meals that reflect Italian culinary culture. I did a lot during my two-month stay: building a woodshed, a greenhouse for plants, maintaining the chicken coop and the fence, chopping wood for the fireplace, planting a new vegetable garden, repairing the door of the second chicken coop, and house-sitting. I had many interesting adventures, and I'm very happy with this experience. Barbara was a great help. Highly recommended.

My first Workaway with Anna and her family was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend them to everyone! Banyoles is such a beautiful town. I loved cycling around the lake by myself, and the scenery was so peaceful and refreshing. But what I loved even more was the time I spent with the family. They took me to their relatives' houses on the weekend, and it really made me feel like I was a real part of their family, not just a guest. Every night, we watched movies or TV series together, which was such a cozy and fun routine. We also shared delicious food and drinks, and I was so happy that they were interested in learning about Japanese culture and language. They are a very energetic family who loves music and sports, and their passion for life is wonderful! I’m already looking forward to welcoming them to Japan this summer. If you want to experience the real Catalan lifestyle with a warm-hearted family, this is the perfect place. ¡Muchísimas gracias por todo!

Lorea and Bastien are incredibly kind, lovely guests and beyond capable of high quality tasks. We have been hosting volunteers for 10 years, and they were both undoubtedly the most skilled help we have ever had. They built beautiful concrete countertops and wooden shelving and a small deck in 2 weeks! It couldn't be done so efficiently by an American professional. We are so incredibly grateful for their dedication and decision to work with us. If they decide to travel and volunteer again, may the reader of this be so lucky to host them! And their English was fantastic :)

James was a very strong and capable workaway guest! He benefited from structured labor tasks and was willing to do all of the rebar & gravel work that is less glamorous. He was great company, a deep thinker, and I hope your next travels are fruitful!

I did just love Maya and Ruby, id was so much fun to work with them. They had absolutely no problem to get there hands and clothe dirty. It was all en all a very beautiful to have them here. They haven't been very hands on, on the project they also have been cocking beautiful food for us. We had also great time together after work at the beach and also on Christmas and New Year. I spent six months with Anke, Geert, and their three kids, and I felt like I was living in a supportive shared household. My main tasks were cooking, groceries, cleaning and supporting them with babysitting. Cleaning includes the kitchen area after cooking or meal-prepping, vacuum clean the floor in the living room and kitchen, clean the table after dinner, load/empty the dishwasher etc. When it came to cooking, I prepared meals from Monday to Friday, either from scratch or cooking for two days at a time — depending on my weekly schedule. They were flexible and trusted me to manage this entirely on my own. Whenever my university schedule allowed me to be home between 5 and 6pm, we all ate dinner together, which I always looked forward to. We usually coordinated our Friday and weekend plans together in a relaxed and open way. On weekends, I played with the kids so that Anke could enjoy her weekly padel games and Geert his occasional tennis matches — something I was always happy to do, because over time I developed a truly loving bond with the two boys through talking, playing, and reading in Dutch together. They played the biggest part of why I was able to pick up Dutch so quickly during my time there! One of my tasks was also to spend one early morning per week with the kids: waking up with them, making and having breakfast (porridge) together, feeding the baby, dressing them, and preparing the lunch box for school. Getting to university in Utrecht was straightforward, though it is worth being aware that the commute takes some planning. You have two route options: either cycling 20 minutes to the nearest town and taking the train and walk to university, or taking the bus directly from Woudenberg to the university campus, which runs five times a day. Since most of my seminars were in the city centre, I primarily traveled by bike and train and then walked - in total around 1 hour from door to door. For me personally, this meant that cooking sometimes shifted to the evenings or mornings rather than the afternoon. That said, if your university schedule is packed or strict, good time management is key — the commute is very manageable, but it does require you to plan ahead and be organised. For groceries, the supermarket is just a two-minute bike ride or five-minute walk away, and I went roughly four times a week. Here too, Anke and Geert were flexible — they encouraged me to find my own rhythm and manage my time in whatever way worked best for me. By the way, the town and the surrounding area is very nice for long walks and bike rides! There is one thing to keep in mind: this is a lively household with three children under the age of five, so mornings and weekends can be noisy and busy. That said, the evenings are wonderfully peaceful and calm. I found an interim-home with people I would gladly return to anytime.

I stayed 5 weeks with Jeanne and all of her lovely animals. It was a pleasure being there and I enjoyed it so much. Jeanne is a funny and really nice person. I learned so many things about cooking, animals, farm stuff and so on. (It was a lot, you gonna find something you're interested in. 👀) And it's just a nice place to stay outside for a bit, go for a walk or just spend time with the animals. (Dogs and cats are always in for a cuddle. ✨️) Got to meet this really nice community. There are so many events and if it's "just" dancing together. Like them all, only met so kindly persons. So, I'm really happy for this awesome experience and gonna miss them. 🥲🫶

I stayed here for 5 weeks. Femke and her daughters gave me a very warm welcome and I immediately felt connected. My main job was to take care of the animals and they are all so sweet. The dogs, the cats and even the pigs and sheep are so affectionate. If I needed anything Femke was always available and she would take me with her whenever possible. If you love to stay in a beautiful natural environment in a very welcoming place and you love animals, this is the place to be. Thank you Femke,Lune and Sterre for sharing your beautiful place with me.

We were so happy that Honza (Jan) came for a Workaway stay 🌞 He was here for three weeks and happened to come at a time that we had another Workawayer here as well. It’s always so wonderful to have people come from countries we haven’t hosted before ! The cultural exchange aspect is such an important part of this program 👍🏼 Honza helped us so much. He did outdoor work around the land, including helping to take apart some old roofing. He was such a great help inside washing dishes and other chores around the house! Also, he was REALLY good with the kids and knows how to engage with them in appropriate and helpful ways 🩵 He was able to try surfing while here with our other Workawayer, who was teaching him and our daughter. He was open to any adventures we brought him on 😉 He was always very helpful and useful with a sweet and calm personality. I highly recommend Honza for your Workaway 😊

this is one of the best families I have ever met. Seen positive in me even Jojo helped me to learn the programing, but I wasnt good at it. LOL. The food cooked by Ana is always amazing. They have helped everyone and especially at my worst time. Kids are amazing and always need something creative to do. They are very understanding and helpful, helped me in many ways possible, whether its finding job or making me understand living in Germany. We could use their bike and car if available. Very polite, Gentle and Responsible family to wards each other and towards the workawayers. There are no words to describe their perfection. Thanks very much for your time and help. God Bless you All.

We feel extraordinarily lucky to have met and hosted Jennifer. She went above and beyond with the care of our home and cats, even making us dinner for our return home. She was very considerate and respectful of our home, and sent us regular updates and photos of the cats. She was organized and communicative, asking a lot of what-if questions so she had a clear understanding of what we wanted if any unfortunate situations arose. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a house or petsitter.

Hi had the best time working with Alex . We were working very well together, it was just all en all a very pleasant time to have him working with me. Nothing had to be said twice he was 100% focused and a very hard and efficient Craftsman. We also had a great time hanging out together after work. It was easy to have interesting conversations and a great Cultural exchange. I would take him back anytime.

Alina and Reece stayed one month at our sanctuary and we are really happy about they stay. They were really helpfull, they get the routine pretty fast and were independent at work, what was really appreciated. There were not afraid to work hard, and they were also always down to wake up at night when our new rescue needed help. Alina is really good with horses, Reece were enjoying to learn more about them. Both have a deep love and respect for animals in general. They were taking a really good care of our rescued dogs cats and horses, and also proactive with house maintenance. Following instructions were not an issue for them. We especially enjoyed Alina vegan cakes. They have peaceful and calm personalities, and it’s a pleasure to share with them. We also shared language lesson and Duolingo session, and some yoga session with Alina. We are grateful for the time with Alina and Reece, we recommend 100% this couple of nice, proactive and respectful people.

This was my first experience with workaway. I am worried that they have set the bar so high that I may never find another as good. They were a pleasure to have with us. Hard working, easy to talk to! I would host them again and again if possible.

If you want your project to go all the way, you might just get Chrisotphe's help ! It was a pleasure to host him. He's very determined and willing to get the job done nice and neat, whether he knows the task or not. He has a keen sense of obversation and is a fast learner. We had plenty of good chat, good meals and he adapted really easily to our daily routine. And of course if you have a chance to see the magic happen when you see him handle the sewing machine : most of my dressing room is now patched up !
