My short stay pre-season with Laura was pleasant and satisfying. I especially liked how I got to manage my own projects with as much ability as I had while also receiving guidance whenever needed in a helpful spirit. I got to build a small retainer wall which was challenging at times, but fulfilling! I was comfortable, there was good company, and

I would come back again and I'd be curious to see the place in full-swing. while I was visiting, there was also a family from Columbia, which made things also interesting.

This is an amazing place to stay.
Laura and Paul have really built a beautiful and peaceful area with a powerful soul.
They truly put their whole heart into this project, and we can feel it.
I felt at home really fast and enjoyed every moment together.
I was only there for two days, and they celebrated my birthday, it was really lovely of them.

This experience was all about sharing, so heart-fulfilling.
I slept for most of my stay in their incredible "A-frames" and was really glad to be in such a nice wood cabin :)
I was there during a lively time; we were four workawayers at the same time. It was really joyful, and I'm so glad I got to meet incredible new people as well.
I really enjoyed the work I did; it was very versatile, each day was different.
I got to do painting, cleaning, laundry, setting up the tents and decorating them, drilling, and last but not least, concrete!
Riding the golf cart and tractor was a PLUS and so much fun, haha.
I arrived during a week when a burlesque show was being set up. It was a pleasure to see all of this come to life and to be able to see the show afterward! We helped with parking and running the bar and it was so cool to do something different again!
Basically, if you enjoy trying your hand at various tasks and doing different things, you will definitely find happiness
here !
I loved the daily routine of sharing breakfast together and getting to know what the day would be like. Laura was really organized, and you knew from the very beginning of the day what your tasks would be. We shared amazing suppers (like a crêpes or burgers party!) and conversations as well.
The goats, ducks, and chickens are adorable, and it's nice to be around them.
It was really enjoyable to be able to borrow bikes and discover the area around; it’s really beautiful.
I'm so sad to have stayed only two weeks. I would have loved to stay longer. I already know that I want to come back. Laura, Paul, and Calliope are the sweetest. They’re incredible and are surrounded by amazing people as well !! Monkey, BooBoo, and Faith, thank you for also being this nice to me.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Laura and her family are just amazing, so welcoming and comforting. the ranch really is a beautiful place to spend time, I hope I will come back!

Rowenna is the sweetest human! So versatile, she helped us winterize our ranch, work on fencing and also spend time with our 5 year old. She is wise for her years, and has so much practical knowledge. Rowenna would be a gem to any project and we hope to host her again. Thank you!

Neo was such a joy! He is wise for his years with a general great energy and helpful hands. He was with us just a few days but we would have gladly had him for longer and hope to see him again on his travels. We worked on fencing and winterizing our farm and guest ranch. You will be happy to welcome him into your space. Sending the best Neo!

I stayed with Laura and Paul for 2 weeks and had a great time. They are very warm welcoming, pleasant and interesting people. I felt like a member of their family and really enjoyed the shared dinners and evenings. Laura and me worked on several projects like painting the kitchen floor or landscaping infront of their house entrance and installing

Besides the work, which was never more than 5 hours a day, i had a enough time for myself. In addition Laura and Paul took me hiking or introduced me to their friends, which made feel at the right place. If you ever have the opportunity to stay at Lauras and Pauls place you should definetly take this chance. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

This was my first Workaway experience and it was extremely positive. Laura, Paul, Calliope, Big Daddy Goaty, Alabaster, Duck pack, Chickens and assorted helpers were my family and pod for 2 weeks this spring. I felt instantly welcomed and at home (so much so that I reorganized their pantry on day 3). The earthen bag pool project didn't materialize

Instead, I did a wide variety of work including covering some picnic tables and benches with oil cloth, cleaning out the goat and chicken houses, cleaning a variety of furniture for use in and out of the glamping tents, clearing an area of overgrowth for a new cabin. The setting is extremely beautiful and the accommodations were top notch. Meals were also delicious filled with local products which are plentiful in the Hudson Valley. In my time off, I enjoyed the town of Germantown and Hudson and riding my bike on rolling scenic roads devoid of cars- heaven on 2 wheels! Suggestions for your stay: bring work gloves if you have, bring waterproof rain boots if you're there in spring or when rain is in the forecast, be aware of ticks. Thank you Laura, Paul and Calliope for a wonderful experience!! I hope to see you again! You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Wow it's been a long time but finally I'm writing our review :) We've spent two weeks with Laura and Paul last April. They really were our heroes: we've been in NYC, desperate to get out of the city to time in nature and we found shelter at their place :) We felt at home from the first moment on: Laura picked us up from the train station, shared

Work was a real adventure: we were using many recycled materials and basically just tried out making something cool out of it. It was a real DIY trial and error experience: our platforms took on expressionist shapes and the solar shower was too cold and too hot - but we eventually got there :)
So thanks again (very belated:) ! It's great to see the progress you guys already made!

Alex was an extraordinary help to us when we really needed it, and brought great energy to our house and eco-village. I feel so blessed to give Laura and Paul their first review, because I know that many people will be nervous to come to their beautiful home because of the lack of reviews on this listing.

Laura has energy, wisdom and a spirit of ingenuity and a lack of fear that inspired me to think outside of the box and love every minute of building rock fire pits, firewood racks, clearing tree limbs and weedwacking future outdoor kitchen space, and more! We started every morning with a guided yoga session, meditation, a delicious breakfast and tea, and prep for the day ahead! We worked hard until lunch when we always ate delicious food and got to jump in the local swimming hole! By nightfall we chilled in the kitchen exchanging stories and ideas and then had some great bonfires! Paul is an amazing artist, builder, lover and friend who will make you laugh, cry from laughing, and then ponder on your existence as a human all in the same moment. He was so much fun to work with, it didn't really seem like i was working for him. Do not hesitate to go to this fabulous homestead. There is so much to be done and so much fun to be had!!! Henry and Emlyn are super talented fellas, and came all the way to my farm in upstate NY from CA in their adorable camper that they made theirselves. We stayed with Laura and Paul for ~2 weeks. It was a wonderful experience and we felt like family almost instantly. They are committed to living well, and the food was delicious and healthy. We worked on a number of projects including building a deck for her yurts. We would go back in an instant.
Thanks Laura!
