Hello Payton , We were pleased to have you stay and find your place on the farm. Being there on time every morning ready to help in any way that was needed. Thank you for taking on many different parts of the farm work and the power washing and painting project. We were able to rely upon you and know that you were doing the best job possible. Every project you were ready and willing to learn and to complete with a pleasant attitude and friendly manner making the experience fun. We are glad that you were able to visit the ox cart Factory and Botanical Garden here in Sarchi as well as explore and enjoy parts of the country away from the farm . The bench project is a testament to your improved design and carpentry ability and we will use that for years. Our experience at the school was much more than just a volunteer opportunity — it marked the beginning of our new life in Italy. We arrived during a time of transition, full of expectations and also challenges, and we were welcomed with respect, generosity, and genuine kindness. We are deeply grateful to have found an environment that was open to dialogue and truly willing to integrate us into the project. From the very first day, we felt valued and encouraged to contribute with our skills, while also learning something new every day. The school was not only a place where we volunteered, but a space that became part of our adaptation process, growth, and the building of this new chapter in our lives. We carry with us not only practical lessons, but also precious memories and a profound sense of gratitude. We recommend this experience to volunteers who wish to live a meaningful and authentic exchange, grounded in respect, humanity, and true collaboration. With Michelle, Chris, Ayla, Ayron, Aymon, Sphinx, and Cairo, I felt at home from the first moment I arrived in Switzerland. I can say that I couldn't have chosen a better first experience. Michelle and Chris are great hosts and made me feel like part of the family, always willing to help me, give travel tips, chat, and anything I needed that was within their reach, they didn't hesitate to do. I'm still improving my English, and they were always very kind when I made a mistake or forgot a word. I had a lot of fun watching Stranger Things and playing their various card and board games. Spending Christmas and New Year's with them was a huge plus because I got to experience unforgettable moments and try recipes I had never tasted before (in my conversation with Michelle I said I really wanted to have an incredible Christmas outside my country, and know that I truly did). I also loved meeting some of her family and friends during the end-of-year holidays; her mother was especially kind to me, and we had great conversations. The children are a very special part of this Workaway because they are all very kind, polite, and open to learning about our culture. I was able to teach them a song in Portuguese, and they easily learned it and haven't stopped singing since. The boys are very smart and special; they hugged me since I arrived at the house. Ayla is shy at first, but once she gets used to it, she's the cutest child in the world. Regarding accommodation, we shared a room with another Workaway, but it's a very comfortable environment with privacy since the beds are separated by a wardrobe. An important part of this experience was sharing tasks with other Workaways because, besides the work not being too heavy, I was able to learn from them and make friendships during my stay that I will cherish for life. Michelle is very organized with tasks and gave me everything I needed to know during the whole time there. The job involves looking after the children, helping with household chores and cooking, exactly as described in the profile. Finally, of course I can't fail to mention that I fell in love with the kitten Sphinx, whom I will miss very, very much. I will also miss styling little Ayla's hair while she devoured her morning smoothie. In short, what I can say is that I highly recommend this family on Workaway! I will miss them and hope to see them again soon in the summer. Cami

I really enjoyed the experience at the cafe. The value of experiencing myself in the role of a teacher was truly extraordinary. It expanded my mind to see the importance of guidance in the process of communication and learning. It also helped me to understand how to manage a big group of people and befriend them, while not losing control of the class. Really valuable experience, I have to say. So much improvisation and thinking of different topics to discuss, while encouraging everyone to speak, even those less inclined to open up. Psychological, intelectual and practical aspects of this work are important lessons that will stay with me forever. The whole team working at the cafe was very kind and professional. Same with the other workawayers working with me, it really felt like a whole family united in one very nice goal of bringing confidence in students of all ages to speak a new language and make them feel comfortable in trying. Students also felt like a part of this family, being very friendly and always welcoming to hang out after the classes, curious and helpful. You will definitely get plenty of tips for exploring Istanbul and other parts of Turkey along with this work. Wish you all good luck!

I stayed with Daniele for about a week in February and had a magical time. He is a generous, kind hearted & easy going person with many skills. His cabin is enchanting, and very rustic. To stay here is to travel back in time- where the functions of daily life require more work and for you to be in harmony with nature. Together, Daniele and I practiced yoga in the mornings, worked, hosted a full moon pizza jam celebration, listened to music by the fire, and had adventures with members of his community. I learned a little bit about leatherwork from him, too, and got to make something to remember my time in Cervalo! I speak mostly English and Daniele's commitment to communicating with me in his third language meant a lot. If you get the opportunity to stay here, do it! You will make many happy memories.

Fue un tiempo muy grato, es una pareja altamente recomendable por su energía y su capacidad de adaptación con los equipos que tocaron en esos días. Ayudaron n varios aspectos y lograron concluir el piso de piedra de un nuevo proyecto de Cósima de barro al aire libre. Creo que fue una excelente combinación con los espacios de la huertas. Devyn was a wonderful volunteer at our farm. She was very reliable, open, loving with the animals, and extremely thoughtful. She got along very well with the other helpers and was particularly interested in improving her German, which she did excellently. I can wholeheartedly recommend her to all future hosts.

Hace mucho tiempo que no contabamos con un voluntario tan excelente! No es alguien que esté aqui solo para descansar tras un largo viaje, ni simplemente por estar cerca de Köln. Es alguien que realmente sabe como ponerse manos a la obra, que reconoce el trajao y lo realiza con entusiasmo. Alguien que se integra como parte de la familia, que entra a la cocina y de manera espontanea empieza a lavar los platos que habian quedado... Hay pocos como Blanca! Blanca sabe como ponders manos a la obra y es un verdadero rayo de sol en la casa. Jugo de manera esponanea con nuestra hija menor e incluso intento entablar conversaciones interesantes con nuestra hija mayor. Observa, sabe ser reservada cuando hace falta y tiene como objetivo ayudarte en las multiples tareas del dia. Blanca, seguro que iremos a visitarte, pero por favor, vuelve pronto! Son profil affiche que c'est un milieu non-funeur, mais l'hôte fume. Il ne se gêne pas pour fumer à l'intérieur, au repas, ou quand on travaille avec lui. Pour ne pas contamment être incommodé, il faut explicitement lui demander de se restreindre dans toutes les situations qui se présentent. Heureusement, il acceptait ensuite de faire un effort, mais il semble quand même incapable de comprendre que ce soit incommodant. Sur le plan culturel, c'était vraiment une belle expérience. Il était très prompt à aider avec la langue et expliquer de son point de vue les différences culturelles observées. Il cherchait à aider avec nos différentes circonstances et était toujours ouvert à discuter. Toutefois, Hans semble avoir un petit complexe de supériorité morale. Parler avec lui peut facilement tourner en conversations bizarres où il tend à juger de manière très catégorique certains comportements sans jamais se remettre en question. J'imagine qu'il y a une part qui est dû à la barrière de la langue, mais son usage des mots est également très intense et exagérée pour de petites situations. Sa perception de bien des choses étaient souvent très atypique. Il croyait que les végétariens ne mangeaient que des fruits et légumes et qu'on avait pas besoin de protéines pour avoir une alimentation équilibrée, par exemple. Il souhaite qu'on soit prudent et qu'on évite tous les nids de poule en conduisant sa voiture, ce qui est tout à fait raisonnable. Par contre, le voir conduire est un peu perturbant. Il conduit vite et manoeuvre assez brusquement. Il n'applique pas toujours ce qu'il demande des autres. Somme toute, c'était une expérience très bénéfique sur le plan personnel. Je me considère comme moi-même un minimaliste et le mode de vie dans son milieu est effectivement assez modeste. Ça m'a également rappelé beaucoup de dynamiques que j'avais moi-même avec mon père. Vu de l'extérieur, ça aide à donner de la perspective aux choses. Malgré tous les inconvénients survenus durant le séjour, je le remercie profondément de m'avoir accueilli chez lui.

I learnt so much from you both about growing, harvesting & preserving different fruits & vegetables & so enjoyed our preserve & chutney making & of course picking the fruits initially! You are both super kind, patient & supportive & I valued my time with you in such incredible tranquil settings & the Islay's marathon fiestas where everyone in Detif was super welcoming ! The delicious food you provided, including our lovely lunches together which were such treats were all amazing! I wish you great happiness & success together & hope to see you in the future ! What a surprise ! After two months of tough (but meaningful) travelling through loud brazilian heat, we finally found this lovely family living in this quiet and cooler haven of peace. Mika, Fernando and Eirinn welcomed us in their life and gave us their trust from day one. They are more generous than 99% of human population, and yet they sometimes hesitate to ask for even simple tasks. They offered us a shelter, time to rest and organize our room, wondelful ingredients to cook with, a comfy bed, day trips to natural parks and touristic places of the surroundings and sincere support during the harder times with our son Santiago. Everyday was a natural mix of fun tasks in the yard, organizing meals for everyone, playing with Eirinn and dealing with the lovely ''bagunça'' caused by our children and the pets. We left Santo Antonio do Pinhal with a real feeling of fulfillment and hapiness. In short, it was a really good fit. Thank you very much, we were not expecting such a peaceful end to our trip. Christian is a hard worker. He's very competent and doesn't watch the clock. He did a remarkable job renovating our wooden tables, chairs, benches, and doors: sanding and varnishing. The finish is perfect. It's truly professional work. Christian is very kind and discreet. He doesn't talk much. He stayed at our house for several weeks. We shared all our meals. There were many workawayers there at the time. I recommend Christian without hesitation!

Jenny is not your ordinary helper - she is a passionate gardener-permaculture designer with big aroha for nature and people. And she is willing to share her tremendous experience in these fields with you. In my humble garden, Jenny waved her magic wand and - the driveway had a make-over, the glass house a make-over, the veg beds were weeded and mulched, a new compost made, the windows cleaned, the cake baked, the dinner ready, interesting conversations and exchange of ideas and life events, books read and discussed ... Having Jenny around is a wonderfully inspiring and at the same time gentle experience! Thank you, Jenny, and kia kaha towards your further adventures! Nga mihi nui me te arohanui!

We have just spent four weeks with Björgvin, Gunnhildur and their children and we couldn't have asked for better hosts! Everything was perfect: their kindness, our conversations, the great food, the accommodation, the music, the sightseeing and the amazing northern lights! We also really enjoyed the work: putting up some OSB, drywalling, painting and whatever else needed to be done. We loved every minute of our stay!

We had an amazing time at Deb’s house .We got a comfy , private flat and met so many great people.The jobs were easy ,jus some gardening tasks and walking the dog.Don’t worry about language or anything ,Deb is very kind and patient.I’d rate this experience 10 out of 10.

I hosted Simone for almost one month. Although expectations regarding tasks, working hours, and house guidelines were clearly discussed before his arrival, our cooperation became challenging. There were also issues with respecting house rules, despite prior explanations. In addition, he showed little interest in cultural exchange or social interaction. I hope that in the future he aligns his goals more closely with the spirit of the Workaway platform and finds a hosting situation that better matches mutual expectations.
