    Description

We are a family of four living in an idyllic little village in northern Germany.
Our farm also has four horses, two dogs, a cat, about thirty chickens, a pair of ducks and some wild pheasants.
We love spending time outdoors, as well as cooking and baking and creating things. At the moment mainly the renovation of our house. But we also enjoy gardening, processing firewood and driving/riding/hiking through the surrounding countryside.
Fruit (apples, pears, cherries, plums, berries) is already growing seasonally and is just waiting to be harvested. As soon as time and helping hands allow, we would also like to grow our own vegetables. We make our own hay for the horses and always need a helping hand in summer, too.

    You need valid travel/medical insurance.

Don't hesitate to contact us if you would like to find out more about us or if you have any questions.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are open-minded and love to exchange with other nationalities, as we have traveled a lot ourselves (New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Southern Europe), but unfortunately this was a few years ago and is not really an option at our current stage of life. We are looking forward to meeting people from other countries and having a cultural exchange.

Please note: our place is not the right fit if this would be your very first time away from home and you mainly want to try what it’s like to stand on your own feet. Life on a farm requires people who can take responsibility, think ahead, and step in where help is needed without being asked. We really rely on helpers who are proactive, work independently, and are able to look beyond their immediate tasks.

We’re looking for people who take initiative, work independently and responsibly, are diligent, and have a good sense for how things work.

If you’re interested in helping with the animals, gardening, working with horses (most important: mucking out), playing with the kids, tackling DIY projects, processing firewood, or helping with fruit and vegetable farming (seasonal) — we’ll definitely find the right task for you! 😊
Of course light household chores are also part of your daily life here — especially keeping the kitchen clean and tidy.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We live in a spacious farmhouse from the 19th century (build in 1844). You will have your own room with Wifi, TV and a view of the horse paddock. We also provide bed linen and towels.
You will find a photo of your guest room attached.
Of course, we also provide you with delicious, home-made food and drinks (e.g. our own apple and pear juice).

For our Workaway guests, there is also a separate kitchen available where you can prepare your own breakfast and dinner. Lunch, however, is something we usually cook and enjoy together.

    What else ...

It is 6 km from our village to the nearest town (Bad Bevensen), where there is a train station. We provide bicycles, but there is also a public bus service. It is about 80 km to Hamburg (45 minutes by train) or 30 km to Lüneburg (15 minutes by train) - both beautiful cities, highly recommended for day trips.
But also the closer surroundings of our village invite you to go cycling, canoeing, swimming or hiking.
There is a sports club in our village, which is also happy to welcome guests.
If you like to relax and read or listen to music in your free time, there is probably no better place than the beautiful little lake on our property.
