Sarah and Luca were a pleasure to host. They are very communicative, motivated, and hardworking. They integreted very well with the team and both were always helpful and willing to support wherever needed. They integrated well into our daily routine, and communication was easy and clear throughout their stay. I can happily recommend Sarah and Luca to other hosts and wish them all the best for their future travels.

Edel was part of an all star trio that graced the Sanctuary during the last months of 2025. While new to some of the tasks we take on here. She jumped right in with a wonderful postive attitude. She tackled cane grass and raspberry vine with determination and always with a ready smile. She painted a lot and learned to weed eat like a pro. She assisted in the long awaited project of laying the brick flooring in the cattery - it looks awesome and was so needed. Edel's incredibly deep caring for animals was obvious in all her actions. I am sure there are many of our critters who are missing her a lot, not the least of which is Denali, with whom she spent many extra hours and sunset viewing. Edel actually spent a lot of extra time with many of the critters and we, and they, so appreciate that. Edel also cares about the planet and all of its other inhabitants as well - a true global citizen. She has an open invitation to return.

Madison was one of a trio of outstanding volunteers here to close out 2025. We value volunteers who can be part of a team as well as be independent. The team part can be challenging for people with different cultures, perspectives, etc. Madison was a stellar team member. When she arrived Madison didn't have a lot of the skills that come in handy at the sanctuary but she was always ready to try something new (and with a super positive attitude and great smile). She mastered the weed eater and took on cane grass and rasberry vine like a champ - also the paint brush. Of course the most important aspect is animal care. Madison was a very good caretaker of the critters. She was caring and observant and she let us know if something was "off" for any of the critters. We will welcome her back anytime and any host will be lucky to have her join their team.

We stayed with Rachel and Paul for 2 weeks. The experience was truly engaging, and it was wonderful to feel part of a “typical” Australian family. They were very welcoming and included us in all their social activities, both with their family and friends. For Christmas Day and Boxing Day, we were invited to their family and friends’ lunches, and we felt very included: we even received some gifts! Rachel and Paul are very accommodating and caring. They were very patient with us, as our English was not perfect, and we had many interesting conversations with them. Spending time together was truly enriching. Rachel usually communicates the plan for the day in the morning. Work takes place every day, generally in the mornings. Tasks include picking fruit and vegetables, seeding, watering, preparing pickles, relishes, and jams. Keeping you company are their three sweet Jack Russell puppies and their very gentle grandmother, Dixie (we really miss them!). The double bedroom where we were hosted has a huge and incredibly comfortable bed. The food is always plentiful and fresh. Often Rachel and Paul prepared delicious dinners for us; we also got to try takeaways like pizza and Chinese food, and usually on Mondays we went with them to the local pub for dinner with their friends. We hope to come back and visit you soon!

Jennice was one of a trio of top notch volunteers for late fall/winter 2025. She came with some skills that are used frequently here which was awesome. She was wicked with the weed eater. She was the "go to" for tulip tree removal and any sawing that needed to be done. She painted a lot of wood for the new goat shelter and goat platforms. Jennice was integral to laying down the new brick flooring for the cattery - this was a project that had been on the docket since the beginning of 2025 and they got it done in a matter of days! Jennice was also very good with the critters which of course is at the top of the list of things that make a great volunteer here at the farm. This trio really jelled; Jennice was an excellent team member. We will gladly welcome her back.

Clara, her skills, attitude and personality were such a gift to us here at Meander Valley Yoga. She was super organised, cooked delicious and nutritious vegan and vegetarian food for our retreats and was delightful and very respectful company. I'd have her back here anytime. If you get to have Clara at your place, you are very fortunate. Kristina

Lauren was an incredible host, and her kindness made my very first Workaway experience truly unforgettable. I stayed for 11 nights and helped with gardening, taking care of the animals, and general house cleaning. Lauren was so thoughtful—she gave me clear daily tasks and took the time to explain everything simply, which I really appreciated as an English beginner. Beyond the work, she was extremely generous with both the accommodation and food, making sure I always felt comfortable. Even though it takes a little over an hour to get to the center of Sydney, there is a direct train that makes commuting very easy. I feel so lucky and happy that Lauren was my first-ever Workaway host. I highly recommend staying with her! :)

Our stay at Geoff's place was an amazing experience. We loved swimming in the pool on hot! days and transforming his caravan or doing some gardening when it was cooler. We also enjoyed the trips to the beach and the things he introduced us to about the region. We were able to create many delicious meals when cooking together in the evenings. All while we had interesting talks about a whole lot of things. Thanks for sharing your experiences from places all over the world! We will definitely take a lot with us and remember you as a really kind and sharing person on our travels!

We had an amazing stay with Rachel and Aaron. We originally planned to stay for one week and ended up staying three - which says a lot about how great the experience was. Spending time with them and their daughter Riley was really special, and we felt very welcome from the start. This workaway was different from others we’ve done, in a very positive way. The working days and hours were flexible. We made a task list together and could choose when to do things, sometimes working independently while Rachel and Aaron were at work, and other times working together. Everything was based on trust and good communication. They all know the Taranaki area extremely well, and thanks to them we got to explore many beautiful places and truly experience the region, we even swam in rivers together couple of times! A real highlight was being able to farm-sit for them for a couple of days. We really appreciated the trust they placed in us, looking after their home and all their animals. The work was varied and fun, and we got to try so many new things: feeding calves, riding quad bikes, building fences, driving tractor, moving cows between paddocks, hedge trimming, lawn mowing, preparing veggie beds. We also learned to use new tools like a nail gun and a chainsaw, which was a great experience. We especially loved the family dinners - spending time together talking, playing games, doing puzzles, and just relaxing made us feel like part of the family. Thank you, Rachel, Aaron and Riley for welcoming us so openly and sharing your family farm life with us. We’ll never forget this experience and would highly recommend this workaway to anyone.

I spent over two and a half months with Fee and Julian at their home in Binzwangen and had an excellent experience with them. They are both very friendly, calm, and open people, always willing to share what they have and what they know. They made me feel totally welcome in their home and like part of the family, and I also had the opportunity to meet several of their family members and friends, who were all very nice and friendly too. Their baby is very cute and cheerful, and all the animals in the house are awesome (the dog, the cats, the rabbits, and the chickens). Working with them was always good, as they were clear about what needed to be done and trusted me to do it independently. They enjoy sharing their skills, and they have many. Many of the tasks were done together with them, and many were done independently on my own. Beyond work, we also shared many great moments, like going for walks, playing board games, or simply chatting. Another big plus of the experience was the language immersion. I had for a long time wanted to have a deep immersion, speaking only German 100 percent of the time, and I had this opportunity with them. They were very patient and helpful with my learning, mistakes, and endless questions about the language. In summary: I had two and a half months of cultural exchange with them, connecting both personally and through work, always with mutual respect and consideration, helping them with their projects while developing new skills and boosting my German level. I am really grateful for the time I spent with them and would happily come back again someday. I recommend Fee and Julian to every workawayer willing to give focused effort and good work in exchange for an authentic and truly human cultural experience.

Dominik is from the Czech Republic , He stayed with us for 3 weeks and proved to be one of our best workways Dominik is strong and with a lot of talent for DIY and construction projects , He did so many things that I needed done for so long around here from organizing many of our outbuildings, cutting wood, building a trench for water to run away from our barn, chopping firewood, moving leaves, sorting tools and much more! He took pride in all his work, was always polite and positive,  I enjoyed our movie time each night and learning about his travels.  We can recommend this workaway !00%We hope to have you again anytime, Wishing you all the best in your travels
