  • Description

Hello! We are Iga and Leo, an adventurous couple with a shared love for nature, creativity, and cultural exchange.

We first met at Chris Burkard’s photo gallery in Reykjavík, and two years later our paths crossed again near the glaciers of Iceland—Leo working as a park ranger and Iga guiding glacier hikes. Since then, we’ve decided to combine our skills and passions, traveling together during our winter breaks to share experiences, contribute to meaningful projects, and connect with people through Workaway.

    About Iga
I have a diverse background in guiding, luxury hospitality, and creative work. As a glacier guide, I’ve led hikes and ice cave tours, ensuring guest safety, supporting group dynamics, and bringing stories about glaciers, geology, and nature to life. My experience at Deplar Farm and Burkard Studio deepened my skills in guest care, storytelling, and creating warm, memorable atmospheres. I’m also a professional photographer and licensed drone pilot, specializing in lifestyle, event, and landscape imagery.

Beyond work, I’m passionate about crafts, crocheting, camping, hiking, and cooking outdoors—activities that keep me grounded and close to nature. I love creating with my hands, whether it’s preparing a meal by a campfire or making something unique that carries a personal touch.

    About Leo
My path started with marine mechanics and working on boats before moving into guiding and conservation. I am a certified scuba diving guide with experience leading dives in Thailand and Sicily, snorkeling tours in Iceland, and private multi-day tours around the country—hiking, sightseeing, and sharing knowledge about Icelandic nature and culture.

As a park ranger in Vatnajökull National Park, I combined guiding with environmental protection, visitor education, and hands-on conservation work. I also have in-depth knowledge of natural sciences, including geology, volcanoes, glaciers, and oceans, which allows me to share a deeper understanding of the landscapes and ecosystems we explore.

I’m also an active outdoors enthusiast—surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, climbing, and diving are ways I stay connected to the elements. Like Iga, I’m passionate about sustainability and believe in leading by example, whether through reducing plastic use, participating in beach cleanups, or supporting conservation initiatives.

    Together
We are both certified Wilderness First Responders, experienced in ensuring safety in remote and challenging environments. As licensed drone pilots and photographers, we love documenting places and people in a way that tells meaningful stories. Just as comfortably, we enjoy rolling up our sleeves for physical work—whether it’s farm tasks, gardening, hospitality, or general maintenance.

We also both hold a D driving license, allowing us to drive larger vehicles if needed.

What brings us together is our shared passion for nature, creativity, and meaningful human connection. We believe happiness is greater when shared, and Workaway gives us the chance to exchange knowledge, contribute our skills, and create lasting core memories with the people we meet.

We’d love the opportunity to bring our energy, experience, and creativity to your project. If you think we might be a good fit, we’d be happy to connect.

    Can’t wait to meet you!
    — Iga & Leo

  • More details about your skills

We bring a balance of hospitality, guiding expertise, creativity, and practical skills. We’re confident with a wide range of tasks including cooking, cleaning, gardening, planting and harvesting vegetables, trimming trees, painting, and general maintenance. We adapt quickly to new environments, are comfortable with physical work, and enjoy contributing both independently and as part of a team.

Leo has worked in kitchens around the world, developing strong cooking skills and a passion for preparing wholesome meals that bring people together. Iga complements this with her background in luxury hospitality, where she learned to create exceptional guest experiences, anticipate needs, and build warm, welcoming atmospheres.

Our guiding experience has also given us strong organizational and leadership abilities: coordinating schedules, managing groups, ensuring safety, and giving engaging briefings. Leo, as a certified scuba diving guide, can share his knowledge of the ocean and lead water-based activities, while Iga enjoys sharing her creativity through crafts, crocheting, and outdoor cooking. While not certified teachers, we are fluent in English and French and happy to support anyone wishing to practice in a relaxed and friendly way.

Beyond our skillsets, we are kind, passionate, and social people who love connecting with others. At the same time, we also value stillness and moments of quiet—whether in nature or shared peacefully with people around us. Both of us are drawn to the spiritual side of life, appreciating balance, simplicity, and presence in the places we go and the communities we join.

As photographers and licensed drone pilots, we add creative value by documenting projects, producing high-quality content, and supporting marketing or storytelling efforts that highlight a place, community, or initiative.
