I had my first volunteering experience in Liljana's dog shelter, and it was truly amazing. I went together with a friend, and we both felt very grateful to be part of such a meaningful place. Liljana is doing a beautiful and inspiring job rescuing and caring for stray dogs. You can really feel the love and dedication behind everything she do for the animals. The work is not heavy, and everything is well explained. Lily, who works there, is always present to try give instructions and is very kind and willing to help at any moment (even when she dosent speak English). The accommodation was very good and comfortable, and the common areas were also really nice to relax and share time. Overall, it was a wonderful first volunteering experience, and I would highly recommend more volunteers to come and be part of this beautiful project.

I had a great week with Alfred and his family! The work is pretty nice, it's mainly cleaning, helping with social media and teaching English. after work you are free to do whatever you want, Alfred is very helpful and wants to undertake many activities together, such as hiking, or going to Bucaramanga. he has many ideas. it's good to know that it's a little bit far from the city Bucaramanga but there's a bus that takes you there, and if you are travelling during the night Alfred waits for you at the bus station, which is very nice of him 🙏 a good place if you want to relax in nature, go see the waterfalls or the Chicamochha canyon :)

We hosted Natalie for about three weeks. As it was a short stay, we asked her to help with babysitting from picking up our eldest daughter from the bus until dinner time. Natalie always played with our daughter in a fun and engaging way, making her very happy. What impressed us the most was that she did not treat children as just children, but respected them as individuals and communicated with them patiently. She is also very good at reading situations and quickly understanding what children want or feel like doing. On days when the nursery was closed, she even took our daughter to a pig café. She is very responsible, and we felt completely comfortable entrusting her with our child. We also spent time together going out for jingisukan and skiing. Although her stay was short, we shared many wonderful moments. She is a fast learner and highly responsible, so we believe she will do well in any kind of work. We truly wish her all the best in her future.

Georgia joined us as a last-minute Workawayer. Despite the short time, she contributed effectively to an ongoing creative project and integrated seamlessly with the atmosphere here. I would definitely recommend hosting her. If you’re lucky, you’ll also get to hear her beautiful singing voice. She will always be welcome here!

Dear Anna and Libor, it was such an incredible time with you, being part of your family, joining your small farm life for a bit was definitely an experience I‘ll never forget. I immediately felt being part of the family, Anna, Libor and the two boys are so welcoming, open-minded, they have a great sense of humor, and made me smile so often. Thanks for the yummy meals, you both cook and bake amazing, it was a pleasure to learn from you, how to make cheese, and cook traditional Czech meals, I’ll certainly take some of your recipes home. I learned so much at your place, even though it was just two weeks - wish I could have stayed longer. Some of the highlights were surely learning how to bake really amazing sourdough bread, milking the goats - at least when I did it the second time, I didn’t suck. Furthermore I truly enjoyed making cheese, feeding the animals in the morning, our evening conversations, teaching Libor some German vocabs and entertaining the boys. It was so much fun to puzzle, doing heaps of drawings, making faces with Hugo and watching kids movies with Ferdinand - it somehow took me back to my childhood. They are both so lovely, energetic, playful and tender. The day we took pictures of the goats and the funny results which came out - I will always remember that, and of course the evening, when the ginger beer bottle exploded and everyone got a shower. Thank you so much for Karl II, I’ll take care of him :) Hope to see you soon again, definitely stop by for a visit. Already miss you <3

So i stayed at Nina’s for about 2 weeks and i loved it. all the sweet animals: donkeys, horses, chickens, ducks, sheep, dogs and cats! 🐥I slept in a caravan and it is a bit away from the house, very peaceful in the middle of nature. 🌄 Ps: if you are very afraid of spiders I would not very recommend it. The caravan has electricity and it gets charged by the sun.☀️It was very interesting to see how they live. Nina and her two daughters are managing everything themselves! Nina her cooking is delicious. 😋There was no meal that I didn’t like. And with her daughters it will never be silent on the table (-; and you can feel free to ask anything and they will always be ready to explain and tell you stories. I am missing everything already. If you would like to see how it is like living more in the nature, I very much recommend it. Nina also taught me more about gardening. 🍓The work I could do on my own pace. A very good experience. An adres I would like to return to. Thank you all 🌼🫏

I enjoyed my time in Troncones. The location is beautiful and we got to spend a lot of time with some awesome dogs. I would say it was 3 stars for accuracy of the profile, there was one time in which we were able to go "into the street" and work with an injured dog there. There were also a few times (2 in my 3 weeks) where we were invited to go to the vet. Other than that, the majority of the work was doing housekeeping around headquarters and walking the dogs. So, I ended up enjoying it, but with the description being as it is/was, it isn't what I expected. They were very flexible with me leaving earlier than anticipated and with my schedule. Definitely be sure to ask about discounts, local spots, etc. They are there and available, there just isn't a list or it isn't told to you up front. They communicated well for the most part and if you want to practice your Spanish, Patty is a great teacher :).

Dora, Anezio and family, obrigadaaaa! It's been such a lovely time living at their place. I actually ended up staying longer than i originally planned. It's impossible not to love Dora: she is so kind and cheerful and always happy to chat and help, and the communication was super easy. She also invited me to her weekly yoga class which i loved going to. I always knew what jobs she needed done and was happy to do them! Painting, cleaning, some work in the garden. The caravan i stayed in had all i could need and more. It is cute and you could see that Dora took the time to make it cozy and homely, which feels super nice. Their place in Vila do Bispo was a perfect base for me from which I could drive to either south coast or west coast within 10 mins. I feel super lucky that I got to know Dora and to see how her life is here. Thank you again and hopefully we'll see eachother again :) xxxx

Having Elisa with us in Karimunjawa was truly special. From the very first day, she fit in naturally, with simplicity, a genuine interest in learning about the local culture, and a real willingness to help. She was always available and ready to support with whatever was needed, bringing a collaborative spirit and an extremely positive attitude that truly made a difference, making everything more enjoyable for everyone. We shared not only work, but also many beautiful moments of everyday life. We are truly happy to have had Elisa with us in Karimunjawa: I can recommend her without any doubt… and I’d also suggest having a good supply of tissues ready for when she leaves! Thank you from the heart, Eli, for your help and for the beautiful energy you brought here ✨ . Avere Elisa con noi a Karimunjawa è stato davvero speciale. Grazie di cuore Eli, per il tuo aiuto e per la bella energia che hai portato qui ✨

Hosting Enrico and Francesca with their two daughters has been something truly special for us. From the very first moment there was a deep and natural connection, both between us adults and between the kids. Our child and their girls bonded instantly, even before really introducing themselves, just rolling together in the grass and laughing. It was something very pure and beautiful to witness. Enrico is a skilled carpenter and shared with us a lot of valuable knowledge. He showed us how to really choose wood properly, not just by size but by looking at it carefully, understanding its quality, the knots, the shape. He also took full care of rebuilding the outdoor shower for the volunteers area from scratch, doing a really excellent job with great attention and autonomy. Francesca brought a very warm and caring presence. We spent long walks together with the children, talking about nature, plants, mushrooms, and life. She also supported a lot with the kids, including ours, and it was clear how much love and attention she brings into everything she does. Our child absolutely loved spending time with her and with their daughters. As a family they are truly beautiful. You can feel the love between them, and it naturally spreads around them, creating a very special atmosphere. We also shared Christmas together, which made everything even more meaningful. Saying goodbye was not easy at all. We are sure our paths will cross again one day, whether here or in Tuscany. It doesn’t really matter where, we just know it will happen. Thank you for everything you brought here. A big hug to all of you 🌿

Hosting Ania and Sasha was truly a beautiful experience for us. They are such a lovely couple, very easygoing, calm and grounded. From the very beginning they integrated naturally into the rhythm of the place, bringing a quiet but strong presence. Sasha did an incredible amount of physical work while he was here, at one point cutting down many trees by hand with an axe, which honestly says a lot about his determination and work ethic. Both of them are very autonomous and reliable. Once a task is explained, they just take it and move forward with care and attention, without needing to be followed. But beyond the work, what we appreciated the most was who they are as people. We shared many conversations, simple moments, and also Christmas together, which made everything even more special. There is something very genuine and kind in the way they relate to others. We are really grateful for the time we shared and for everything they brought here. We truly hope our paths will cross again one day 🌿

I loved having Clara in my home. She is active alive and attentive person. She would ask me every day if she could help out with anything and took also self initiative according my needs. We had wonderful conversations about life, she has a deep sensitivity and wisdom. Someone to learn from. Her vibe always felt positive and uplifting. I loved that.

My time here was wonderful! Very comfortable, creative and inspiring. Carlo and Selene are so generous and lovely. The accommodation was bright, spacious and cosy. Sunbathing whilst working creatively and collaboratively with snacks and drinks out on the balcony - you can’t beat that! I hope to return one day for sure. Thank you!

What a fantastic experience with such a generous host. Even when the rain came we found nice things to do inside. The accommodation is so comfortable for outdoor living. A very impressive place with self-sufficient systems Alberto has skilfully built. He cooked amazing food and introduced me to some fantastic friends in the area. It was really an above and beyond experience and warmed my soul. 100% recommend!

We absolutely loved having Alice and Julien with us on the finca. Their joyful presence brought such a beautiful energy to the place. They worked with real passion and care, tending to the garden and connecting so naturally with the kids. Everything they did carried a sense of love and attention that you can’t teach. They’re full of life force and bubbly energy, always in the flow and somehow lifting everyone around them into that same current. Truly some of the most buena onda people you’ll come across on Workaway 🌞

Words can’t describe the luck we had that Maor had time to spend two weeks with us. It’s incredible how much it feels like family after only two weeks. The moment we picked you up from the train station it felt like picking up a long known friend. There were so many things that aligned and even before meeting you we were so excited (specially Emma) to host somebody who is Jewish and vegan. From the first moment on it felt so normal and comfortable having you around. I think our only critique is that you left jkkkk! 😂🙈 Maor woke up with us in the morning and helped make breakfast for the kids, even brought them to school when we were not available. He was always around helping to clean the kitchen, the living room, he cooked and baked delicious vegan food for all of us, he also baked with the kids, he really connected with the kids especially playing daily sword fights with Adi. He went with us to IKEA and had great ideas how we can use the very limited space of our kitchen best. I will never forget the day when Maor wanted to build down a bunk bed and build it up again in a different room and cut a huge hedge in the back yard. I thought that’s work for at least three days but Maor proved me wrong. He finished it all in one day. Also it was very fun to cut the hedge together with him. After I was exhausted from all the work he went on and even made dinner for everybody. So he’s a super person! He was always open to help where help was needed and we didn’t even have to ask him, he just saw it and did it and integrated so well in our daily life. Also we had great conversations about veganism, religion, spirituality , culture and many more topics. Despite all the productivity, Maor still brought a calm, relaxed, fun energy that left a big impact on our family. We miss you already now one day after you left. Please know that you’ll always have a home here and are welcome to come back any time you want and stay for as long as you want. Ana: He’s the type of person you feel is a part of your family and just fits. Our humor, engaging with the kids, and views on positivity all aligned so well. We had great talks on the world and acceptance. He feels like a breath of fresh air to be around, and I loved discovering vegan spots with him and sharing my favorites. And the kids are already asking when he’ll come back (including Jojo who is being attacked extra from the kids right now due to missing him already). Thank you for everything You are such a kind hearted and wonderful person ❤️
