Description
We are Nimea and Vittoria (42 years old), Paolo and Edoardo (44 years old), and the little ones Oceano and Deva (3 years old). We are two Italian families who chose to build our lives here in Portugal.
In 2021, we moved into our home, located on a 6.5-hectare piece of land that had been left untouched for years. We are in the Algarve, the southernmost region of Portugal, near the town of Aljezur and the beautiful beaches of Arrifana, Amoreira, and Monte Clérigo.
We’ve launched a rural project based on the principles of permaculture. We have already started developing a syntropic agroforest, with the goal of regenerating the soil and creating a harmonious and productive ecosystem. Although we’re still in the early stages, there are many important actions to carry out—both for the soil and to make the volunteer area increasingly welcoming.
We've been hosting volunteers since 2021 and have gradually built a solid experience in doing so. Before settling here, we ourselves spent a year and a half traveling—often using the WorkAway platform—and volunteering in various places. That experience gave us valuable insight into what volunteers really need and expect. That’s why we aim to create an environment that is enriching, inspiring, and respectful.
We love living close to nature and enjoying everything this beautiful area has to offer—especially hiking and surfing, which the region is well known for.
We also share our space with our furry family members: two small dogs and several cats, all free to roam around the property as if it were their own… because, in a way, it is!Types of help and learning opportunities

Here, you’ll dive into nature with all five senses: we have 65,000 square meters of land to live, explore, and breathe in. All around us, beautiful walking trails wind through the landscape—Rota Vicentina is just a short distance away—and we love taking volunteers to discover the ones we know or heading out together to explore new paths. If you’re into the ocean, you can easily reach stunning surf beaches by car… or even by bike for a sunny beach day.
Our lifestyle blends the laid-back rhythm of Portugal with the warmth of Italian culture: there’s always space for chats, laughter, shared meals, and good company. We’re happy to open our doors (and our hearts) to those who join us, and we love sharing what we’ve learned on our permaculture journey. The longer you stay, the deeper you’ll dive into the project—each phase unfolds slowly and has its own rhythm. And if you thought permaculture was just about planting things… surprise! It’s mostly about observing, listening to the land, preparing the space… and digging some good holes! If something seems “off” or disconnected, don’t hesitate to ask—everything we do has a purpose.
We always try to host volunteer groups as diverse as possible. We truly believe in the power of connection between people who might never cross paths in everyday life. But here, something special happens: stories, ideas, laughs, quiet moments… all get shared—and often, beautiful friendships are born that last well beyond the time spent together.
And one of the best parts? Mealtime! Every day, a different person cooks, so you get to travel the world one bite at a time. With spices, flavors, and dishes from every corner of the globe, food becomes one of the most delicious ways to connect and get to know each other.Help
We just start a syntropic agroforest to recover a very exploited and sandy ground. We have in plan to plant more than 400 trees (we already planted some of them) respecting the ecological succession and the species already present in the area.
In addition we would like to arrange one of our pinewoods to welcome some tourists and courses/workshop/retreats, with some light wood building to make it more comfortable. -This part is not related to volunteers job, is just to let you know our vision-
We need mostly help for:
• taking care to the agroforest
• collecting the outcome of the land and transform in something that can be conserved.
• general maintenance of the land
• build some light wooden structures
• sometimes babysitting
• if we need to leave for few days taking care of our dogs and cats
We ask to help 4 hours per day (start around 8.00 in the morning) with a coffee break in the middle, from monday to friday.
Just to be honest, the tasks are hard 💪🏼, but we hope to pay back with a beautiful experience and new knowledge for everybody.
IMPORTANT: there are no volunteers activities related to any business.Languages spoken
