We rarely see volunteers with so much drive and energy. Christina & Kevin were particularly interested in Sam's rebuilding project in the old mill. They were very keen on learning about the whole process and worked along Sam with lots of energy and enthousiasm. It was a refreshing experience hosting them as it also boosted Sam's enthousiasm for the project to new levels. Christina and Kevin are very easygoing guests, they stayed for three weeks dis a weekend house sit for us and fitted in a weekend to visit Granada themselves. It was a pleasure to host them and they will be forever welcome at the fam.

Gabriel was a truly wonderful guest, and we absolutely loved having him stay with us. He is warm, easy to talk to, and brings a very positive energy wherever he goes. He never complains, is genuinely grateful, and shows appreciation for everything around him. Gabriel was also fantastic with our horses. It was clear how much he enjoyed spending time with them, and they seemed to enjoy him just as much. We would happily welcome him back anytime and can highly recommend him to any future hosts!

Me and my partner spent 10 days at this lovely and lively home built partly from what the beach provided and partly from curiosity and work of Ted, Shao Mei, Kaylen and their friends. We had a lot of personal space as the accommodation was a separate big house in a Wes Anderson movie-like village by the sea (with the windy and cloudy season in early March, being there alone might be a little unsettling, but for two people the atmosphere was enjoyable). Ted picked us up every day around 9am, we were helping in their farm till 1pm and then had lunch together (since we are vegetarians, they adapted and prepared light vegetarian meal for us. We recommend buying groceries in the city once you arrive, because getting around the countryside isn't very convenient ( more expensive) if you don't have your own means of transport and there aren't places to eat out nearby (wintertime). Considering the work, we were helping with grinding old pieces of wood to prepare them for building stairs. We also helped with decorating walls in Kaylen's room as well as collecting stones on the beach for road building. It was very inspiring to see how upcycling gives new life and spark to things other people had thrown away. Life in Penghu felt just like a place where the time had stopped so we could slowly flow into the everyday routine of this slightly chaotic and always fun family. We are very thankful for your welcoming approach and wish you a lot of strength with ongoing projects! See you! Eli & Jubi

We hosted Sarah for about three weeks, and she was a great help with a diverse range of tasks. She worked with a team to set up and promote a new free library, networked for book donations, updated our cloud storage and informational booklet, created our LinkedIn page, and even led some community yoga sessions. Sarah is a structured, punctual, and reliable volunteer who approaches her tasks with discipline and mindfulness. I personally really enjoyed our working relationship because she is direct and clear in her communication, always being upfront about her expectations and what she likes or doesn't like. She completed her full stay with us and even dedicated some extra free time after her volunteer period ended to finish up a project. We appreciate her straightforward approach and solid commitment, and we recommend her to future Workaway hosts!

We had the pleasure to host Karen and Daniel for a week this March and we would not have minded if they stayed longer. In this few days we did get a lot of tasks done and we are very thankful for that. The fig tree has a protective fence, the old cupboard is professionally restored and has much more life left, all the young tomato plants are separated and ready to go in beds in a few days, the asparagus bed is all weeded and finally easy to harvest, most of the winter fur is gone from the horses and on top of all of that we had help with the daily tasks and routine every day of the week. We only think that we might have to neglect our dogs a little bit in the coming days because they are definitely very, very spoiled after a week of loving attention from Karen and Daniel. :-) We really enjoyed the time spend with Karen and Daniel and we surely hope to see them back some time in the future. For now we wish them all the best on their journey of a lifetime and many happy encounters on the way. May Bärbel always live up to every challenge!

Margo is just so nice to have around. She makes friends easily, is empathetic and very personable. She was with us for two weeks and throughout was thoughtful and worked hard at all her various tasks. We wish her well in her travels and hope she is able to stay with us again before she leaves for home.

Being fairly new to the Workaway program we weren't really sure what to expect. We were therefore delighted when Peter & Gail arrived, quickly settling in, and even more quickly getting on with the jobs we had ready. They were easy company and very dedicated to doing a very good job - whether it be painting, gardening or cleaning up around the house. They don't stop! Thank you Peter & Gail, you helped us out enormously.

Katrin is a friendly and lovely young woman. She helped me so much to clean the stables and all places round the farm. Absolutely reliable and able to work alone and in a team. She took care of the old mare "Lucy" and she loved it, to be busy. So it was a comfortable time together. Her favorite work was in the garden. Here she had wonderful ideas and made a lot of realy good work. Thank you so much for all your wonderful help.

Lea was a pleasure to host; she stayed with us for 2 weeks and helped in many different jobs, from compost making to weeding and making bird feeders. She communicates very well and picks up tasks very easily and can carry them out independently. During meals she was always willing to help.

We spent 2 weeks with Samadhi and the rest of the wonderful people, and we really wish we could have stayed longer it was such a lovely experience. The place itself is so remote, completely surrounded by nature, and so peaceful. Rooms are basic but have everything you need. There is so much space and hammocks for relaxing in the afternoon! A short walk away is a natural pool for a refreshing dip. During our time here we were so well looked after. All the meals were delicious, and we got to learn lots about Sri Lankan cooking. There was always someone making fresh juice (ask for wood apple juice!!!) or making tea and offering snacks between meals. Besides from that the work itself was truly special. The projects Samadhi is running are so inspiring and radical and we feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to contribute. When we arrived Samadhi explained all about the project and they we were able to chose how we wanted to contribute. We both spent our time working on different projects based on our previous work experience. In the afternoons all international and local volunteers spend an hour gardening together. Everyone at the project is so welcoming and supportive and you really feel part of the community very quickly. We had some fun evenings dancing and sharing each others music, or playing games. We highly recommend this Workaway and hope that we can return one day. Thank you Samadi, Dilina and everyone else 💛 We are very grateful for this opportunity!

Natsumi is lovable, nice and hard working. She is willing to learn new things, and she is good a cooking and making origami. She did every task she was asked of. Natsumi is young and still not fully trained in all tasks. But she has the best attitude and wants to learn and to help. With a bit more experience, she will be a super help for anyone. Natsumi is very good with people, and empathetic and positive. She is studying to be a doctor, and I believe she would be amazing in any position taking care of children, animals, older people etc. Because she is really that kind of person, who makes you feel good.

What an absolutely fantastic family!! I have stayed with Kristen, Hamish, and Jai twice already and I'm sure I will again. They're all so personable and welcoming. They included me in all of their fun/exciting hikes, out rings, and beach days. You really can't ask for anything better as far as accommodation. As an on-foot traveler having my own clean, dry, comfortable space was truly luxurious. The work exchange was totally reasonable. I really had such a fantastic time, I can't recommend them enough!!

Lisa and Craig are amazing Hosts and the vineyards are beautiful. The rooms and house are very grand and Lisa cooks amazing food that feels very much like a home. I also learned so much about wine making. They made an effort to show and teach us as much as possible. thank you again Lisa and Craig:)

So sad to leave Konnie and Stefan's stead! We stayed for just a week but they made us feel at home. For me (Gonzalo) this was my first Workaway experience and I did not know what to expect as it'd be something entirely new. Nothing could have prepared me for how welcomed they both made me and by extension us feel. They gave us anything we needed to do the job (and we hope they liked it as much as we did carrying it out), with a break close to noon during which we shared stories and got to know each other, and ate great food, some of which they grow themselves. They were truly lovely, and a lot of fun at the pub quizzes (you must be missing us tonight haha, hope you enjoy the vouchers!). We hope you enjoy finishing your amazing home and we sure hope to cross paths again! (Paula does not easily forget a free crepe offer).

I absolutely loved staying with Benny and his incredibly warm family. Lindsay and Linglong are two wonderful and clever girls, and I had so much fun playing and studying with them. Two weeks were way too short! I really hope our paths will cross again.

I spent a week with Sigrid and her lovely son Alex. At the beginning my experience was mixed, but by the end I really appreciated my stay there. Here is a breakdown of my experience: PLUSES: • Sigrid and her family are very kind. Alex knows a great deal about animals and Australian wildlife (go write that book!) • The work was not hard at all, anyone can do it • The farmland and the views are beautiful • They have a cat and a dog whom are both very sweet • During my stay, I had to do an interview for a university place. Sigrid made sure to accommodate this for me • Sigrid loves Naruto and anime • After a particularly horrible experience at my next host, Sigrid gave me a call and offered to reference me for a ski job at Falls Creek should I need it. We had a lovely chat. She's a very loyal person and will help you out if you need it! DOWNSIDES: • When I arrived, I had to sleep on a sofa for two nights before one of her sons left and a bed became available • Even though the work was easy, it was very much based on what Sigrid wanted me to do in the moment. I would have to ask for work and then she would find something for me to do. I would have preferred a clearer schedule as even though I only worked a few hours per day, I spent a lot of the day lingering for jobs and so I would be ready at 10am and only be able to relax after around 5pm • The dog will wake you up at 5-6am • The dog interrupted my interview WHAT I WOULD IMPROVE: The only two things that could have made this experience better would be • stating clearly on the Workaway site if a tent or a sofa is the only sleeping option • a to-do list of tasks that the workawayer can read in the morning and get tasks done more efficiently My actual rating would be 4.5 stars, but since Workaway doesn't allow half stars it's only fair to round up. I would like to stress that the positives of this host far outshone any loud dogs or haphazard job allocation. Thank you so much Sigrid!
