Description
Pruning Help Wanted – Wairarapa 2026 🍇
Pruning Date:
9th - 18th July OR
31st July - 9th August
Hi! We’re Lisa & Craig, and we’d love to welcome you to our small vineyard just south of Martinborough, in the beautiful Wairarapa, New Zealand.
Craig is an Environmental Consultant, and Lisa is a Graphic & Textile Designer who now works primarily in our growing wine business.
We’re looking for 2 couples or individuals to join us for pruning during winter. Experience is a bonus, but not essential — you just need to be fit, willing, and keen to learn.
Accommodation & Food provided
Two queen beds: one in the house and one in a separate nook next to the house, & a 4 bed bunk room.
Shared bathroom with other work aways.
Swimming pool
We can collect you from a Wairarapa train, and/or drop you back into Wellington city after your time with us.
It’s a peaceful rural setting surrounded by vineyards and farms — a wonderful place to experience a workaway.
We’d love to hear from you! 🍷 -

Accommodation
We have a new house just south of Martinborough. The house is set in a vineyard . There is plenty of space. 1 Queen bed is available in the house, the other queen bed is in the nook next to the house. We also have a 4 bed bunk room in the house. You will share the bathroom with other work aways staying, and rest of the house with my husband & I. Breakfast is a rolling breakfast and we eat lunch & dinner together. Morning & afternoon tea is provided. Non smokers please. Wifi is available, cell reception works through the internet connection, otherwise is patchy in the house.

What else ...
Close by are many vineyards. There are 4 towns 5 - 40 minutes drive away. About a 40 minute drive away is Cape Palliser where you can see seals and climb the steps to the lighthouse. In the opposite direction is Castle Point which offers a boadwalk to another lighthouse and a lovely beach. Wellington city is known for its great cafes and Te Papa is a fantastic museum.

I had a lot of fun learning how to prune and getting glimpses of what it takes to run a wine business. We got to see where their wine gets made and saw a glimpse of bottling/labeling. We worked for 5 hours a day with tea breaks and lunch in between. I had no prior experience with … read more

Their vineyard was so beautiful, and I felt very fortunate to be able to work together on harvesting there. They shared a great deal of knowledge and passion about wine with me.
